    Not sure if I'm late, but Happy Birthday to @Norleas!

    Thanks dude.

    You made it in time by some minutes, like the powerful guy that always come after the mc already is on the ground in a random shounen manga.

    A wonderful night to everyone and i wish that i don't have a headache after drinking too much tonight.

  2. Well, i think that in tv vs books, books have a large advantage cause of the power of imagination, but when we are talking about vns that factor diminishes with the inclusion of the visual aspect, so the biggest point is what anime and what vn are we talking about, in ideal conditions, my guess is that a visual novel could delivery more information than an anime, especially in consideration of the length of a vn  that could easily surpass 20 hours when a two seasons anime have generally 10 hours of contents ( including something like 1 hour of opening/endings).

  3. Doesn't matter how good the concept behind the genre is, when he becomes overused things quickly go downhill, and with the Japanese power of make even the best concept in the world a high school fan service fest with only trope characters, things only go worse.

  4. Only considering "pure charages" (i.e. disconsidering nakige/chunni/whatever hybrids), my favorites are  Minamijuujisei Renka, Koiiro Soramoyou, Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai  and Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas.

    Charage in general are at saturation levels... the real problem is that they've been reduced to rehashing the same ideas with 'new twists'.  That's never a good sign for any company.

    I dare to say that visual novels regardless of sub genre are saturated, it's been a while since the last time that i looked into a new release and see something "new", the medium need fresh air, but how? I dunno.

    Someone at VNDB said Yuzusoft is currently the top seller of VN in JP (wow...). Is this true? O.O...

    I don't know exactly the numbers and rankings, but if that is true, it's not a surprise to me. All Yuzusoft games hit top 1 in the charts when released, Senren Banka for example, sold 45000 copies in the first month out, in 2016, only August have another title with that numbers. Other point is that they always have consistent sales, even big companies most of the time have a considerable fluctuation from one title to another, but to Yuzusoft that value is always something like 10%. So they are consistent, popular and have a loyal fan base, the perfect recipe to fabricate best sellers.

  6. The limit of "too wordy" really depends of what you are writing, genres like sci-fi have much more tolerance in that aspect than SoL, the excess of words tends to be a problem to less skillful writers, but in the right hands and concepts could make a really good work. If you are uncertain, use the motto "less words, more meaning".

    In my opinion, a negative example of a wordy vn is  Tsuki ni Yorisou Otome no Sahou 2, the phrases per se are already lengthy and there some random background info dumps that are totally fucked by how lengthy they are, resulting in a horrible flow to the history.

  7. I rate all works in separate categories, everything start with a 7, my standard note to a decent/average work and i subtract or add points most of time comparing with other works that gravitate on the average sphere (7 points). The great difference on my system is that i rate different genres with different categories and that categories differ on weight. For example, the equation that describe a charage is described by:

    Rating = (art + characters*2 + story + humor + enjoyment*1.5 + sounds*0.5)/7

    In comparison, a chunnige rating could be written as:

    Rating = (art + characters + story*2 + story concept + action*1.5 + sounds*0.5)/7

    But even with a standardized method, it's inevitable some subjectivity.

    Only to note, after read more than 200 titles, i never gave a note higher than 9.5 and never will give a 10, cause perfection is impossible.
