Yeah, definitely. I tried to rely of the text parser rather than on MTL, and the result I got was just barely understandable, and probably only because the original text was rather simple. And even text parsers made a lot of mistakes. Honestly, this method just isn't worth it in most cases.
Admittedly, the results MTL produced there were rather comedic at times.

Yeah, but number alone says nothing. I've already mentioned Sanoba - Nene's route reportedly had 9(?) h-scenes, yet Steam version didn't feel butchered at all to me - Nekonyan did great job there, cutting just the intercourse itself, but leaving everything else intact. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Same with Princess Evangile - Steam version is port of console version - just like Noratoto - and I think it was really good, despite reading +18 version first. Story-important scenes (like the first time) got similar treatment like Sanoba, while some semi-random scenes got seamlessly removed, and it was actually beneficial to the flow of the story (I even forgot that there were so many there ).
While I can understand the desire for H, nevertheless since this Noratoto Steam release is based on already existing JP all-ages version, I feel like calling it "butchered for the West" and comparing it to original release of IMHHW is a bit far fetched and unfair.
Of course, it's also possible, that Harukaze didn't do as good job as Moonstone or NekoNyan, and console version will feel incomplete - but then, the outrage should be directed at "poorly done all-ages version", and not just at the act of doing all ages version itself.
I'm probably going to play this after I finish MashiroIro, and then I'll gladly report my impressions here. NoisyPixel's review seems to be favourable despite the lack of H (although they mention, that sometimes it didn't went smoothly).

Actually that's from the PS4 version. This is the default Steam version of the art:

I don't think so, it's one of those CGs they specifically made and patched in to replace some of the original CGs which were forced to be 90% beams of light in the PS4 version.

I see, thank you for correcting me. But isn't that CG (the one where they are fully clothed) also in the Switch version?

I think I might've already said it somewhere earlier in the thread, but to clarify the CGs have the same degree of minimal censoring as the Switch version does, not the light-show of the PS4 version.

I think I'm going to give it a try. I'm genuinely curious if they managed to keep it good without h-scenes. H-scene count in 18+ version wasn't exactly low (according to this post, 7+4+5+4), but then, OTOH, two best all-ages versions of eroge that I've read were Sanoba Witch and Princess Evangile, which also had numerous h-scenes originally, yet all-ages versions were great.
I wonder how's it with Noratoto, and the game is cheap enough that it doesn't hurt to try

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story. We haven't licensed anything - as I pointed out just a few posts earlier in this thread. Not the voices, not the game. It's being released by Harukaze via their label of TOKYOTOON, and would've been exactly the same way without us, just with less QA and lacking user support.
That statement's all sorts of amusing on other grounds as well, but oh well.

We're a co-publisher, not "the" publisher; since you already know we only became involved at the very end, it should be pretty obvious we're not making any executive decisions regarding the release. Our main role is in handling English user support, promos, storefront negotiations and what have you.
We are running our own QA for the game as part of the service, but can only report issues and actually implementing changes happens between the developer and the localization company they used for the translation. I want to be very clear about that, since our own standards would be considerably higher when it comes to the end quality (we already need to compromise on the level of things which we report due to not having direct freedom to implement them). IMO the translation itself is decent though, above par for a commercial localization and certainly good enough to enjoy the game.

I haven't done a personal comparison but another person on the staff did and they counted 17 new CGs in this version that aren't in the latest Japanese PC release. Also thanks!

Fruitbat don't publish/license the game so I have only meant that even though they don't release 18+ games themselves, they should still bring to the Harukaze's attention (who are basically self-publishing the game) that there's a very eager audience for the original 18+ version and plenty of platforms to sell it on. Since, you know, it looks like Harukaze have no meaningful interaction with the western audience whatsoever. Nothing more, nothing less.
I'd even say that I generally like Fruitbat, they have released plenty of cool non-ero VNs like Chuusotsu or Seabed, sustain a somewhat decent TL/tech quality and the only game of theirs that originally had ero got the 18+ release on behalf of JAST anyway so it's not like they robbed you of anything. I'm only salty that they didn't bring Eiyuu Senki to the vita back in the day. Boo.

Good question. It seems unlikely at the moment, I believe that if they were able to offer an 18+ version, they would just do it. What storefront they offer one on isn't relevant to the voice issue. And I don't believe they have any other reservations about making one, considering they're the ones that made the 18+ version in the first place.
In some cases voice licensing issues can just make something impossible (see TM just releasing a new F/SN edition that still doesn't have voices), or it might be -significantly- expensive (what I know about the scale of voice licensing costs in general, it might be something that'd say, double the entire cost of the release). At the other end of the scales, if they had wanted to roll with the 18+ version they probably wouldn't be able to use the new console content (which might've made things like a Steam release impossible). This is just speculation on my part though, based on my general understanding of how these things work. I'm sure we'll discuss the topic repeatedly in the future as well and maybe we'll eventually be wiser about it.

I agree. They should disregard all their expenses and believe that somehow the VN will sell enough to not bankrupt them.

I'm not privy to the exact details, but voice licensing is always very complicated in Japan. In this case there's the 18+ PC version, then several console ports (where the seiyuus go by their real names and not the 18+ aliases), and even an anime to muddle the waters. The seiyuus are also very famous so they may have stricter clauses in their contracts than usual.
EDIT: Oh, and it's released by the developers themselves, not a localization company, so that's not a factor.

There won't be an official 18+ patch, the voice licensing for it seems very difficult.

    There's a demo out now:
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/1010600/The_Princess_the_Stray_Cat_and_Matters_of_the_Heart/
It covers a pretty hefty portion of the common route of the game. Also official release date of June 17.
