Yeah I'd like to know too, I quite liked the original title.

I really want to play this game. But after reading the review, it makes me hesitant just a little bit. I cannot even manage to finish under one wing even though I force myself to finish it.
I am guessing you have a hard time with moege?

it's just my opinion. I'm entitled to have one. No harm in commenting.
Yeah I know it's np, I was just explaning why such titles weren't included in this thread though as it was specifically aimed for titles that are not translated in english in any way whether officially or unofficially.

Kanon has a bad fan-translation as expected from the average fantl.
I see, I never seen anyone mentioning this so I didn't know.

Hatsuyuki Sakura hasn't been mentioned (I believe), that would be a treat.
It's from 2012, a little bit too modern to be called "older VN"
3 hours ago, Speeny said:Ones that weren't listed that I personally want officially translated: Kanon & Air.
Already available as fan-translations, no point in including these just for an official release.

Just a moment ago I realized that. I am browsing their page on VNDB, and I am like... oh my God, whyyyyyyy
Edit: This brand is also under them. Man, what a shame. I really hoped to maybe see that Book Maker VN localized since I am a huge sucker for fantasy
They are also responsible for all of these so-called "DMM gacha games", such as Taimanin Asagi Battle Arena which is one of them.
Here is a good video on what gacha is (spoilers: it's about gambling real money in the hope of getting the intangible items/characters/etc that you are aiming for):
Here is a review of Taimanin Asagi Battle Arena:

Why wouldn't there be? Is there a reason you believe they would be unapproachable?
Edit: Sorry, spoke too soon. I see now. DiGination. PC game brand of DMM Games...
Yeah, if I am not mistaken, these guys did their own thing with Your Diary on Steam. RIP. I guess you're right. It's likely they wouldn't let other companies pick up their titles.
DMM is also the reason why Iwaihime in english isn't a thing.

Anyone knows where to download/buy really old visual novels from the 90s
Try here (you need a Yahoo Japan ID): https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/list3/jp/ゲーム-アダルト/2084006448-category.html
7 hours ago, Arktic said:run them on current platforms like Windows? There is just so little information on them that can be found online.
Won't work, you need to buy an older machine to play them, like recently some PC-98 games from the 90's got an english translation patch, but these games won't work on Windows 10 or whatever, you need to buy a PC-98 to play these.
-
Disclaimer: All of the characters depicted in these pictures are over the age of 18
Here is the patch: https://rattanmantrans.tumblr.com/post/185967060290/taimanin-asagi-premium-box-english-translation
The Premium Box was released in Japan back in 2011 and it regroups earlier releases of the Taimanin series in one package and in 4:3 HD resolution.
With this release, it means that the following games of the Taimanin series are now in english:
Taimanin Asagi CE, Taimanin Asagi 2 CE, Taimanin Asagi 3, Taimanin Asagi Gaiden, Taimanin Murasaki, Taimanin Yukikaze Ainmation, Taimanin Asagi Battle Arena as well as the side stories in Izm02 and Izm04.
So almost all of the Taimanin games are now in english, so the only missing games are Taimanin Asagi ZERO (which is being translated right now also by Rattan Man and received a partial patch already) as well as Taimanin Yukikaze 2 and Taimanin Kurenai.

Akatsuki no Goei should be released this year, been 100% tled for a while
Hasn't this game has had a fan-translation project since 2012-2013? Same thing with Pure Pure Story of Ears and Tails. None of them have had a patch released yet though.

No idea.

Yeah I was thinking of adding Da Capo 100 fandiscs on the poll, but yeah it's kind of a mess and I don't even know which is what, plus from the looks of it Da Capo doesn't seem to sell so well in the west, it literally took, what 4 years or more for the limited physical edition of Da Capo 1 and 2 to get sold out? And Da Capo 3 might not have sold so well since mangagamer never release a physical copy for it, to add to that this game is apparently very long as it took 2 whole years to translate.
I was also thinking of adding Memories Off 1/2/3/4/5/6 to the poll, but same issue as Da Capo, 100 fandiscs and it's very far in terms of releases (I think that the latest title, Innocent Fille is the 7th or 8th title in the series), that ship has sailed too long ago and it's too far away to catch up with it now.

Nope, just a feeling based on the material. Coincidentally I happen to be reading it at the moment. But I didn't know that about Akabei so I could be wrong.
Akabei licensed G-Senjou no Mao to Sekai and Sharin no Kuni to Frontwing. Plus the original developer is not Akabei, it's Syangrila which is now Tigre Soft. AkabeiSoft3 did however act as the publisher of the complete edition released in 2014, while originally Akatsuki was both developed and published by Syangrilla, so this could make things easier (or harder) to license the rights of the IP for a western release.

Nah, old like Damekoi-ish old, stuff that could still happen.

11 minutes ago, Infernoplex said:This list has some pretty shitty entries listed, but for listing Natsuyume Nagisa, I give you 100 points.
Well I put some title like Tayutama that some guy used to mentioned adnauseum a few years back each time a Translation Status Update/Discussion would be posted, I also listed Fance Shoujo which I see people mention a few times per year at least etc.
I also went ahead and put titles that were supposed to be fan-translated, but it just never happened at the end, like Kourin no Machi, Akatsuki no Goei etc.
Added also a few others which were popular enough (in Japan) to receive anime adaptations, such as H2O and Mashiro etc.
Some others are just random highly rated titles on both vndb and EGS.
Well, these are all pretty old titles with less chance to be translated, but still manage (or managed?) to garner some interests.
-
I only added titles that haven't been released nor have been announced as being currently translated in english.
I added mainly titles that have been mentioned here and there a few times throughout the years, or that had an english translation in the works but have been dropped, but also games that are simply highly rated.
I haven't added titles that have been released after 2010.
Each title is clickable and will bring you to each game's respective vndb listing.

Japanese is just not an accessible language to most westerners who just do not have the necessary memorization capacity to retain thousands of convoluted characters to memory, this is why western publishers of japanese games such as Atlus USA, Idea Factory International, XSEED, NIS America, Koei Tecmo America, Bandai Namco America, Manga Gamer, Sekai Project etc. are in buisness as they offer something that is not available to everyone, meaning a japanese to english translation, bar that they would have gone broke a long time ago as all of these mentioned publishers don't develop their own games, they just localize japanese titles in english. If japanese was an accessible language to western language speakers, nobody would wait months or years for the english localizations, but would just go and buy the japanese versions off an import website.
