  1. Hi, quick question. Any idea how to open .adv files that contain game dialogue? Basically, I extracted the game files from bin01, bin02... archives and found a folder titled 本編, which I imagine contains the main dialogue, but it's filled with a bunch of small files, all with the .adv extension, unreadable with N++. Anyone know how to open them?

I've mainly tried looking into eroges from the following developers (all of which are readable with any text editor): Norn (e.g Yankee Kanojo to Kozukuri Gakuen Life) Miel (e.g Oyakodon Massage) Lilith Soft (e.g Ane Hara Mix) Some other developers (Suzuya, Cattleya, etc) also have readable .ks files. However, the .ks files from some developers display messed-up text when trying to open them with a text editor. Examples: Spindle (e.g Kinshin Bokan) Orcsoft (e.g Sei Yariman Sisters) Something to do with the way those developers package their xp3 archives perhaps?
  3. Yes to both. I've downloaded two different games, both with data.xp3 archives. I used the same tool to extract the archives and used Notepad++ to view the .ks files for both games, but only one of them displays the dialogue text normally, the other doesn't. Don't know why.
  4. Basically, after extracting the files from the "data.xp3" archive of any game, you'll end up with several "scenario.ks" files that contain the game dialogue. For some games (mostly those published by Norn and Miel), I can easily open these with any text editor and read the Japanese characters just fine. However, for many other games, the "scenario.ks" files display only gibberish. What could be the issue that's preventing the text from being displayed correctly?

  6. Since this is also a basic VNR-related question, I didn't see the need to make a new topic, so... Is there any way to "fix" the synchronous text for a more accurate machine translation while reading? For example, a word in the sentence reads 早、く instead of 早く because VNR decided to add a comma in the middle, causing the rest of the translation to become garbled. Is it possible to delete individual characters that are mistakenly added in the text?
  7. Thanks for the quick reply! I've only had VNR for a short time and I don't really know how to navigate it all that well, so I most likely screwed something up by fiddling with the options. Hoped that maybe there's a quick fix, but oh well. Took your advice and uninstalled. Deleting the registry fixed the issue. Had to completely re-set the preferences, but that's a small price to pay I guess
  8. Hello, I'm a complete novice at using VNR, as I just started messing around with it. However, I seem to have messed up something. Whenever there is voiced dialogue, the translation shows up as "J" - just a single letter instead of any actual translation. Protagonist (non-voiced) dialogue and other text translates just fine. What could be the likely issue?
