Tay got a reaction from Fiddle in 9/16 - Themes are Up! Feedback/Bugs Here
I'm alive (more on that in this morning's upcoming VNTS post)! What's more: I've sought out stable internet, and I've given Fuwa a good ole six-hour blitz. Lots got done, but I think you'll all be very glad to hear that...
All themes should be back up and running! Let me know if you run into problems with any of them! I fixed the thing. I removed the other thing. I've flagged all accounts who turned traitor and used Rooke's Crappy Default Theme. They are traitors to the cause and will be punished. Once more we are all equal, and some are more equal than others.  Joking aside, themes should work. Give it a go, and let me know what I unintentionally broke.

Hey there, seeing as the page layout is still horribly broken, I've written a temporary CSS fix to stop my eyes from bleeding.
You may want to consider adding this snippet to the page source until you manage to fix the actual problem.
    - Atom
    <style> .cPost .ipsComment_meta { margin: 0 !important; padding: 0 15px !important; } .cPost .cPost_contentWrap { padding: 15px 15px 54px 15px !important; } .cPost .ipsComment_controls { left: 0 !important; } .cPost .cPost_contentWrap { height: calc(100% - 50px) !important; } </style>

Update: There's an issue with the way I remotely authenticate and access the server.  I messaged @Nayleen and as soon as we get that resolved, I'll get themes and all forums software updated and, hopefully, "fixed."
PSA: Rooke's Crappy Default Theme MAY be the "best working" theme at the moment, but it's gauche and sucks. It's not worth it. Do not listen to Rooke.

Probably. Almost certainly over, that is. In any case, the forums software will be running some indexing behind the scenes and things could yet get wonky. If you run into bugs, please speak up in this thread.
There are also several new features to the blog, but I left the list of them back in the United States and will need to recompile it. In the meantime, just assume that everything you like is filled with sparkly updates, and everything you dislike went away.
EDIT: The visual formatting of the forums are a bit off as well. This has to do with our various forums themes. As soon as I get home tonight, I'll start the laborious process of updating them, and then things should be pretty once more. (Except for Rooke's theme. That one's just crap.)
EDIT: I mentioned it in the blog post, but whenever you come back and notice the forums are alive, please drop a big "Thank You!" to Nayleen (and, to a lesser extent, Invision) for bringing us back from the edge of the abyss!

    And we're back.

Okay, time for some real talk.

I am currently very busy IRL. Something has come up that is keeping me rather occupied, and that will be the case for all of August. I'll spare you the details of what this is, but it's very important to me, and takes priority over my hobbies.

Anyways, because of this, I can't get all that much TL work done on this project during this time. And on top of that, I'm going to Japan in September to study abroad, and will be there for half a year. I am not sure how my internet situation will be over there, and I also don't know how much free time I'll have. So, this obviously means, TL progress will start to slow down. A lot.

Now, this does not mean I'm going to abandon this project. I still plan on finishing this, though as you can probably tell, I can't meet a 2017 deadline, since I'll have my hands full for the next 6 months.

For the moment, my plan is this:

I will do my absolute best to get the Minato route fully TLed before I leave for Japan. Or I will at the very least get it finished after a bit of time in Japan. I only have 2700 lines remaining on that, so it won't require all that much time. I will definitely aim for a 2017 release for Minato's route, at the very least.

After that though, I might have to put off the rest of the routes for a while. If I do happen to have a lot of free time in Japan, I'll definitely start TLing when I'm there. But, my studies comes first, so if I find myself with very little free time, I can't exactly throw away my degree just to get this TL done a little faster.

Which means, worst case scenario, Minato's route comes out, and I'll have to put the project on hiatus until Febuary of 2018, when I get back to Norway again.

I don't know what I'll be thinking 6 months from now, but at the moment, I definitely want to finish this project, even if it takes a long time.
I'll keep you updated on how the TL is going throughout of August, and will make one final update before I leave for Japan. (That update will hopefully be me hitting the 100% mark on Minato's route, but I can't make any promises.)
Thanks for sticking with me folks, see you in the next update.

We're not dead. We are currently stuck trying to fix some pretty huge technical issues that are preventing us from continuing. Once we manage to fix those, we will make an update again. Sorry I can't provide any more info on when that will happen, as we honestly have no idea ourselves.

Sheesh.  Two and a half months later.  Ick ick ick.  Well, I'm out from under the Giant Heap of RPGs.  I beat Torment: Tides of Numenera, gave up on Mass Effect: Andromeda, beat Persona 5, and then beat Trails in the Sky The Third.  (Whew!)
Around the time I resurfaced for air, Darklord Rooke's computer crashed.  He's had to spend time rebuilding it and reassembling his files.  This means that it's not 100% clear where progress is on the project right now (since he wasn't around for awhile).  I'll sync up with him hopefully sometime in the near future and update this thread again.
I'm not dead! I feel happy!

EDIT: Right now there is a new pass being made to the translation, so there is hope after all.
For more details, check out the game's kickstarter page.

I know there are already several posts talking about the translation of this game on the forum, but some people might have missed them, as the bulk of the posts were made some time ago, so I figured a new thread might be in order, now that the game is out for everyone.

I have been reading the game for about 2 hours now, comparing the JP lines to the English translations as I read. This translation is very literal, to the point where the English sentences often make little to no sense. The biggest issue seems to be that the translator transliterated everything. It seems like he/she just looked at the Japanese line, and word by word, translated everything directly into an English sentence as is, without any re-wording, giving no thought to how the line would flow in English. And the result is... terrible. From what I can tell, the translator has not made any rookie JP mistakes, like mistaking particles etc, (though keep in mind I could only go by the voiced lines and not the narrated ones, as I do not have the Japanese script in front of me.) That being said, an "accurate" translation doesn't really mean much when the English is barely comprehensible as a result.
A few examples of what you will see in the translation: (Decay also posted some examples last month, which you can see here.)
    Screenshots:
You also have things like this:

This is an official localization, and yet it reads like a bad fan TL. We should not be okay with this. Many of us paid money for this.
From what I can tell, the translation's accuracy is not the issue, but the translator's lack of English knowledge is. A proper editing pass and some QCing could fix 90% of the issues in this translation. We should all, (in a calm manner, of course,) ask Mikandi to do something about this. Whether they will actually listen to us or not is hard to say, but I'd like to think they will. Their PR has been on point through the entire campaign, (they were logged into this forum just last night, showing that they are checking the threads about their game frequently) and if enough people voice their complaints about the translation, I hope they will look into doing something about it.
Tweet them, comment on their kickstarter page if you are a backer or post on their website. Make your stance on the TL known. If one person complains, nothing will happen, but if everyone does, it's going to be hard for Mikandi to ignore us. With their prevoiusly open attitude towards the community, I'd like to think they will listen.
So, for the moment, my recommendation is that you do not buy this game. Wait and see if they will do something about our concerns first. Hopefully they will listen and do something about the TL. If you buy the game now in its current state, just be warned: it's not very good, and you might come to regret your decision.
