Let's try writing something a bit more detailed.
I've been playing video games for many years now, mostly on PC, and I've never been a particular fan of Japanese media, although I was never one to hate on it. My first exposure to anything remotely VN-like was Persona 3 Portable somewhere near the end of 2010, and I loved both the RPG aspect, since RPG is one of my favourite genres, and the social aspect, although I didn't have the slightest idea that there were entire games dedicated to it.
Skip to April 2012 when I was in my last year of high school, I stumbled upon an article about Katawa Shoujo. I didn't have anything better to do with my time and it was free so I downloaded it and gave it a try the next day. I was instantly hooked and reminded of Persona, so much so that it completely skipped my mind that it was 18+, so when I got to the first H-scene, my parents were in the room, thankfully not looking at my monitor. Needless to say I was more careful from that point on.
That July I was on summer break back home in Russia, with only my netbook with me, and for whatever reason I started looking up Katawa Shoujo and related stuff, and eventually found a few VN lists, and based on that my second VN was CrossChannel, which I also greatly enjoyed.
From that point on I had a good idea of what I was looking for, and I was finding and reading a ton of VNs. I've also started branching out to anime, although most of what I've watched are VN adaptations.
Hope you enjoyed this short story of my VN life~
I'm just going to leave this here:
