Wow, I'm really 2 months away from being a two-year member. I usually forget how long I've been here until I look it up and think "damn, I'm way too old for this anime nonsense."
But here we are: 1000 likes. As some of you might know by now, I don't care much about post counts so I waited to get a juicy like number to make this kind of thread. And it does seem as if I am entertaining you guys, looking at my Post/Like difference (the internal mechanics of our OT forum are obviously completely unrelated). Most of that probably stems from memeing too much, but I would like to think that my contributions in the discussion forums are insightful too.
So, I hereby thank Fuwanovel as a whole for being better than reddit and our mod staff for their hard work in the fight against trolls, spam, random porn links and the occasional creepy otaku confession.
Now, to the call-outs. Because everyone does it, I guess.
@Suzu Fanatic and @Fred the Barber: I didn't place you two into your video roles randomly, you two are kind my "fanclub", if I can say that without looking like an asshole. Anyway, I appreciate all the support you two in particular give me for basically no reason at all. Pressing that green button actually makes me happy. @mitchhamilton, you get a deserved third spot in the fanclub, but you have been slacking lately.
The Skype People, who give me an excuse to waste ours of my life with nothing but text chat: @Hanako, @Vokoca, @madvanced, @Dergonu, @Asonn,  @Kawasumi, @Vongalaxy, @Kiriririri, @LinovaA(come back, you lazy adult!), @Zakamutt, @YarrakYarrak (no idea who you are here), @Yeah Way (I'm from Tibet, now you know), @sarayne, @Kurisu-Chan (don't let everything in life slap you down, it's bad for your health), @hsmsful, @Hymen, @Funyarinpa (look at me covering the desert in one go ) and some more which I probably forgot because they haven't been online for at least 2 hours \(°ω°)/
The Princess Evangile People: I honestly don't remember who all of you were, but I will never forget how much fun that damn thread was.
@Eclipsed, @Zenophilious, @Tiagofvarela, @KosakiFag, @crunchytaco, @Flutterz, @Nosebleed : You guys were the fools who made me feel welcome here from the get-go. I don't care who the real Fuwa-oldguard is, you guys are my oldguard.
@Fiddle: You make me depressed, because you are like me; just in funny. But then I read your posts and laugh the depression away.
@Decay, @Rooke, @Kaguya: You three probably didn't expect this call out - since we have different opinions on pretty much everything - but you three are really smart and enjoy being around smart people. Even if I don't agree with them.
@OriginalRen: You are not the best Reviewer in the world, but you are a great Entertainer. Play to your strengths!
@CeruleanGamer: It's not like I care about Nee-san, I just felt like mentioning her.
@Valmore: It's not like I care about Aniki, I just felt like mentioning him.
@Palas and @nohman: You two are smart and pleasant company. Running into you on the board is always a pleasure.
@TheguywholikesDearDrops: You know who you are, keep it up.
@Elina-chan; You are the best waifu. Luv u bby <3
@all the translators who actually finish their projects; Texas Dice loves all of you. I would rob a bank for your sakes, you glorious bastards!

Here we are, thanks for all the likes everyone! People not mentioned in the thread or shown in the video are free to complain.

Now everyone can ask me whatever they want to ask.
I shall answer in honest, unless I feel like lying.

Eh? I honestly can't see hardly any difference if any at all. Between putting a older vn in fullscreen mode and between using a VM to rescale the window. I imagine they use the same upscaling/zoom. For newer vn's with actual good support for upscaling the difference is huge ofc.

I feel weeaboo is similar to the word for black people "nig***". If you call some other dude who loves anime a weeaboo when you love anime yourself. It's fine. It's more like sup brah! But if some dude who doesn't like anime/jp-stuff says it. It becomes derogatory.

Sharin is pretty nice. But I think I prefer Eustia's kind of linear story. Straight forward with just 1 h-scene pushed on you.
With more branches I like tokyo babel, that branches off quite early in the story.

    Hi, fellow VN explorers,
I've just published an article on basic reverse engineering of unknown file formats of visual novels.
It requires little technical knowledge (actually, everything except for the optional latest part can be done without programming) and it tackles the basic process of discovering information about simple container format and exploring its structure to extract files from a game archive.
Hope it would be useful Feel free to ask any questions.

Certainly it would look messy if there was too many characters. Having something like 1-3 on each left and right side of the middle of the page. Depending on the size of them wouldn't destroy the balance of the page I imagine.

    Hey everybody,
Here's a preview screenshot of the new front site. If you have a sec and want to share your off-the-cuff impression, that would be helpful! Otherwise, there will be a closed beta that starts once the new front site is successfully re-deployed on the server. I hope to launch the site for-reals next week.
    Thanks!

This looks a lot better than before.
The header image might be on the slightly big side. Although having a big nicely drawn picture is nice.
You could have a highly detailed background image with vn/anime characters. Instead of having it white I think? Old theme currently has yellow as background. Having a nice background justifies having smaller header imo.

Personally, I use TA coupled with Translation Assistant to read Web Novels. That way I just need to copy the entire chapter and paste it on a new file :

I recommand the "One Sentence per Line" option to have better parsing. Then thanks to translation assistant, it keeps one sentence at time in the clipboard, and you just need to go to the next one :

Tried JGloss, but I prefer TA.
I wonder if someone knows what WN I used for the example?

    Nice tools.
Additionally another OCR software Capture2Text Is nice as well. I find myself using kanjitomo mostly, and Capture2Text when kanjitomo fails. kanjitomo is much faster and just hover over, Capture2Text is manual but better at recognizing the text.
I mainly read from e-book/txt format. So I convert the books to html files so I can read them in the browser. I like this personally because then I can use rikisama. Which supports Epwing dictionaries. I use 2 methods convert the files to html.

If it's txt format (Aozora, 青空文庫) . I use JNovel Formatter
If it's in Ebook format epub/aw3 etc I use convert function included in the software Calibre. Convert it from the native format to Zip (zipped up html files). You can change the formatting of the html pages by editing the calibre Css files in the folder. Change font, size etc. I do that because I find the formatting rather odd.
Incidentally, drm files are like tsundere waifus. You gotto handle them with care first in another way.

Looking at some gameplay vids from the trial. From the looks of it they reverted to the older art style of BS and BF. I prefer it like this as well. You also got overheating for weapons and such. So it avoids the mistakes of BZ.
I imagine gameplay wise it will be solid. If they build upon what both BF and BSD systems as they were great. Although it was together with the story that made it great imo.
In the end I want Baldr Hard SF. Not Baldr Moe

Just started リズベルルの魔, a doujin game I learned about from the Doujin Game of the Year, otherwise known as #どげさ
Pretty hyped. The graphics and music are way better than the last thing I played.
It's all very little-girlish, but I secretly like that stuff a little since apparently it's a plot-ge with a crazy setting I appreciate that the creators chose to create their own particular mood.

still far away pretending to be helping out in a clients kitchen, but managed to finish my read of モミジは紅く其の身を染めて whilst hiding in a nearby toilette. first thing first, contrary to some fags wrongful perception of ao-titles being aimed at a kindergarden-ish crowd only this one is clearly not and except for some minor elements of kitsch almost everything about it is more or less rather mature. what starts out with a certain pastrelated incisive incident is followed shortly after by seemingly peaceable moments of deluding oneself under the assumption of finally having moved on and ultimately ends up in a nightmare when sins of the olden days start shredding that protective little husk of yours to pieces. though the authors attempts of creating something with literay value by adding some philosophical aspects are a little clumsy at times and not that well executed, the overall atmosphere of angst and guilt is what momiji exells at, not to mention the desperate struggle for absolution/salvation as its core-theme. in short, while certain passages appear a little out of place, btw. strange (you know what i mean when you get there :P), the read as awhole does not and feels very much human. negative emotions and the consequent amplification of theirs as the story progresses is what stands out the most, making it a gloomy experience from start to finish with even the main ending itself having a grave aura of unaccomplishment to it, similar to fraternites one, a fact which might come to annoy few, but which plays a pivotal role in what it tries to accomplish. 救いがあっても、結局代償を払っているので、本当のハッピーエンドとは言えない……。that one sums it up.
the game offers quite alot of bad outcomes (partly real bad ones) which can be a little tricky to reach, but with ones brains intact this should be a doable read in about 30-35h. as for the specs, no voices, music pleasantly befitting the atmosphere/plot and a resolution which transmutes your eyeballs into bleeding lumps of flesh, literally. but since this title is basically available for less than a cheap meals worth there´s no real point in try complaining/nitpicking.
to me it´s a solid 8,5, forwhy it managed to accomplish what it tried to & gave my mind a much needed fuckup.

There are wiki pages from rpg vns around. So you can search for wiki pages in jp for the vn you are reading. Can easily check the battle combat words etc from there.
Generally speaking vn-rpgs tend to use the same vocab or varations of it, so for example looking the vocab from ikusa megami wiki for example prbly will help a lot.

Bolverk got a reaction from Chronopolis in Can reviews be objective?
I think a reviewer's job is to write about what was interesting about said work and what was bad. You can write whatever you want, in whatever fashion, artistic freedom and all that. Frankly I find that rather pointless when I am reading a review. I want to get something from a review. If the reviewer hates the genre of said work. And produces a long review about everything he doesn't like about the genre he sees in the work. His review is quite useless. Who wants to read something like that? Aside from the bashing fun. If you actually put some effort into being objective you will make something that is more practical for others. You can never be completely objective and neither should you try to. Rather gain the insight that you will see things in a different light. In addition to your personal view.
