  1. Sounds like a codec issue. Do what Cybersteel said, that'l likely fix it. There was some fancy effetcs at the start of the game, so if you don't have the codec's it will crash. (I am guessing that's it)
  2. I have did the reverse som time ago, I installed a virutal workstation. On that I would emulate mac OS, worked fine. It's slower as expected, but quite useble on a good computer. You could do the same with windows, emm, not sure if the software I used is useble on Mac though. If you have a tablet, it may be possible to install windows 8 on it. Then install vn's on it... I maybe talking bull here, I don't know much about windows 8 lol. Though I know of people who have installed Linux on their android tablets. So it "should" be possible. Tay, there are other tablets than Apple's you know. I am guessing you meant tablets, as macintosh OS isin't really better or worse suited for vn's.
  3. Bought the game as well, I'll post my impressions too. I have a feeling I'll likely have quite different ones than okami55. This will be fun. I hope I'll remember to write it though...
  4. Okabe isin't mad, he is very nice. If he's mad I am a sociopath! (Maybe I am..... Nah.. I do wonder sometimes though..) Just as with all Key titles there is a true end, (well mostly anyway) you gotto do all rutes. I don't think you will need a guide, start with Rin's rute, then do Komari I guess, afterwards do whatever. You'll understand more after a few rutes, really love that game too, so have fun if you choose it.
  5. Going to read this with Translation Aggregator/JParser/MeCab "soonish" So actully this made me sad face. Thought I would read an untranslated VN. Ah well I can't have everything I guess. REtrans International you think this is a good Vn to start to read with? (I can only read kanji, kana's and understand quite much talking 'audio') Somewhat simple word use?
  6. I hope they don't I have made a pledge to eat it once in my life, regardless of how it smells and it's supposed taste... We got alot of swedish jokes here, as alot of them come to work here. Dane's should keep off, we have the rights to the swe jokes! Funny you should mention that, as I have obiously not driven over the border just this year to by cheap alcohol and loads of soda can's as the car could carry. It would be even less liekly that I bought more alcohol than it is premitted and say "Fuck yeah!" when I crossed the border without getting checked. I love them swedes.
  7. Why all the mean norwegian jokes We never ever say anything bad about our great neighbor Sweden. We just prefer to bath in our oil in peace and not eat Surströmming at our past time. Yeah I am from Norway. How could you guess that Again welcome to the forums!
  8. Had a feeling you would post about SAO after you watched the 14'th episode Tay, haahah. Too epic! I find it still very exciting to watch the anime even after reading the Novels. Hehe I wonder how they will portrey the continuation. It is really amazing how well the anime is adapted. Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Been a while since I have laughed from an anime, but this one really does it with it's stupid humor going on and on. Though the last episodes of season 1 was getting more serious, that kinda runined the end for me. Didin't laugh much, ah well the rest was very good
  9. Time to insert friendly neighbor jokes. A Swede was walking down the street with a duck under his arm. - "Where did you find that monkey?" asked the fellow pedestrian. - "It happens to be a duck." claimed the Swede. - "Shut up, Swede! I am talking to the duck." What is the difference between Swedes and Norwegians? A: The Swedes have nice neighbours! Two men were sitting on a bench in a park. One of them was drunk, and the other was also Swedish! A Swede was asked if he had lived in Stockholm all his life. "Not yet," he answered.
  10. I have played it.. Completed Putina's rute. I stopped after that, it's the only VN I have played and not finished and I never will. I was fun and stuff for the first hours so on. BUT JESUS! I like moe and jokes etc but it is all it is, again again again, the same jokes all the time. I can't friggin fathom why people say it's so good, one thing I am sure of now. I'll rather read reviews and look at score lists than listen to random reccommodations from now on. Well I guess it's a good VN if you read it in bits, I always read only one at a time(Not mutiple VN's). So you may not get stark raving mad and scream NEIN NEIN NEIN, if you do it that way...
  11. Personally I wish I could just have a donate button for the studios I like, Key, Liar, Age, etc. Not to the publishers to the creators! I'll continue to download Vn's as normally from pirate sites and all is just jolly good. Saves us from the, paying etc companies and just a small amount goes to the creators, wait years for releases by stalling companies. Censoring, need to be careful with releaes in the west the list goes on and on.. I just want to play the game and support the creator if the game is good.
  12. Welcome! Excellent art and good choice of favorite VN's
  13. Looking forwards to Dishonored for quite som time now. It's made by mostly the makers of Dark messiah: might and magic (friggin amazing game) and with the art director from half life. It does really look promising. Hopefully it will have amazing combat and creative choices for fighting, etc. Steampunk style also looks very well done, hehe I cant wait. I haven't even heard of X-COM truth be told.... Not so much fan of Turn based games.
  14. I just completed Planetarian, made me cry dammit. Why Key make so sad but epic games Very good VN, a bit short but nothing else to complain about. Completed sharnoth, a few days ago. Ending was such as all Liar titles it seems, have a kind of odd ending because they put so much stuff into them. But not the less, still a very good VN as always. They could have spared me with the tentacles though, lol. What next, hmmm. I think I'll read muv-luv as I have pushed that off for quite some time now. Hopefully I'll read it though in a month, by then I should be done with RTK 1 and Tae Kim's grammer guide. Then I'll "try" reading untranslated works.
  15. :s I liked Kyou the most, but I guess it's because she is tsundere. That being said Clannad was my third VN, I didn't know much about the stereo types at that time. Her BGM is pretty epic too. (if not the most epic one) The VN is pretty good, deep characters not so interesting story. Lots of uninteresting barter imo. So I put the auto reading to 0.3 sec something, atleast very fast through around the last 3/4 part of main game (not afterstory). Cried inside after afterstory of course. If you watch the anime and didn't like it I doubt you will enjoy the VN, it's kind of the same but 9000x more of, with more dept and feeling.
  16. Okey, my list is of epic animes. I highly reccommend them, that being said. Many of them start of slow^^ Haven't you watched many of these, you haven't watched much (good) anime. Code geass Full metal alchemist: brotherhood. Angel beats Death note Hellsing Cowboy Bebop Gungrave Darker than black Berserk Mirai nikki Some other fun ones. Gosick (Yes I find it fun...) KO-N Lucky star Daily Lives of High School Boys
  17. Public domain is what it is, Aaeru is correct in how it is. People can be nice and they can also be an ass, though one thing I would recommend to anyone doing selflessness for someone else. Dont expect something in return, because the likelyhood of you getting it is very low. Most long term translators seem to be like this, they don't do it for anyone else. I would note it's different if its personal to the receiver, if I gave you a gift in person you would likely say: "thank you". Random dude on the interweb, doing something for someone else.. Not likely. It is just how human relations are. But people are likely to be greatful in their own way, even if they don't communicate it. Because we don't feel a need to communicate it, because I don't know you and I have no relations with you. Therefore I don't need to say my thanks to you. Well for those who didn't read my confusing post: Humans are just apes in the end.
  18. AFIK they are fan translations by the people at Baka tsuki a rather big site for novels. Well long is relative They have much space in the lines and its easily read. Guess all 'light' novels are like that.. The verison I downloaded weren't signed.
  19. I download the anime from Nyaa *_*, I can't read japanese so I use subs from [Horriblesubs] 720p video. They seem to always have good quality. blackbird you can watch the raw's...... Damn you...Envious... I downloaded the novel from baka tsuki lots of formats there, i chose PDF from some dude named BeginnerXP. I use just Adobe reader works well enough. Kokoro Connect, got to try that after SAO. Though To Aru Majutsu no Index, Suzumiya Haruhi Series and maybe Infinite Stratos seems interesting, should I read them too? I found the anime good of those, are the good too? I don't want to be thrown off by just one series of Light novels.
  20. I really liked that anime too, I haven't watched any animes in quite som time but I tried SAO and I found it above average, later great. The theme, environment really made it for me, it been put really such great thought in it. So I wondered how it would go after the 11 anime episode, People said manga was bad, true imo I looked. Light novel was better than anime they said, I never bothered to try light novels out (Had kinda a bias agianst them, funny I know~). But this anime sparred me to try them, I loved it! Suprisingly better than the great anime, I would have never guessed I would like them so much. Been reading a book in the series each day now lately. I reccommend them!
  21. All the games here are translated.... If it's not pre-installed with english patch there whould be one with it. But if you must, just search for the game in "vndb.org" and there you should find a link to the TL's site and on it a patch.
  22. That is indeed awesome, combinded with the awesome downloading speed I'll use fuwanovel as my main DL site. Don't see any reason not to Hehe this is really awesome. Being so easily played, it will really help the newcomers. It is suprising how many who find learning about tech stuff hard or simply too frustrating. Also not needing to install is very practical on certain computers. Took me a couple of VN's to understand how it is done mainly. (Sympohonic Rain argh!) I truly belive this is a great way to get more newcomers into vn's. I would note that if it works on Windows 7 it's highly likely it will work on Vista too. I have not doubt the PDF list will be handy for people, Tay!
  23. Wow, quite the list there, nicely done. ^^ I haven't try'd out any games from fuwanovel yet (Currently reading sharnoth). But by meaning no Install on your list, litterarly means that just unpack it and its cracked and with patch? -Just like mangagamer games?
  24. Haha I wondered about the same Tay. I think I'll just start with page 12 "/page/12/" -The oldest posts and go forward to the newest ones.
