  1. RTK method using mnemonics isn't bad, it's good stuff. But going for 2000 kanjis alone is a really bad way of using it. Rather learn kanjis with mnemoics and words the kanjis are used in. While learning grammar. Because these are all interconnected it becomes easier to learn, and you gain actual practical jp knowledge.

Rather use a guide like this http://ja-minimal.tumblr.com/post/54363755004/contents

Or something else. Regardless. If you goal is reading vn's mainly. I'd recommend get some minimal mastery of jp and good grounds in grammar then use text-hookers to read vns you actually want to read. It's slow at first, but a hell lot more fun than spending your time on spaced repetition software. (This latter part is my opinion, anki lovers. Deal with it :holo:)

  2. Sweet you got it working douggle.

I am hoping and twiddling my thumbs here, like a girl waiting for you to choose inside or outside if you can get text hooking to work. I am guessing the only way is using cheat engine  or something similar.

Please, just check whether this game uses custom encoding for characters or not. That's really the only thing that matters when it comes to the hookability of emulated games.

How do you check if it has custom encoding?

well hat is a plugin for cheat engine to auto convert the hexa code but you need to find the address memory first

Yeah, you're exactly right. Still converting the hex code manually each time doesn't really make it fun reading imo. So if hat works that would be ideal ^^

maybe with cheat engine, i would love to try it myself but i dont want and wont install win 10 specially if im not sure that i can even hook the text :P  still thanks for the effort

Perhaps HAT will work. Might be cool to look into yeah.

Edit: I'll try out HAT and see how it works.

I still haven't finished it because I got kinda bored of it, but it's pretty long and convers a decent portion of the story from the people I've talked to about it. I'd say you'll at least get more than 20-30 hours of story if you read everything.

But it only covers 3 character routes, then you have what's called the "Next Beat" route which I guess is a segway for the next volume. The rest is just collecting all the CGs and extras, which granted take some time too. I don't know how they plan on connecting things to the next volume since they cover such a large part of the original story.

One of the reasons I got bored is because the story was so similar to the anime, but since it covers so much from the anime, hopefully the next volumes will be more original.

As for next volume annoucements, no information has come out so far.

The vn repeating a lot of what happened in the anime has put me off playing it honestly. Although I liked the anime a lot. I don't really have the patience to re-watch/read scenes I've already seen in the anime.

I am hoping if/when the 2nd beat will come out it will be more original content. And someone will describe a summary of the first beat or something so you know what new happened in the first beat.

  6. Read 75 vn's, 35 of them in jp and 40 of them in English. Soon I'll actually have read more vns in jp than english, that's nice.

I have quite many unfinished vn's around I've just quickly tried  out. 40 something I am guessing. I honestly have no idea

Started reading vn's 5 years ago. Started reading in jp 2 years ago. Considered I put effort into jp just to play vns. I have no idea when I am actually going to stop playing. I might end up as Cerulangamer if this keeps up. I don't really see any reason to stop playing. As I read more vns and try harder ones I start enjoying new sides to Japanese. I always have more vns I want to read. Some are too hard for me to read comfortably/enjoyably, so I look forwards to them later. One year later or so when you start playing the vns you postponed. It just feels sooo Gooood. You feel like a boss.

  7. If you want to feel the sensation of groping one, for starters try filling a ballon with water and hold it in your hands. That's how jiggly they are.

    ...You've done it?

I mean, I know Ren has. But you have?

Yes, I actually have. But that's not the real deal. I tried groping on a real, natural, and a lively one at that, and payed the price.

But man oh man, it was soft. No regrets!:sachi:

That's at least one fuwan with a restraining order

If they say "NOOooo!". It just means they are shy. -Eroge experience.

  8. First person shooters the entire gameplay depends on your experience while moving and looking around. If you have 30 fps the experience will feel highly choppy and unresponsive, it's just not fun. Having a steady 40-60 fps is alright. That's really all you need mostly..

If you really like twich-type of FPS games you might want a 120 hz monitor with some kind of reduction of motion blur tech such a lightboost. For the majority of people that's a waste of money though.

  9. In situations such as that. I tend to just continue to read the text some more lines forward. Usually I get it then. If I still don't. I consider if it's actually important to understand that sentence. If it's about some food dish or other pointless thing. Ijust continue on reading and don't mind it. If it's important to the story I scroll back and read the backlog and think some more. If that doesn't work, I give up. And go back to reading normally.

  10. I'm sorry, but I can't get the the Chiitrans textbox to appear during full screen. Not when I hook the text with ITH. When I open a VN with Chiitrans I can get it to work full screen, but not if I uses Chiitrans to display text from a clipboard like ITH. I already viewed the video you linked about this issue, and it didn't help.

Edit: Actually I just tried running another VN through Chiitrans and the textbox wouldn't appear during fullscreen mode either.

Edit 2: I found that fullscreen (regardless of whether I use ITH or run it through Chiitrans) works for some VNs and not for others. And this confuses me. Am I not doing something right?

I haven't encountered your problem. But have you tried changing to the chiitrans window while in fullscreen by using alt+tab? It might work.

  11. Tried out http://capture2text.sourceforge.net/ it's a OCR software. It works but mainly just on roughly 1 - 5 kanji in one go. So a lot of tedious work to do. Sometimes it really doesn't want to work. So the usual OCR there..

Worked out the first 3 lines of txt...

  12. Also for some reason 7Zip doesn't want to recognize Edict2.gz as an archive file, so I can't extract it. Any ideas or alternative downloads in Zip or Rar format?

You if re-downloading the file doesn't work. Then you prbly don't need to extract it with 7zip. Just put the edict2 file into the dictionary folder of TA. Then run TA. You will know it works if TA has created a edict2.bin file in the dictionary folder.

  13. I tend to dedicate 30-60 mins before I go to bed for vn reading and some random fuwa'ing. Nice way to unwind and relax before going to sleep for me. I found it a lot more better than playing action games or whatever that easily can drag me into a spiral of " I can sleep later orz ".

It's really soothing for the soul for me. As corny as it sounds.
