Daydreamer97 got a reaction from ChaosRaven in Nightshade Ninja otome VN released on Steam
I just finished Nightshade and I'll have to say this is one of the best otomes available on Steam. The art, the music, and the voice acting is great. The story is decent and it really depends on the person whether or not they'll like it. The heroine, Enju (default name is voiced) makes for a great heroine. She can be a really badass shinobi in certain routes. The guys are also pretty great and I liked the cast overall. All in all, I really recommend it if you like otome. Otherwise, it serves as a great introduction to otome games.

Hey there! I was the translator for Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome, so I can confirm it doesn't have any of the stuff you listed. :> The devs, Kalmia8, recently released another game as well, Kami-sama Nante Yondenai! which, while I've only played the demo, seems to be in the same vein of light-hearted romance stuff.
Alternatively, would you be into something like Cute Demon Crashers? Not sure if it's the right art style you're looking for, but it's fairly vanilla, sex-positive stuff. There is one route (Orias) where there's light bondage, but the game is all focused around consent, so you can control how much of that aspect you prefer, IIRC.
    Hope that helps!

I think a game that fits what you are looking for is Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome, which is coming out in English sometime soon thanks to MangaGamer. It's an otome eroge that looks really good, and according to the tags on VNDB, it doesn't have any of the content that you said you don't want in the game.

Remember11 is INCREDIBLE about this. It basically takes place in two different settings at once, and there are two protagonists- the driving force of the story being that THEY KEEP SWITCHING BODIES. Essentially it's a huge perspective shift, and even besides that the game incorporates two routes- one for each protagonist. Let's say that you did something you obviously shouldn't have as Satoru in Satoru's body, and died on the third day. If you start to play the Kokoro route right after, you die on the third day without warning when you shift perspectives- because Satoru died in that body on the third day!
Definitely play R11 if you want to read a VN about shifts in perspective.
Ever17, also of the Infinity series, plays with perspective as well. Two routes are from one perspective while two of them are from another perspective.
I also agree that The House In Fata Morgana frames its story beautifully, but it isn't necessarily a perspective shift per se. Check it out anyway,
999 employs perspective in a fucking LEGENDARY way but I can't explain more.

This reminds me of Fata Morgana. If I recall correctly, it handled perspective shifts in a similar way.

    Hi o/
I did a little analysis on changing trends in Visual Novels using the voting data on vndb if anyone is interested. I put up the first part of the series here:
    https://bunnyadvocate.tumblr.com/post/159429107647/visual-novels-the-rise-of-a-medium
This is part of a whole series of posts, with my next post looking at protags, and what kinds of traits different types of protags are associating with according to an analysis of the tag distribution on vndb.
If you guys have any questions or comments about it, then I'd love to chat about it.

Best: The House in Fata Morgana. This is what sold me on non-otome VNs after Higurashi. It's absolutely beautiful, the art was fantastic, the story made me cry and made for one of the best experiences I have with regards to literature. It's one of the most fantastic works I've read and I've read a lot. The music was outstanding and the whole thing was just an incredible ride from start to finish.

    Worst: None so far.

The Royal Trap should be no darker than Amnesia: Memories was at times. An otome (mostly) VN with a very nice dosage of Royal politics and cunning and battles of wits.
There's at least one completely light-hearted route, actually. Very nice.
As for light-hearted titles on steam... I can recommend some Yuri, like Highway Blossoms (some relatively light drama at points) and Kindred Spirits on the Roof... These are amazing if you like Yuri.
The thing about light-hearted moege is that most I've read end up not being on steam (yet)... And the ones I did and ended up there are not always light-hearted like the classics CLANNAD, G-Senjou and Grisaia...
The three I just mentioned I'll always always recommend in any circumstance. Regardless, expect some serious drama within and at points.
The only thing I can recommend in good conscience is Princess Evangile, as the drama is never too serious, and it is otherwise a standard moege.
    ----
It's true that there's been a lot of moege localised recently, but I haven't played most of them yet.

One thing to appreciate, at least Frontwing is engaging with fans, trying to see what they can do differently. They did this with Sharin no Kuni, and are going to bring back the KS after making changes, and now this. Just this bit of outreach can do wonders for a company's image cough cough

I think they're kind of finally getting a hold on their Kickstarter campaigns, though. Grisaia should be fully translated by the end of the year (whether or not it releases by then is a different story), World End Economica's third episode is finally coming out soon, Narcissu has had steady releases, Memory's Dogma's first part is coming out soon, and Vita ports have been officially announced.
They also haven't launched a Kickstarter since Root Double back in January. They did launch two Indiegogo campaigns since then but their turnaround has been much faster. Still, other than the Nekopara anime, they haven't announced plans for more Kickstarters of their VNs, which is what I'd be concerned about. People are complaining that their non-crowdfunded titles are taking too long to come out. How do we know that they aren't focusing on their crowdfunding promises while those are being translated?
Like I said, though, they've had three panels in the past month and have only announced a few doujin titles. With only one planned convention left, it seems a little weird to tell them to stop announcing stuff. They probably will stop soon.
edit: Look at it this way: if Sekai Project had planned Kickstarter projects for even two or three of the VNs they announced this year, I'd be concerned too. But it honestly looks like their non-crowdfunded titles are taking longer than their crowdfunded projects. It's not like the promises to their backers are going to the wayside and other titles are being released sooner. It seems like they're just slow in general.

I might pick up Gahkthun this week so Sona-Nyl got me interested (the Alice in Wonderland in New York sold it). There's no otome game announced but I'm happy with a story title featuring a female protagonist. Plus, if it will be released next year, I'll be 18 then so I can read it without guilt. Hapymaher's description interested me but since I haven't read an 18+ VN before (Gahkthun might be the first), I'm not sure if I'll read it. I don't know if I'll read SonoHana since I'm not so into yuri vns. I might buy Sorcery Jokers when it's out.
So there's 2 titles I might buy plus Bocchi Musume and The House in Fata Morgana fandisc out of Mangagamer's 2016 announcements. I'm pretty satisfied.

Actually started with free to play otome games in late 2014 and moved on to Voltage games (the ones with a pay-per-route system) in 2015. I also discovered PC otome games, mostly original English releases. Early this year, I got Steam and used steam wallet to purchase Amnesia and a couple of indie otomes. Later on, while looking for more localized otomes, I stumbled into visual novels that aren't focused on romance. I started reading the first two chapters of Higurashi a month ago and then moved on to The House in Fata Morgana. Currently, I just bought Umineko Ch. 1-4 on Steam and will start soon. After discovering visual novels on Steam, I built up a wishlist and my backlog.

Daydreamer97 reacted to Nosebleed in Baldry Sky 18+ version poll on Sekai Project forums
Sure, 2 parties are involved in a contract, but the devs are the ones that own the rights to the game and all of its content, so it's not unreasonable to think they're the ones making decisions like "no announcing 18+ content until we say it's ok". It's their game after all.
Saying Sekai Project decides to just shaft 18+ material is pretty ignorant imo. It doesn't make any sense for them to purposefully do that when it's such an important thing for most of the community.
I'm not saying I know all the facts, I obviously don't, and I'm ALSO not saying "hey we should push the blame somewhere else", what I am saying is that we should stop whining and direct our efforts into something productive instead of pure anger at either Sekai Project OR the developers.
Because dovac has already explictly told everybody they can't say anything at the time, you can conclude 2 things:
Dovac is more than aware fans want an 18+ version of the game He is unable to let you in on any extra info but has promised to disclose it when an appropriate time comes Hearing this, the conclusion I reached is that all I can do at the moment is wait, because I'm pretty sure Sekai Project is already doing what they can to negotiate an 18+ version of the game. And if they're not, the most I'll do is just say something "hey it'd be nice if we could have this" on their page, not raise my pitchfork and alienate any form of discussion.

I have no idea if there are anyone translating vns in Filipino. As far as I know, people who read vns are likely to be pretty fluent in English so I don't think anyone's doing that here. Besides, like Tagalog dubbed stuff, people would just think it's weird to read a VN in Filipino. It's weird enough to read bestsellers in Filipino actually.

I'm hoping for a good otome game, hopefully Ozmafia sold well enough for Mangagamer to localize another title. But, a good story based vn like The House in Fata Morgana would be great too. I've played Tokyo Babel's demo and it was pretty good, definitely a step above the stuff I usually play. I'd like to see something like that as well. However, Sekai Project seems to bag a lot of big name titles but I don't know how they choose which ones they localize since they seem kind of unpredictable(?).

I finished No, Thank You!!! a bit ago. It was my first BL title, and I liked it enough. The art is very nice, and it's one of those stories that you can tell has been very well planned out in advance, which always makes me happy. There's a lot of replay value, and the addition of new text after finishing portions of the game helps with that, but it does make it very annoying to get 100%.

I might move on to Ozmafia, but I'm going to want to read Grisaia no Meikyuu when it comes out as well. Should I wait on Ozmafia and get Grisaia as soon as it comes out, or start Ozmafia now? And is there a recommended route order for Ozmafia?

I like Satoi's art. I haven't played Diabolik Lovers yet but the art looks gorgeous. I've been playing Ozmafia for a while now and I loved the art. It looks like watercolor paintings or something. It's pretty soft and feminine, in contrast to the darker theme in DL. I also haven't read The House in Fata Morgana yet but I like Moyataro's art. It's something I don't usually see in a VN, and I think that the gothic art style is beautiful.

This is very different from otome games, but you did say you were willing to try out other stuff: (They are all all-ages or have censored releases on steam. Have written which one has what next to the game title.)
The devil on G-string (Non 18+ version on steam. It's a battle of wits, mystery type story. The game is quite heavy in both violence and sexual themes, though the version on steam is like I said, a censored version with the H-scenes taken out.)
If my heart had wings (Non 18+ version on steam. The steam version does have a few rather awkward English sentences and a little bit of a wonky translation, but it is still very enjoyable. It's a fluffy and cute slice of life game, with a simple but nice story.)
Planetarian (All-ages. Fairly short nakige. Strongly recommend it.)
Princess Evangile (Non 18+ version on steam. The story is very simple here, but if you like slice of life stories, then I'd give it a shot.)
A kiss for the petals: remembering how we met. (A yuri story. It's short, it's cute and it's all ages. Worth giving it a try if you like yuri.)
