  2. Hey guys! There's really no reason I'm posting this but......have a nice day I guess?
  3. As some people have said before me, VN's are more like books, I mean, it's even in the name - Visual NOVEL. Of course, I understand why many people would think of VN's as 'games', but there really isn't much gameplay mechanics in your average VN (apart from saves but that's just more for convenience than anything else, like bookmarks). You could probably create a VN/Game hybrid, where the each player is a different character and they all read the same thing but from a different perspective and there are small actual games to play. But I just don't think an idea like this will work just as a VN. I mean, what's the difference between reading with another person and reading on your own, for example, when you're reading a book, you don't just let someone else read with you from the same book, you tell them to get their own (if you had common sense at least) and after that you just read seperately. You might discuss it later, but that's just discussion after reading. Besides, VN's are more for 'alone time' if you know what I mean. Initially, a multiplayer VN may seem like a good idea, but when you really look into what makes an enjoyable multiplayer game, the way VN's are just doesn't work with multiplayer. Also regarding The Yawhg, it's not really multiplayer as it is just people reading the same story together, more like, gather around the campfire to hear the story kind of thing. There are choices yes, but it seems like it's just one guy picking the choices and the other people advise him on what to do. It's like picking a choice in Mass Effect and people tell you what choice to pick if your playing in the sitting room with friends. So yeah, not really multiplayer. More, people being told a story together. I wouldn't really call it a VN and as you said, it wasn't marketed as one. I'd probably call it more of an interactive experience with other people? It's a bit like those pick your own adventure text adventure games, a bit different from VN's. How is it different? I don't actually know how to describe it, but somebody else probably will know so I'd proabably just wait for them to appear. I guess it's the experience that's different I guess? And most people read VN's for the experience that it is. If you changed that experience it probably turns into a pick your own adventure game that I mentioned above.
  4. I wouldn't consider many VN's to be "masterpieces" but a lot have come close (then again, it depends on what you think is a masterpiece). I really like Clannad, it's one of only two VN's that have actually made me cry, I haven't read a "huge" amount of VN's but I'd say I've read a decent amount and most just don't make me that emotionally involved. Clannad was my first KEY VN though so I didn't notice how people are saying they ripped off the characters (but then again, how could I, it was my first Key VN, totally not doing this to make my post look longer by the way). I recommend watching the anime after reading the VN too, some moments are just.......manly tears? (or womanly tears depending on who you are but...) Basically, any Key VN is at the very least decent if not very good. Also, (this should probably be a whole new thread but....meh) has anyone read a VN that actually made them bawl their eyes out. I mean, I'll probably shed tears at a very emotional moment. But I haven't actually "cryed" when reading a VN (like my face just flooding with tears). Soooooooo, does anyone have any recommendations?
  5. No, it's a very expensive hobby collecting stuff like this you know(according to the price tags of merch that I've seen at least). Besides, it's a bit awkward to have your friends know that you collect anime girls when they go into your room. Maybe I would've collected stuff if I wasn't in such a dire finacial situation or if my friends learned about the english word of "privacy" or "personal space".
  6. If I had to choose between the two then it would be Western RPGs. As much as I love JRPGs I just think that most western RPGs have better gameplay (or rather, gameplay that I prefer). In terms of story, it's not really a set thing you know? There could be JRPGs with atrocious stories and great gameplay and vice versa(or both). Now, I know what you're thinking, well most JRPGs have better stories! Well actually, most popular JRPGs have good stories (but then again so do most western RPGs...... ). Anyways, what I wanted to say was that debating whether western RPGs or JRPGs have better stories is kinda.... pointless since there is so much variety, you know what I mean? (or maybe you don't, oh well ) Moving on, I'm quite excited for Mass Effect Andromeda (huge Mass Effect fan). Not quite sure how it's gonna turn out though, cos of EA. Also excited for Cyberpunk because at this point, I think we all kinda expect good things from CD Projekt Red. Shenmue 3 seems quite interesting too, not sure about how it's gonna turn out though since the kickstarter stretch goals kinda seemed like they were planning to fund the whole game through kickstarter. I mean, they got 6 million(which is huge for a kickstarter) but the previous shenmue games costed A LOT more to make.
  7. Not sure this is worth posting but, does hard mode change anything story wise?
  8. Just finished Yumina's route and it took ages. The common route and the character routes probably don't take a lot of time themselves but the dungeons were extremely tedious and time-consuming. By the way, I wouldn't really consider the first spoiler to actually be a spoiler but I just wanted to be on the safe side.
  9. I actually started reading Yumina some time ago, never finished it though so this will probably encourage me to finish it.
