  2. Yesterday I finished Nanairo Reincarnation and I really enjoyed this VN. The cast is really great including the protagonist who is not a dense idiot, and the banter between the cast is genuinely funny. So there is a general light hearted atmosphere which is then contrasted with heavier, emotional scenes and while this often does not work for me because the author cannot balance and separate these scenes, Nanairo Reincarnation manages to deliver both. It is funny when it's wants to be without distracting from the emotional scenes. Asuza is probably my favorite heroine and her route and ending feels the most satisfying to me beside Kotorin's, but Kotorin is a close second (she is really cute). And while I personally didn't enjoy the ending of Yumi's route that much I liked her as a character and found it interesting what they did with her route. (Being the ex-girlfriend of the protagonist is rare enough.) Only Iyos route didn't really impress me much, which isn't to say that she isn't a good character. But all that didn't distract from my enjoyment of this VN, I laughed while playing and I cried and there isn't much more I could hope for with a story. I would recommend reading Clephas' review here if you are on the fence on Nanairo Reincarnation, because he is pretty spot on: Personally I think Nanairo Reincarnation is definitely worth the read. Are people here interested in best girl / best route type poll for this thread?
  3. Tokyo Babel (Forgot about Samael, she is a side character) Hanachirasu
  4. There is one scene that I encountered that is bugged. I think it's called "Meal 4". It is a dinner scene. I think the bug is caused by line that is erroneously inserted from earlier that day. My solution for the problem is that I clicked through the scene until it's over , save there, go to the main menu and read the scene again in the scene selection from the main menu where it is not bugged!
  5. I have heard nowhere that they declared bankruptcy! In the article that Seraphim88 quoted it states "The official Twitter account for the sprite company revealed on Sunday that the company will cease operations at the end of March, and its "sprite STORE" online store will also close at the same time." Cease operations is not a bankruptcy. In another article it is state that they halted operations. So their financial situation was never so dire that they had to declare bankruptcy instead they decided to stop and sell their brand (Sprite) and the rights to their games. What is left open for interpretation is if they made a loss with Aokana and decided to stop or if they thought that the profit of Aokana was to small for the effort that they put in and considering the trend for the Vn industry (declining) they decided to stop before they make a loss. But I guess it matter little in the grand scheme of things. Here are link to the arcticles I am referring to: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2019-02-11/aokana-game-maker-sprite-halts-operations-at-end-of-march/.143245 https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2018-06-26/aokana-game-maker-sprite-halts-operations/.133419
  6. What you say could make sense (Having more interest in the western market and wanting to translate more games etc.), depending on how independent Mangagamer and Nexton are. If they are rather independent companies what you said makes sense, but if Nexton had a lot of influence over Mangagamer they could demand Mangagamer to focus more on their titles. Or that they expand there staff to work on more projects. (Since most staff for the translation are freelancer anyway. Not that there is an unlimited supply of capable translation staff. Quite the contrary.) But I guess we won't ever get the full picture of how they are (financial) structured and connected. It would be pretty interesting to see what happens behinds the scenes of the official translation scene and probably pretty headache inducing.
  7. Thanks for posting this, I wasn't aware of their english website and Discord. I am a bit confused why they want to work with another llocalization company beside MG. Isn't MG founded by them (together with other companies) or is that a misunderstanding on my part? Anyway I voted for: Yami to Hikari no Sanctuary
  8. Don't quote me on that because I have no source, but I am pretty sure I read somewhere that sprite didn't go under but decided to stop making VNs, to seek more profitable work elsewhere. (mobile games?) I think it was on twitter or Discord where someone more familiar with sprite or the Japanese industry wrote that, but I would be happy if someone could point me to a source that prove or disprove what I just said.
  9. I finished Yumi's route and am now starting Azusa's route. How far are you?
  10. He was probably referring to this guide on Seiya-Saiga: http://seiya-saiga.com/game/silkysplus/nanarin.html (It's usable with Google translate if you can't read japanese like me.)
  11. Yeah I also prefer the new character designs over the old ones and as far as I am concerned I can very clearly see the resemblance of both designs.
  12. I am curious about Keishichou Tokumu Bu Tokushu Kyouakuhan Taisaku Shitsu Dai Nana Ka: Tokunana since it's written by Higashide Yuuichirou the author of Tokyo Babel and Fate/Apocrypha. Original anime are interesting, since at least they are not just overblown commercials for a manga or LN.
  13. Discord. Here is the quote from one of the testers. That's all I got for now. Once I read both versions I can say more, but it will take a while.
  14. As far as I know the all age version (Steam version) has the content of the vita version which replaces the 18+ scenes. The denpasoft (18+) version is the same as the original Japanese PC release. The free 18+ dlc/patch overwrites the vita content of the steam version and reverts it to the windows version. So you can have either the 18+ content or the vita content but not both at the same time. I plan to go through the all age version after I read 18+ version, but as far as I heard the vita content only replaces the 18+ content.
  15. Yeah that was also my first thought. It worked for me without a problem. Maybe ask on the Sekai Discord channel? Here is the link: https://discord.gg/sekai-project
  16. Nanairo Reincarnation is out now! Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/751450/Nanairo_Reincarnation/ Denpasoft: https://denpasoft.com/collections/games/products/nanairo-reincarnation Denpasoft: 18+ DLC (Free) https://denpasoft.com/collections/dlc/products/nanairo-reincarnation-18-dlc Have fun!
  17. Maggot Baits is a weird one for me. On one hand what I know about the setting, the story and the atmosphere seem like something I would enjoy, but on the other hand I have seen some of the CGs and Guro (as in sexualized violence/gore) is something I really don't enjoy. I know there is the option to put some black bars (or something like that) over the visuals but it's not that I can't stomach the violence or gore, it's such just that I don't enjoy guro so that option wouldn't help. It actually mirrored in the opening: I really like the music and the general vibe and then in the second half they put some of the CGs in... =/ So in the end I think this release is going to be a pass for me, but I still hope the release is going to be successful for Mangagamer because the Dead Days opening also looks even better and since I haven't seen any of those CGs I still have the hope that I would enjoy that title should Mangagamer ever get around to translate that one.
  18. We had to wait quite a while but it seems like the wait is finally over! Nanairo Reincarnation is releasing on September 27th! (Just 3 more days!) Here is the Link to the Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/751450/Nanairo_Reincarnation/ I am looking forward to the title, but it is pretty unfortunate that it now releases after all those delays in a pretty crowded time frame. (Aokana releases the same day, Onii-Kiss releases today I think, Farther Than the Blue Sky and Sengoku Rance just released.) As soon as I know more about the Denpasoft release or a possible patch for the Steam version I will update the thread. EDIT: According to Discord Nanairo Reincarnation will also be on Denpasoft along a free 18+ DLC. The price will be 29,99$ and a 10% launch discount.
  19. The Kickstarter is planned to launch September 30th. But before that there is the link to their Prefundia page: https://prefundia.com/project/5d824b960d196e65b25aa013 If you have any feedback I am sure they would like to hear it.
  20. My first VN was Season of the Sakura but that was before I ever heard the term VN. Back then I would have called it a Dating Sim because well it involved dating a girl. In any case I only played one route and thought it was fun, only to proceed to ignore/forget VNs for a good while (i.e. years) after that. The next contact with VNs was probably the Clannad anime. After that I thought man you should have read the VN, that way I wouldn't have to deal with Nagisa who I really didn't like. Well jokes on me, later I found out that Nagisa is the true route and I ended up never reading Clannad.
  21. The contrast between the picture and the voice was a bit shocking at first. Besides that I like the idea. I mean it didn't offer much if you follow the scene closely, but not everybody does or has the time. Even for me this short reminder of what happened in the last two months was nice. I generally liked that you put relevant pictures in the background with most news, as an visual aid. It would be nice to extend that to the new announcements during the conventions, or if that is to much work to edit, at least put list of the announced titles in the background. A lot of the new titles don't have translated names when they get announced and It would be easier to see the name on screen for the new projects. I liked that you incorporated some Japanese news as well (new Yuzusoft and Minato announcements) but I am afraid that you open a whole can of worms with that. I am sure there where plenty of Japanese VN news, announcements and releases during that time, so how do select what to feature in your news video and what not.
  22. I am not qualified to talk about the Japanese VN industry as a whole, but from my limited personal perspective it looks pretty bad. VN developers close down all the time (Light , Propeller , Minori ) or they leave the VN scene to chase the bigger money in the mobile market (Type-Moon , Sprite ) and it is hard to judge how much this void is being filled with newer developers because in the west they only become known after they make a name for themselves. And from a personal perspective, a majority of releases seems to be "moege" and/or nukige which I don't have much interest in, which causes the dead of companies like Light to be amplified tenfold. There aren't that much companies that consistently put out games outside of the moege/charage genre that interested me, like Light or Nitroplus , so every loss is hard. And unfortunately the translations that are released in west seem to mirror the high representation of "moege/charage" and nukige. Obviously I have no insight into the Japanese market and my perception is heavily influenced by my personal taste, but my outlook for the VN industry is pretty pessimistic.
  23. It really pains me to read this. @Conjueror passing away is a real loss for this community. I am going to miss his opinions and reviews on his blog.
