  1. Find out what would you need to get a visa from that Japanese school before you do anything. You don't get a visa, you're out. And one important thing, you will never, ever be "part of the family" there, so better not get your hopes up.

Also, their educational system is shit. Primary school kids going to cram schools? GTFO, no wonder they end up killing themselves so much.

  2. Not CG related, but Flowers has plenty of mistakes. They get practically everything about catholicism wrong (which covers from background information to the answer to a question in one of the detective sections) which is kinda funny when the whole VN takes place in a catholic high-school. Still a good VN though.

I can only hope that the VN gets better from now on, but so far, I'm not impressed.

So, I'm also playing Dies Irae (except that I'm about to start the final route) and while it does get better, the shounen crap never goes away. Nor does the remedial high-school level philosobabble, sadly.

  4. Saya no Uta will give you warm and fuzzy feelings. If you don't mind gameplay, 999 is a pretty good, newbie-friendly mindfuck (though it is kind-of Sci Fi.) Ever 17 is the original version, and while in my opinion is better, it also has some serious pacing issues. And Symphonic Rain's pretty good, too (dem feels)

  5. It's simple, to read stories that I couldn't normally read in other mediums (say, books or comics) because they're either 1) way, waaaay out there (MYTH, Saya no Uta or Euphoria, for example) or 2) because they use storytelling devices that are not available in other media (Ever 17, 999 and Remember 11 are the first examples that come to mind.)

Basically I read VNs for mindfucks and weird shit, and VNs are pretty good at it.
