Easily the best Venus Blood game, story-wise and gameplay-wise.  Not to mention the protagonist and main heroine have an insanely strong personal bond that makes you really root for them, though they are evil.

Mangagamer is one of the oldest localizers and still stands pretty strong. They also currently provides a central store for many other VN localizers, with steam being so dodgy this is pretty important.
the only thing they are missing is consistently decent titles, I havent bought anything from them for a while. Wish they'd release more stuff like Sorcery Jokers

Their titles are still more interesting than the ones Sekai and Sol are releasing tho. Still dont get why Sol are obsessed with the niche titles

They are still my favorite localization company.  I've purchased more than 50 titles from them and I'll continue to purchase more in the future - including Musicus.  I've been looking forward to Musicus for a long time and I'm glad it finally got officially announced.  I agree with some of the other posters that most people who complain are a small minority, people who don't know much about the localization process, and pirates.  Same with the people who complain about JAST, NIS America, xseed, and the other localizers - the complaints are almost always very similar to each other, regardless of the specific localizer or the game or the genre.

Nah man, no drama was caused. None of us have any reason to be militant about MG, or be offended by the suggestion they're losing importance. It's just not the case when you look at the realities of the VN scene in the West, and don't focus on the occasional flamewar.

Yup, as @Mr Poltroon said, but I'd argue this undersells MGs importance. They're a company with a particularly diverse offering and one that is very consistent with their releases. They also tackle projects that no sane company should be willing to take, like translating Rance X (which is an absurdly large and complex game). While you have companies like NekoNyan focusing purely on moege, Sekai Project trips on its own legs every other month and JastUSA is lost in its own dimension where the timeflow doesn't follow the rules of our universe, MG gets stuff done. Right now, while there's generally more competition on the market and some developers, like Key and Frontwing, translate and publish their VNs in-house, it might not seem that important, but I think it still is. If MG suddenly disappeared, we would feeel it, particularly when it goes to more ambitious/niche VNs reaching the West. So, even though their image definitely suffered through all this drama, they're kind of indispensable and when they take on a project, you can be fairly sure it'll get done unless something really unusual happens.

Mangagamer releases an VN that interests me, I buy it just as always.
On the points in that thread.
Dude can definetely work as a TL in the right circumstances but it was kinda blanket TLd which isn't really optimal, the pressure the translator felt could probably have contributed to forgoing a more nuaced approach.
Lot's of TL criticisms are rather uninformed imo, when people kick up a fuss about a noun -> noun TL choices and then point to some stilted TL that include all their favorite Japanisms but bungle the JP grammar and context in ways that completely change what's being said at points as "how a good TL is done" it becomes somewhat hard to take them seriously.
I mean if it wasn't framed as some crusade against the evil "localization" conspiracy so often and people presented their questions in a more open manner it would be fine I guess.
On the working conditions point, that is concerning but it's extremely hard to judge from the outside though, so I'm just hoping that things resolves in a way that no one gets screwed over.
On the discord stuff, I just think people are being divas and should calm down and not be so easily offended.
And on the Fatamoru stuff, outrage outlet saw lots of easy add money to be made and whipped up people who have no idea what they are talking about into an fit.

Uh, yes they are. As much as anybody else.
They translate titles into English and that's that. Not much else really matters, despite what loud vocal minorities might claim.
Somebody having problems with translations has always been common and underpayment is supposedly getting better but Mangagamer is terrible in that area and for that they deserve all the flak.
That all said, as long as they put out titles people who want translated VNs will get them, regardless of the company. Some boycotters exist, but not really a majority and given the piracy levels I'm not sure how much overlap there is between the "boycotters" and the pirates.
From the Japanese side they're well placed with headquarters in Japan and, considering the Japanese side often is unaware of the quality of translations (Hello SakuraGame), Mangagamer likely does not have problems landing deals on that front.

So, all in all, I'm not sure I understood what you're trying to say. As long as they have money and they continue to want to translate titles, they will do so.

I see no point in being ashamed of liking hentai scenes or playing eroges in general. Its pretty human to be lustful and seek avenues to satisfy said lustful desires, as long no one is harmed along the way except you that is.
In fact I like hentai animated scenes found on Imouto Paradise and eroges made by Zyx and softhouse-seal or anything that is animated!
One primary why westerners are reluctant to express their interests  in hentai or visual novels, eroges in general is because of their Judeo-Christian influences and doctrines. believing embracing sex or other sensual actives of the flesh simply for its pleasurable nature than procreating is deserving of contempt and humiliation. I don't really want to include religion nevertheless its part of the reason why...
By the God's! We're already involving ourselves into questionable content that crosses the red thin line. just imagine all those lolis and underage girls the MCs are fucking in the eroges that we play/read....
Why not just accept who we really are. Embrace that darkness within
Who gives a damn what other's or society in general thinks of our hobbies, if you find happiness in visual novels/eroges, that's all that matters. everything else is irrelevant...

Out of all of them I'd recommend Grisaia as your first choice, especially if you want humor as the common route may be long but it is very funny (especially Michiru's antics). Not very many choices in that one though aside from what route you go on (just don't play Yumiko and Makina's route back to back). As for the second one I'd recommend either G Senjou no Maou or Muv Luv; the former if you want some humor to go along with a bit of a thriller and also want the added bonus of the main antagonist being voiced by a before he was famous Jun Fukuyama, ironically doing what feels like a take on the later role that would make him famous , and with the latter if you want a slice of life comedy.

The first arc of Gaiden 2 takes place in the same country as FF2 where they do reference things that happened in that game's story; to say anymore would be a spoiler so I recommend playing and enjoying from there.

I'll actually advise against skipping FF2. Although I like Lute as much as any other person, I actually prefer Ruin (FF2's Protagonist) as the protagonist because he actively participates in the plot, rather than simply stumbling through sheer dumb luck. Some of the ways that he deliberately talks circles around his foes as well as around the heroines are also actually very endearing.
I also prefer the heroines and the political landscape of FF2, but that's personal preference. I do believe that FF Gaiden 2 is the best entry in the series though.

I have been remiss in one thing.  Now that this thread has been necro'ed, I see it.  I never formally announced I wasn't going to be updating here anymore.  The updates just stopped.  I didn't even provide the link to the real status tracker pasted half a page or so above.  So here goes...
This project is not cancelled.  I am editing it.  This thread will not receive periodic updates with percentages anymore.  That was mostly useful because VNTS pulled numbers from here, and VNTS was high profile so feeding it accurate numbers was useful.  But there is no more VNTS and never will be again (the 2 updates last July only hammer that point home).  So there's no point in manually compiling percentage data to dump into posts here.  All that data is automatically tracked at the project official tracker: https://cookie4.com/projects/skm1/progress/
Progress is slow.  I wasn't happy with the original work I'd done, so I started over.  The percentage didn't reset to 0, so all the lines I edited before still show as edited.  Consequently a bunch of work doesn't show up there, and that will stay a problem more or less until I finish Shoku.

You can always go for the dragoness. She's probably the most selfless woman of all as she likes him even without that pitiful excuse of squeezing his sperm for gaining strength. She is blunt, clingy, simple, doesn't uses protagonist as a mere tool for gaining more energy, unlike other heroines. She likes him just the way he is, whether he has any specialty or not. That feels more natural and not forced and repetitive like in vampire/yuki onna and oni route. There is no pointless melodramatic emotional baggage in her route + she's fun to be with. The Protagonist doesn't have to pretend being "always a nice guy" around her, and thus can honestly express himself.
Regardless of human or non human heroine, in the end, their traits makes them most unique. You can choose either sly, manipulative, over-controlling ones or, the free-spirited, easygoing one. Of course, for those who aim for a harem route even in Nakige, "i want 'em all", is sort of an unavoidable regret. However, this game in particular gives much more satisfaction in individual routes, as its not porn without plot, or without negative after feelings (cheating yuki onna heroines, the protagonist being used, abused and subjected to forced memory loss etc).

Not buying from MG due to discord leak seems kind of stupid if you ask me, I would guess pretty much anyone in retail sometimes behind closed doors talk about annoying customers. And considering the 90% piracy rates and low pay I think it is pretty understandable that they rant among themselves when people are acting in an annoying way.
