Oh unless you mean the menu images? Or something GUI/HUD related? We have those translated and edited, and all the coding work done for that. Just cracked that a few months ago.

Yep, that's what I meant haha I'm not too confident on my Japanese level to tackle an actual full translation nor the time

Pay attention to ".feat flower :P"

Hiiragi Kirai my beloved 🛐🛐🛐🛐 flower might be just my favorite vocaloid, ngl (probably next to gumi)

Their newest release is also a banger omg

It does also have a human vocal ver, that is just as good aaa :sacchya: I've been listening to these non-stop :abipog:

  3. Oh man, I just LOVED this post! First of all, thank you for this! It's lovely :wink-1: I'm from Portugal and read almost exclusively in English, but I only discovered VNs (back in 2016) through ZeroCorpse (a en > pt-br translation blog for RPGM) and through them, I came to find ZeroForceTranslations. For some reason, even though I had only played one or two VNs, I contacted them and tried for a translator position - and lo and behold, I never left them till this day haha it's a shame we had to formally close and stop our activities (mostly because we all had our adult responsibilities and couldn't keep up) and though it's now a closed chapter in my life, I'm so proud of all the gems we translated; I'm only with ZFT since the project for Little Busters, but those were fun times for sure. Nowadays I still help where I can - either independently, with an old translation buddy or with VNX+, the great group behind Steins;Gate's translation* and I'm helping to bring our lovely catgirls to Portuguese :poipoi: Sadly I can confirm just how bad some TLs are... I'm not giving names, but we only took an entire year to finish Clannad's TL because the previous group working on it had translated it pretty much in a literal fashion and worse, the English fantl they followed was even more literal. Yikes. I remember how many gems we had screenshoted for that game alone :ren:

Anyways, even though I'm not Brazilian (I'm from Portugal and no I do not know where the gold is), I am a Portuguese speaker and I want more people to know how amazing visual novels are! I've made so many wonderful friends over the years and it's such an important part of my life, hehe :ehehe:

    Aaaa, hype hype!! :ezgif-2-df452814b3f1:  :abilove:

Even though Sukinime is the known Brazilian group for BL translations, I might just one day help them with some project...

*more specifically, I've also helped with editing a lot of graphics and stuff (e.g.: that Toradora game for PSP, for which the English TL team didn't bother to translate the minigame's titles lmao; Amnesia: Memories; Gin'iro Haruka). Oh, and I partially fan dubbed Hiyoko for Danganronpa 2 but I ended up giving up due to anxiety and uni).

    Summary

    Kantou, Pandemonium—
Formerly known as Kajou City, a central metropolis of the Kantou region, it was transformed overnight into a demonic city where the supernatural runs rampant after it was linked to the swirling power of chaos from the Abyss several years ago.
When immortal, unidentified beings called “Witches” began to appear, the government responded by quarantining the metropolitan area, and ceding the land from their sovereign borders.
Though old Kajou City became a ghost town for a time, criminals, illegal immigrants, and defaulting debtors who couldn’t make a living in this corrupt world sought refuge in the city, followed by an influx of prostitutes, black market dealers, and yakuza seeking to take advantage of them.
After growing to a population of 150,000 over several years, the curtain rises on this tale when a certain man encounters a lone “Witch” here in this unrecognized free city known as Pandemonium.
The wheel of destiny begins to turn for one man and the “Witches”, here in this dangerous, evil city beyond the reach of law.

If there is anything wrong, let me know!

  5. Well, I have finally finished Maggot Baits!  :kanpai: Phew~!

I can't believe it took me almost two years to finish one novel... if it wasn't so graphic, I could have finished it sooner, but I always had to make sure my parents wouldn't see me playing it haha
I'll just start by complaining about the one thing I disliked: up until chapter 4 or even 5, there is barely any balance between the plot scenes and the h-scenes; I can count on my fingers the ones minimally relevant to the characters or the story itself; most dragged themselves for much longer than they should have, even if the reader was getting off to it. With the amount of h-scenes there is in the initial chapters, the readers certainly do not need 15 minutes worth of tentacles and torture for every 10 minutes of plot, do they? That's what it felt like for me, at least. :footsip:

Anyways, the character design is, as always, beautiful! I love Hamashima's work~ :ehehe: I especially liked their glowing eyes, they really felt bewitching during the night...!
The OST was way better than what I expected, especially during the battle scenes, but the ending song was so lovely it made me relax as I listened to it~
The writing felt a bit dense at times, but that is to be expected, due to its setting.
I liked that there weren't many choices, as I could totally focus without worrying about my previous choices, since it felt like characters could drop dead at any moment... well, some characters. The plot itself never got tiring, always adding more mysteries to the main thing - after the endless h-scenes, the plot scenes start to get longer and you get by the other h-scenes that come next quicker, so it only gets better from there! :sugoi:

    (about the endings)

    Spoiler

For the bad ending, I understand that they wanted to introduce other fucked up shit they thought of and didn't want to add it to the canon story, but geez, that really felt out of place for the characters; the neutral ending was so interesting! It truly felt like a neutral ending - more like a sad and bittersweet ending than a "bad" ending in itself but not as happy and fulfilling as a good ending... I enjoyed it a lot! The true ending felt more bitter to me, maybe because I was expecting a happier ending after what they went through and me, as a reader, after finding the new unlocked choices during my second playthrough, only to have another bittersweet ending. ClockUp sure knows how to end stories, huh? lol

This was such a fun VN to read! I've cried... I've laughed... and I sure recommend this to anyone who is able to stomach the torture. No, wait...! You don't have to, actually! If you really want to read it, they have an on/off switch and you'll only be seeing vomit when there is any, but not blood or gore! If the descriptions and/or the specific sexual content presented turn you off, however, I'm afraid you'd be better off just reading something else.
I know this game has a bit of a bad fame, mostly coming from people who haven't read it in its entirety (or anything at all), but trust me, it's a very beautiful story! :100:Overall, I'd give it a full 8/10!

oh and best girl is Serika, of course

even if you count the barely coherent Punchline

He wrote PUNCHLINE??? Seriously? Damn, that was so shitty and I don't even remember much of it lmao welp, glad to know my taste is still somewhat good /j :kyoku:

  7. Long time no see, all of you! It's been a month, more or less! :iamslain: In the meantime, I've been playing Zero Time Dilemma and while I know many don't consider it a visual novel and for good reasons, I approach it the same way dknjasknda It was... well, it was something, alright. :baobao:Yeah, I didn't enjoy it... I'll give it a 6/10 but honestly? It felt like a 4/10... Maybe I'm just done with these series and it's my brain saying "pls no moreee" but oh well; I did like one thing! The puzzles!! They are easier!!! I actually did most by myself!! :ehehe: Way to make me feel not dumb lmao

But yeah, the cast was not fun to be with at all, maybe except Team D, but the visuals didn't help aaaaa... I hate it I hate it I hate it. At some point I did get used to it but it was always something that stopped me from being too emotionally invested lol I just couldn't take the story seriously.

I'm almost done with Maggot Baits (finally!) at 90%, hooray! I might actually finish it lololol

  8. Finally finished rereading Amnesia: Memories! It took a week longer than I was expecting (I did a route per week) but I did finish it :ehehe:

Well, I'm gonna be honest: it wasn't as good as when I first read it, but oh well, that's what usually happens when you read something you feels nostalgic about. It's a 90/10; though it's so damn satisfying when it's still good even after all these years :iamslain: Well, maybe one of the causes I didn't like it as much this time was the big focus on romance when I was going to reread it expecting more mystery lol  Anyways, back in 2016 I gave this a 9/10 and now it has a 7.8/10, hah.

    Heart World - Shin

    Spoiler

Oh boy, the tsundere route... Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against tsunderes, but Shin is just so... childish? Like, rude. Yeah, that. There's a reason his was the only route I barely remembered, oof-

The sudden kisses were a big turn off for me, honestly. Maybe it's exciting for straight women and such, but oh gods, it was really uncomfortable, ESPECIALLY by the fact that he was basically a stranger to us :baobao: Oh, and another thing that bothered me that seems to be almost a trope in romances: the "we were childhood friends but now that I've got a crush on you we can't keep being friends - we either date or we go our separate ways" thing; like, wtf? As someone who is aromantic, this might sound strange, but couldn't you just tell your feelings to your crush and if they reject you, couldn't you cope in healthier ways??? You look so insecure, bro.

It's a good thing I read this one first, as it really was the least memorable one; the only good scene imo was the last bit with Toma and Shin, as it shows the big reveal AND it foreshadows (along with one of Shin's bad endings) Toma's yan yan side, let's say. Ngl I would love to see a scene of them as a throuple, it looks hella cute~

    Spade World - Ikki

    Spoiler

I don't have a lot to comment on this one, but I'd like to hear more about his "condition" - which, actually, wouldn't he be one of the human Nhil tried to help?? :sugoi:

I feel like Ikki is much better as a secondary character, kind of like the mischievous friend asjhdbasjhbd Oh yeah, the bad endings were darker than I what I expected :peek:

    Diamond World - Toma

    Spoiler

People usually like to roast this route a lot, and I GET IT, I really do! Ho-we-ver! Toma is, in my honest opinion, a really good yandere and he's done in a more realistic way, instead of the usually over-the-top way most yanderes act. I do like yanderes in general so I might be a bit biased, but I don't like them just because they fit the archetype - they have to be a well-written character. I like Toma because he's not perfect, as much as the game tries to make it so in the beginning: he has basic flaws and that nice side of him IS also him! Just like a lot of abusive, manipulative and possessive people, he doesn't believe what he is doing is truly wrong, as fucked up as it is. Sure, he is self-aware to a degree, but he believes everything he is doing is for the "best". He does have a bunch of insecurities, which they actually show, instead of making him go fully yan out of nowhere like a lot of them do.

If there's one thing I didn't like (besides the whole route feeling soooo dragged) is the endings - the normal ending felt more of a good ending than the good end itself. The heroine accepting everything and being this submissive felt really weird and forced the whole "I can fix him" narrative, which is a big ew for me LOL

    Clover World - Kent

    Spoiler

The best route imo! It's another tsundere, but this time it's a good balance between tsun and dere! Kent feels more mature and, at the same time, more awkward when it comes to socializing and romance haha kind of like me, except I am sometimes even denser than him, mostly because I don't feel romantic attraction and totally forget most people do kasndkasjnd as an autistic person, I also understand Kent not understanding some social cues and taking some things literally, so it was fun being like "*nod* *nod* I get you, I get you" while Orion freaks out-

Kent is adorable, he's like a cute hamster. I feel like he's the only character I'd be willing to romance if I was playing this blindly haha though I feel like if I met him irl and we became friends, I would text him as little as he does... Poor Kent!

The only thing that bothered me a bit was Kent's jealousy... It was too much.

    True Ending!

    Spoiler

    Joker World - Ukyo

    Spoiler

Here we are, it's the big finale! When I first played it, this was the big "WOAHH!?!?!?" route but now that I know the big mystery, it was a pretty soft route?? Aside from that, I did like how they answered the "why is August so cold" question, as weird as the answer was. Oh, and that bad ending with Toma? Creepy.

And that was it!! It wasn't as amazing as when I first read it, but hey, at least I have refreshed my memory and my score on it. I'm 55% done with Maggot Baits, and I'm trying hard to finish it! It's super interesting so far, and it's curious how the heavier stuff seemed to all appear in the first 30% (?) but then, it softens? Not that I'm complaining, I am digging the plot!

  9. 15 hours ago, adamstan said:

BTW - do you happen to know what's the difference between the regular "Root Letter" and "Root Letter: Last Answer" editions?

ah, yeah. It's doesn't appear to change too much, according to the VNDB note abt it:

Remake of the original game with live-action graphics and adjusments to make it easier to play. The game will feature two modes, “Drama Mode” and “Original Mode.” In Drama Mode, the game’s live-action actors will perform as the characters in the game, both visually and vocally. The game’s setting of Shimane is also depicted in live-action. In Original Mode, the game uses Taro Minobosi’s original artwort and original voice cast. You can switch between these two modes from the title screen.
A resolution chapter that reveals the truth of the ending that was previously untold has also been added.

A friend of mine played this version and chose the live action art and while it isn't bad, there are some scene that just look weird and somewhat comical in supposedly tense moments lol

  10. Just finished Root Letter and I enjoyed it a lot!! It was very nostalgic as I first played the first 5 chapters back in 2017~18 on my PS4 :choco: I was loving it and I've been wanting to get back to it since then. I'm listening to its soundtrack while I write this, so that does tell you how much I liked it haha

    Well, let's see!

    • As I mentioned before, the OST is great! It's not something out of this world, but its sooo good to set a relaxed or tense environment :illyasmug: I get immersed in the story in seconds with the music playing in the background.
    • Just like the soundtracks, the art is very soft, giving it relaxing vibes. The whole setting is like this ngl; so if you are expecting a thrilling and scary mystery story, well, it's not exactly that, but it's not always fun times either. Oh yeah, the backgrounds are 10/10.
    • The characters were pretty good too - nothing super "wow" but they did a fine job for their roles, enough to keep me playing. No one was super annoying or frustrating to talk to, so that's a win in my book.
    • The gameplay mechanics were okay, I think. They aren't exactly original but their use gave the whole game a different feel to it, which I enjoyed. I feel like without them, the game would be pretty linear and boring, maybe? The only thing that was kinda annoying after some hours of play time was the "Max Mode" (oh, and sometimes the whole "investigation" minigame) - like, sure, I get why he does it but what's really the point to turn it into a minigame? Like, it doesn't add much and it's not even logical, you can't guess what's the thing he is supposed to say LOL
    • The plot itself was "just" OK. It was a pure 7/10, but my enjoyment of it was a 8(,5?)/10 :footsip: like, the first ending was my favorite, just because of how WTF it is and the whole "scary" feeling it gives. The true ending was SO disappointing istg :ganbarimess:

    Plot holes?

    Spoiler
    • In bad end #3, how the hell are they supposed to explain it in the other routes? Like, the other routes seem to be somewhat consistent with everything we know about the events but this ending is just "surprise bitch, everyone is working with the government and your penpal is a secret agent too"; like, I can't see Sanpei or the other guy from the restaurant working with the government and just being all fake in the other routes lol
    • In the True Ending, if it wasn't that big of a deal to Shiori, why couldn't she just TALK with them??? Like, is she that petty that she wanted all of this just so they could make up?? LOL okay That's fucked, Shiori
oh, and the wedding ending was shit - out of nowhere and felt pretty shoehorned idk :baobao:

This week's reading will be a rereading, actually! Amnesia: Memories! I really liked my first reading of it (9/10) hehe I can't wait to see if it still holds up. I'm also excited for this one because I'm reading it for my VN club and it's the first otoge I'm reading for it, and, well, the majority of the ppl there are either guys or ppl who don't usually play anything outside of bishoujo games or both so I'm glad we're stepping outside of the confort zone, heh :beatosmug:

  11. This week I finished The House in Fata Morgana and Fault: Milestone One:ezgif-2-df452814b3f1:

Fata Morgana (mostly just my conclusion)

    Spoiler

oH GOD, I was ugly crying the whole time at the end there; I loved everything about this work!! Ok, maybe not everything - chapter two and three as stories alone were pretty hum... well, not as impacting as the first; but honestly, it was damn worth it! This might have a place on my top vns ngl

     Fault:

    Spoiler

Hmmm, it was pretty mid for me... a pure 5/10. I feel like if it was a bit longer and the mystery was better developed, it might have been better; either that or I would be bored out of my mind lol it's a 50/50 :footsip: The ending with Selphine getting sadistic was curious, I might play the sequel soon, who knows.
P.S.: The art for the translations (for each language, I mean) was lovely!

This week I'll be reading Root Letter and I'm so excited!! I remember reading the first half of the game on the PS4, three years ago (I think?). I'm now reading it on my computer and the hype and nostalgia is absolutely real :iamslain:

  12. [The House in Fata Morgana]

aaa I've finished chapter 7 and I'm a wreck; I haven't posted any updates on the chapters but I will now!!
My comments will reflect my thoughts as I was reading them, not knowing of what happens in further chapters :nyanpasu:

    Chapter 3

    Spoiler

I don't have the fire I had when I finished this chapter, but Maria can step on me anytime  Anyways, I found this chapter rly entertaining, even if it is one of the poorest ones haha I found the White-haired Girl's clothing so pretty too, aa~ Jacoppo can suck my nonexistent dick-- I felt like the game was trying too hard at the end there for me to empathize with him or find any compassion for his situation but too bad!, he had so many chances to actually talk with his wife but nooooo, what did he do? fucking nothing, what a loser :kyoku:

    Chapter 4

    Spoiler

I don't have that much to say abt this one, since my thoughts have been overwritten by the plot twists and explanations of further chapters, but I do remember liking Giselle's character, she was so much fun! Oh, a Michel sure did grow on me haha I do like a tsundere *crys in chapter 7 foreshadowing*

    Chapter 5

    Spoiler

oh boy,, that rape scene and her breakdown in the forest was painful to read... I almost cried, these things are so infuriating to witness

update: ok, Giselle’s breakdown at Michel after the village bit made me cry, fuck

really, the way the author approaches rape, sexual assault and trauma is amazing, holy shit- I’ve never went through something like that (”only” sexual harassment and that alone was terrifying enough) but as someone with trauma I could really sympathize (and may I say empathize) with Giselle...

    Chapter 7 (yes, I skipped chapter 6)

    Spoiler

This chapter DESTROYED me :kasumicry: As a nonbinary being who is perceived as female, I can honestly relate to Michel... I may not be intersex or in the exact same kind of situation as him, but the feeling of not being in your right body remains. Aimee can suck it, ffs. And so can Didier, jfc; I want to think Georges was only forced to paint that and did not, in fact, think of Michel was female, but it crushed me seeing the two brothers he still trusted to be the ones who brought him agony and death... I would curse them tbh :ganbarimess:

And now on to the final door!! :ezgif-2-df452814b3f1: LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  13. (just a little update on chapter 2 of Fata Morgana)

    Spoiler

Okay, the Bestia just saw the girl naked and mentioned her smile, so theory time: is... is he the merchant guy? Idk, he was murdered, but at the same time, I’m very confused about everything LOL

... Holy moly I was right, AGAIN. :pyacchan:

Ok, Yukimasa is going to buy some oranges at the village... it would be a shame if the guy who brought Pauline was to recognize him, HMMM?

Oh wow, it didn’t even get to that huh. Man, this whole story was tragic but Yukimasa is such a jerk, he didn’t deserve any of the girls :disgust:

Tbh, I do prefer the first chapter to this one, but this one was pretty dope as well; they are all so tragic, I love it :iamslain:
