A translator will just have to translate however he/she wants. A translator will never be able to satisfy everyone. Half wants a translation that's directly translated from its source language and the other half wants it tailored towards not only their language but their culture as well (which to me is incomprehensible, but that's my opinion).

To make it worse, Sony and Nintendo can't allow explicit vn's on their systems. Also characters has verified age (almost all of them ~15 year old), so it is impossible even on PC, except things like Golden Time.

Almost all consoles animege like ToLove-Ru, KonoSuba, Nisekoi, OreImo, Haganai and etc. With original VA from anime H-scenes would be really cool addition.

I was one of the many who jumped on your beta patch of To Heart 2 who then also read through your full patch when it was released as well. I can say that the Beta patch did not stop myself from wanting to read your full release, nor did it make me judge To Heart 2 poorly because what I had originally read. I do think there is an essence of time involved as well. If I remember correctly, there was quite some time between the beta patch and full patch of To Heart 2. In situations like this where there is going to be a long lapse between said beta patch and the full release, I don't think there is much to lose by releasing the unfinished patch.
Now if the full patch would be ready in 6-ish months or so, it is definitely not worth it. But when talking years in some cases, a beta patch can help tide people over. And frankly, it would be like experiencing the VN anew once the full patch comes out because of the time between. Situational for sure, but as Astro has implied, this could be quite the long haul if no help is brought in before we do, eventually, get a full patch of Clover Days, this might be worth exploring. I feel that this holds true for all fan-TLs, not just this specific case. The downside of course is peoples' impressions of your quality of work, but if a patch is labeled beta and it's said that the patch is an unedited, non TLC version and people still complain about the quality, their opinions probably aren't worth much in the first place.

I actually thought the same. I thought it was something on those lines like "her sharp gaze cut right through me" or "her piercing eyes cut right through me". At the end, I went to check the original JP line which was this:
First, I tried to check each kanji compound to see what it could mean. 直球 - "Straight", "Frank" (second meaning listed on Tanoshii Japanese), 表現 - "Expression", "Presentation" (first meaning listed on Tanoshii Japanese), グサリきた - don't know what this means, I couldn't find anything useful while googling, に and の are Japanese particles. Through my attempt at deciphering this, I understood how they came up with "open expression". 直球の表現 - の is the particle for possessiveness so I first interpreted it as "Expression of frankness". And I understood how they came up with "open" in the translation. It's a synonym for frank:

So my guess is that the editor changed that to "open expression". Or in case Moenovel didn't even use one, then it's the original TLer who used that wording "open expression". The problem is, you'll never find anywhere anybody using "open expression" to mean what they tried to say there. And besides, that's not even the main problem here. The whole TL of it is wrong in the first place. I sent this specific line to a very good N1 JP -> ENG TLer to double check that line and it turns out the whole "expression" there isn't about the face she made (as you would assume initially from the way it was worded in the translation). The "expression" that's talked about here is about the way Hikari was speaking to the MC in couple of lines before. For the whole context, here are couple of lines before:
And then comes that infamous line of "open expression" Moenovel put. While in truth, it should have said something on the lines of:
The MC is actually slightly shocked how she was speaking to him. There was no any "sharp gazes" and other bullshit. It even fits with the narrative in the following line where he says:
I think it can be worded a little bit better, but that's the gist of that particular scene. You can't trust Moenovel to even do a correct translation of all lines, much less to hope for it to read good.
Mind you, I am not doing this for every line in the script. I just randomly pick suspicious ones, like that example I showed here. There are also other suspicious lines in these scripts like this one, but I don't have the energy nor will to try and hunt them all down. Only the obvious ones I notice or where it doesn't fit with what's going on.

They're not from Nippon so they're all garbage and should be burned in a fire....
Jokes aside, they just don't interest me personally. They seem too much like weebs trying to write like Japanese writers to me and it comes across as really weird.

Moe genre sells better than another pseudo-serious vn's. There are plenty of people like me who prefer "standard moege VN's with a cliche story" even after hundreds of them (btw, for me "Hello, good-bye" less appealing than others). So, calling it a "bad decision" because "you" don't like that genre, sounds like a desperate cry. It is like complaining that they do not choose otomes, traps, bl, yuri and etc.
I won't say moege ultimately better that nakige , but many people preferring one for other. Like Aksys games has there niche with Otome games, now we have moege company.
Not to mention people who reading vn's like date sims for escapism and can't handle psychological stuff with depressing ending after depressing ending. (I think there plenty of them, looking on moege sales)

So, NekoNyan, you have my acknowledgment of your decision and I'll buy 4/5 of your games (Should find a info about Hello, good-bye endings...)

Exactly the answer I expected. No, I'm absolutely not entitled, he made himself responsible before the community as a whole and not me personally, even your "free" actions have their price and your good intentions can bring harm when your moral compass doesn't really work. Noone else will try to translate it when you do, many people become depressed from time to time because of the lack of closure etc etc. Negative connotations are obvious and when you can alleviate them by literally spending ten minutes of your precious time then you're obviously in the wrong. The fact that he's such a nice guy who maybe decided to work on the game for free only means that noone can demand any kind of result from him, not that he's free from any moral obligation of going public.

Of course he has to tell when he's dropping a finished translation or he shouldn't have made it public to begin with. The only time when you have no responsibilities in a society is when you have no influence over other people and community. Though if you want to argue an exact word then maybe "owing" is not really the right one, it's more a question of a basic human decency. Do you "owe" anyone to not be an ashhole? No, not really. Is it still important to not be one in a society? Absolutely.

I don't have hacking skills and my japanese is quite basic, but..
I could help decensor the H-scenes (as in remove the mosaic censoring.)
I'm a freelance artist and I did the original Majikoi decensoring images.

I don't know what the community thinks about decensoring today as compared to a few years back when I worked on the Majikoi project, but

A Sky Full of Stars - +18 Restoration
[Open Project/Startup]

Yo, First of all, keep in mind my intention here isn't publish a +18 Patch... First of all, I can't...
Since i'm not good in english and don't know japanese I will not touch in any text of this game.
So... what is this post? I'm trying give a hand to anyone who wants create a proper unc patch
to this novel... To "help" I'm sharing a patch to you who wants translate the h-scene or wants
create a patch to restore the unc content... This my "patch" don't import the english translation
to japanese script, all scripts in this patch is fully japanese and have nothing changed, what this
patch contains is my StringReloads with a fully database of the jap script content. This database
is just a .txt with .lst extension, with all text using the same pattern:

This can be used my StringReloads tool generating a Database and replacing the original dialogue
when the game read the script dialogue. For now I don't know about the stability of this patch and
I'm sure, since i have not tested yet, exist bugs who we need found... And in the last case if you have
a problem with my SRL (StringReloads) mod, any random newbie devloper can modify a tool to read my
.lst and import to the japanese script, So if you don't know nothing about the devloper scene but wants help
you can just play this "patch" and search for problems, You can install the DEV version and fix manually,
after this just upload and comment here and will be linked in this post.

We have 3 Versions included in this "patch":

The JAP version:
This will include my semi-automatic generated database with the moenovel
translation only, All jap exclusives dialogues (like h-scene and ecchi momments)
continue in japanese without changes, this option don't is to who wants work
in the h-scene restoration project, since i'm publishing a "patch", I'm sure some
guys will download just to "play", this option is to you, good lucky your masochist.
The ENG version:
The double-masochist version, Include my semi-automatic generated database with the
moenovel translation and in all jap exclusive dialogues (like h-scene and ecchi momments)
is included in english by a fully unrevised machine translation, good lucky your masochist²
The DEV version:
Hoho, This is what we need, Install it!, this version is to you who wants
search for problems in the patch or maybe fix the moenovel translation or revise
the google translation in the h-scene. the world counts on your help.

I'm linking too my tool who I created to generate all .lst files,
If you want fix a voice sync problem it's beter recreate the .lst,
to this you can use the tools inside this stuff, and is included too
screenshots about changes and missing content in the moenovel tl.
All Strings-???!.lst (have a !) is to keep atention, this .lst is missing
dialogues or isn't fully dumped, the TLDump can be used to compare
all scripts and generate a .lst the LstClearner is a command line tool
who can remove duplicate entries in a .lst and generate all
"Strings-MissXX.lst" files including all dialogues from the japanese
script who don't have translated in any .lst before.


How to install:
Download the patch in this post Extract it using winrar 5.0 or newer to the game directory [C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\A Sky Full of Stars] Execute the "Apply Patch.bat" and type what you want Run the game In the "Language Pack" change to "+18 Version" and press OK
Download the lastest update in this post Extract to the game directory Run the "Apply Patch.bat" again and finish the instalation. Play the game.
Possible Problems:
>Some parts the can dialog shows out of the time/voice >Missing Files Log Alert... >No show the HCG in the Extra Menu... >Untranslated Character Name... >Untranslated Images... Knowed Problems:
