  1. Yeah, but didn't her body become like that after the events of the destroyed school with Nemu in control? In the true route, she was captured by Nemu and put in that concrete wall, so I guess after that the researchers at the lab retrieved her but her hands/legs must have been atrophied or something, and they had to give her prosthetics. But before that, she had a normal body I think. And also I'm only wondering whether the place they went to in the ending of Byakuya's route is VR or Paradise or reality (Keisuke's room). The underground white room game was real AFAIK.

Finished Euphoria today, it was a pretty solid VN because of the story, but I wasn't a huge fan of the h-scenes (most of them were kind of boring, dunno, maybe it's because I'm more of a masochist and not a sadist :D) The one thing I'm still confused about is the "good" ending of Rinne's route. Are they in the real world in that ending, some VR-simulation, or the Paradise (one produced by Nemu? Or the other Sleeping Beauty?) As far as I understand, the ends of all the other routes do take place in the real world, since Kanae isn't in any of them and the events in the demolished school whom Nemu reigned over are real as well. So Byakuya's route ending is also in the real world? It seems weird to me though, as they went through that door, just like the one Keisuke went through when he decided to leave Nemu's Paradise in the true end. Maybe it's Kanae projecting him into another random VR-world? Not sure what her motive for that would be, if she just let them leave peacefully there after that. So then they found the Paradise? But it's strange that it wouldn't be guarded by that company and they could just walk into it like that.
  3. ITHVNR isn't a translator, just a text hooker. You need to download something like Translation Aggregator, and use that in conjunction with ITHVNR. As for how to use it, first open ITHVNR and Translation Aggregator (TA). In TA, you should probably click X on most of the windows, I personally only leave the Mecab and Original Text one. Now go to Option in ITHVNR and make sure "Auto copy to clipboard" is checked, then click OK. Next, open the VN you want to read and fumble through the menus until you get to the story. Now, in ITHVNR, click Process, and look for the VN process (usually the name of the engine the VN uses). Select it, and click Attach, give it a few seconds and it should work (otherwise it will give you an error). Click OK. In the ITHVNR window, there should be a dropdown that says something like 0000:0000:0xFFFFFFFF:0xFFFFFFFF:0xFFFFFFFF:ConsoleOutput, click on that and you should have several other options with weird text to select from. Try them all, and compare the text you get in the ITHVNR window vs. the text in the VN window until you find the option that makes the text the same. If that was too confusing, here's an image: When you get the text to match, just minimize ITHVNR and the text should start showing up in Translator Aggregator (you might have to advance the dialogue a few lines in the VN before it does). You should be able to start reading now
  4. Yeah, Sakura no Mori and Shinigami no Testament... look cool, but I probably wouldn't understand anything if I read them in Japanese, since they both have stuff about superpowers :/ I hope these are translated sometime, with how slowly I read it will take years for me to get to them anyway xD
  5. None out of the ones I've read so far (which is not many, and I'm looking forward to reading a lot of VNs that seem like they could certainly be masterpieces). Hoshizora no Memoria is probably the closest one, but it's definitely not perfect and had several problems that I had to ignore to enjoy it.
  6. I somewhat agree with this. When I first found out about VNs, it was in fact the choice system that attracted me to them. However, right now, choices are the last thing I'd list as defining what a VN is. Most of the time, they are either trivial (I.E. changes only a few dialogue lines), or you will want to play through them all anyway to get the full story. The only choices that are still entertaining to make are in VNs with lots of bad ends, where you can try to figure out what the right decision is for the first playthrough. But in the end, you will likely want to read through the bad endings too, so it's not too important whether you choose correctly or not. However, while what I was expecting to be good about VNs (choice system) ended up disappointing me, the medium as a whole ended up offering me a lot more than I expected. I'm sure even if you don't like the multiple endings aspect of VNs you'll find something else that you enjoy, so don't be turned off. But yeah, I think about them like Soulless Watcher - every ending is a parallel world where you made a different choice, and they all exist at the same time. You can usually just consider whichever one you like to be the "true" ending, even if the plot indicates another ending as such. For me personally, this doesn't take away from the emotional investment in a setting, as long as I take a day or two break between finishing a route and starting another.

  8. I use it during H-scenes sometimes so that I can quickly go back to when they were in a different position, for example. Often they will be in a good position first and then switch to one that totally doesn't excite me, so I'll just quickload and keep on fappin'. Also, in VNs that don't have a lot of save slots I'll use QSave a lot and only do a normal save between different reading sessions.

  11. I can't deny that me asking that was in part because of HoshiMemo. Actually... confession: I've thought about joining an astronomy club while reading that VN. Thankfully, I currently don't go anywhere that has such a club, which saved me from making this mistake.

  13. Reading Euphoria currently. Thought the plot was a bit boring at first, but now a major development has taken place and I'm really curious as to what'll happen next. Already getting tired of the music; they really need more tracks (though, the few that the game does have are all pretty good).

  16. Hiragana is pretty easy, it's used literally everywhere so once you start writing you'll be forced to memorize it and it will stick in your memory. Katakana, on the other hand.... I have like 1500 kanji memorized but to this day I still forget my katakana and mix up letters And even then, some of the katakana words are so warped compared to the English equivalents, like, ビル (biru) can be either building or bill, and if you put a long vowel in there, ビール, suddenly it's beer. Fkn chinks man. Good luck with your class though

  18. I don't know yet as I haven't played that game, but it is one of the VNs I'm looking forward to the most. I like half the cast judging by VNDB traits, and it's pretty rare for me to like that many characters in a VN. Dunno though, can't say if I'll like it for sure until I play it. Oh and if you think my taste isn't shit, I rated HoshiMemo 10/10.

  21. IMO if any changes are done to a game to make it less objectionable by whatever audience it's being adapted for, it's censorship. However, not all changes done to an adaption are for the purpose of making it less objectionable; some are done just to fit the audience better - and that may or may not include censoring. It's hard to determine without directly asking the persons involved in the making of an adaption whether a change was made for censorship reasons or to fit the audience better. For example, some fighter girl's armor might have looked pretty revealing in the original game but was replaced with armor that covers the body better in an adaption for the Western market. This could be due to censorship, or it could be simply because the people making the adaption thought Westerners would prefer the characters to have more practical armor that actually looks like it protects them, instead of leaving them exposed. I'd say it depends, sometimes the changes can obvious enough to determine that they were made due to censorship reasons. If an adaptation removes or totally changes many morally-questionable scenes it can be reasonably ascertained that this was done for censorship reasons. But if they do a few tweaks here and there like changing some characters' armor to be less revealing to better fit the audience, I'm not gonna hang them for it. Personally, though, I generally prefer adaptations to be as close to the original as possible. Thus, whether it's censorship or changing the game to fit the market better, I would likely still favor a more faithful adaptation.
