  1. I'd say go with Impey next, to recover from all the the angst of Van Hellsing's route. Victor's route gives you quite a bit of info regarding Cardia herself and what connects everyone, so I'd say it's best to leave it for just before the true route (Lupin). Victor is pretty important in general, without him no one can bone Cardia.
  2. Hello, fellow long time lurker! (I guess fellow old-timer too. lol) I feel you on the whole not wanting to post if you don't think you have something unique to contribute thing. I'm pretty much the same way. (Don't wanna come off as a scrub after all) As for recommendations I second the Remember11 suggestion, but to give you more variety I'll add Kikokugai and Hatoful Boyfriend as well. Kikokugai for some quality Urobutcher and Hatoful for the LOLS. Hatoful is also a surprisingly well thought out narrative despite the subject matter, you just need to get to that true end to really see it.
  3. Welcome to fuwa! Best of luck in your writing/editing endeavors. I'd love to see what projects you get attached to in the future, you might be the savior of the OELVN scene for all I know.
  4. I just bought it a few seconds ago. Regardless of having played the PSP version, I look forward to playing this version (The original soundtrack is far superior to the remixes used in the PSP version) . If anyone is interested I'll gladly jot down more specific version differences. That is a mission I am more than willing to bare. It might take me a little while though, since I only play when it's pitch black, I'm just crazy like that.
  5. Dovac's favorite game is Final Fantasy 8????? Now I might have difficulties holding anything against him, as arbitrary as that sounds. Putting that aside, SP really needs to focus on releasing what they already have announced. It seems like they're spreading their already small staff paper thin with all of these active projects, making progress slow down to a snails pace. Give me results Sekai, not empty promises.
  6. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! My hype for this can't be stopped! Sorry other priorities you're going to have to disappear for a little while when this drops. I want to see how the original indie voice actors compare to the all-star PSP cast. (I'm really going to miss the stereophonic sound, though.) Apparently the final chapter of the original is completely different than the PSP version and actually came out after that version; since the original was released episodically. (I say original, but the OG was a short RPG maker game made in 1996) Ahhhhhh I just love this universe so much! Ain't no party quite like a Corpse Party!
  7. I have the same issue too, if it's loose or even in a generic case the chances of me forking out the cash for it plummets. I even shake cases to make sure the manual is inside, must look like quite the weirdo to the employees. Having pieced together a few sets separately before, I can definitely say it was ten times more frustrating than going for a complete set. (I'm not paying ten bucks shipping on a manual I'm paying a dollar for, Dammit!) Luckily, in the area where I live quite a few people save the cases at least. For the particular games you're looking for I don't think you'll have any issues finding them complete even in local stores (especially the PS3 titles) since the majority of them are pretty common titles. Unless of course, gamers in your area have something against game cases/manuals and constantly throw them out. Now if that's the case my heart goes out to you. Relying solely on the online retailers would drive me crazy, I've heard so many horror stories where a game is listed as "like new", but when it arrives the disc is full of scratches. There was a storefront on either Amazon or Ebay that offered to print backup covers and manuals for games; I never used them myself though so I can't guarantee their quality. Another thing you know if you end up getting any loose games/ games with broken cases, is that it's fairly easy to find blank replacement cases for any system after the PS1, except for PSP. (Those cases are a bitch to find, especially if you need a specific amount.)
  8. If you're still interested playing Dramatical Murder and Togainu no Chi, you might want to check out the troubleshooting topics on the Aarinfantasy forums. There's troubleshooting topics here as well but not too many users over here actually read yaoi. If you're still having issues give me a shout, I'd be happy to help you figure out what it is. As for recommendations, I second Hatoful boyfriend (not the Vita port, though) its charm levels are off the charts and its ridiculously rewarding to get the true end. Aside from that, there's also Lamento it's from the creators of both Dramatical Murder and Togainu no Chi. Lamento is probably my favorite of the three.
  9. Good luck with the translation! The world could use more Banchou styled heroines.
  10. Nice to see another user getting into game collecting. Personally, instead of focusing on buying order in regards to price brackets I would focus on exploring local sources then moving to online for the remainder. You'd be surprised at how many deals you can find for practically new games from sellers that just don't know their prices. Plus, the shipping prices for buying multiple games from a whole bunch of different sellers can really add up after a while. Although, since you seem to be based in America shipping prices shouldn't get too crazy. I'm not jealous at all. The key to gleaning through the local market is knowing the price ranges for all the game you want on Ebay/Amazon. Look into what they're actually selling for though, not just listed prices. Some sellers are delusional about what their game is worth and end up artificially raising prices in general. Now if you just want to amass this collection as quickly as possible sticking with online stores would be your best bet, but buying locally can definitely save you money if you're patient. (I don't think I've even seen a copy of Advanced Wars in the wild) For your particular list I'd start hitting up every GameStop in the area, since most locations still have sizable PS3 sections with bargain bin prices. There may have a few of your DS and Wii titles as well, but in general their stock for both systems seems to have dwindled down to mostly shovelware titles. Just so you know, mainstream Nintendo (Mario, Zelda, Kirby, and Pokemon) don't depreciate that much in the used market and getting them new would be even worse, you really have to luck out to find them for good prices. (Nintendo fans nostalgia boners are far too strong ) After the GameStops I'd look into any used game shops/pawn shops/thrift stores/flea markets/garage sales. These places are usually the riskiest you could go there and find absolutely nothing, but when you score in these places you score BIG. The employees at these places (excluding the used game stores) don't do their homework when it comes to prices, except for mainstream Nintendo these places seem to take the amazon price for these games slap on a few dollars and call it a day. Anime/comic/gaming cons are also decent places to look, if you have any in the area, some prices are inflated but they tend to get marked down on the last day to move their stock. The last resource would be Craigslist or the Craigslist equivalent in your area if you can stand meeting with strangers to buy their shit. This method seems the most sketchy for sure but it usually turns out pretty well if you ask the seller enough questions and the sellers provides you with adequate pictures of what they're selling. (As long as you don't take and giant risks, of course.) Oh! Also watch out for counterfeit DS/GBA games, there are quite a few for popular games. Definitely look at them with a critical eye or you might get duped. I remember seeing a booth at my local anime con selling fake copies of Pokemon and Fire Emblem. HAPPY HUNTING!
  11. To each their own, of course. I like the subtleness to Asian sweets; they tend to be able to get nice flavors across without having to beat you over the head with sugar. The decadence of more western sweets tends to leave me with only a stomach ache and the feeling of regret.
  12. I just bought a pack of taro popsicles. They were delicious but weirdly chunky. Chunky in a good way though, unlike the red bean flavors where the texture is kind of like a fine sand. Maybe next time I'll try for the mung bean flavor. Gotta live dangerously, you know.
  13. Hello! Don't worry there's plenty of other genres of VNs besides Harem/Romance! There's also otome (VN equivalent of reverse harems) and BL games (Yaoi) out there if that's your kind of thing. Nitro+Chiral games are actually pretty solid stories despite being yaoi and for otome; I think the most worthwhile titles would be The Second Reproduction and Code:Realize. I look forward to seeing your Photoshop/programming creations in the future.
  14. Welcome to fuwa fellow newbie! I recommend you try out Phenomeno. It's a short horror visual novel, but it's quite a high quality experience as a whole. I see it as a way for you to test the waters with new genres without having to sink a considerable amount of time into it. Now that I'm thinking about it Planetarian would work just as well. It's a Key VN as well but it has a considerably different tone from other Key games and is quite short too. I hope to see you more in the forums!
  15. @Nashetania That little punk Jotaro grew up so much. I've actually read the manga for this part a while back, and I can guarantee you that it's going to be a wild ride. The "bizarre" part of JoJo starts from this part on; believe it or not.
  16. It's so nice to meet everyone! Thank you kindly for the moe, Leaf. In return I'll leave you with a crystal.
  17. I hope you're all prepared for my majesty. ENJOY!
  18. PERFECT! I actually bought Tokyo Babel when it came out, but I have yet to play it. Gotta support propeller releases if I ever want an official release of Ayakashibito, right? I can totally make time for some quality chuuni.
  19. Good to hear that Gahkthun's translation is quality material; that's definitely a point in its favor. I normally have pretty low standards for translation as well (We're lucky to get a translation at all with most VNs) , but the steam punk series is kinda an exception for me since I've heard the originals have such great writing. Don't be down on yourself for using a guide, sometimes the frustration just isn't worth it and can sour your experience in an otherwise great VN. I remember there was a VN where I was presented with 2 choices and both choices led to a bad end; it totally baffled me I was sure I made the correct choices leading up to this but no matter what I did it led to that bad end. After hours of frustration I caved and looked at a guide, the solution was to simply not choose anything now this would be fine is this concept was introduced earlier, but that particular choice was the only one. (BULLSHIT)
  20. Aaaaaah part 4 has had a promising start so far. The new ending is like my favorite thing, its not what I expected but it turns out its exactly what I wanted. Now I NEED someone to do Duwang subs for this.
  21. I wonder if Sonico will become the next big gateway visual novel? The fanbase is definitely there; I can't go to a con without being bombarded with Sonico merchandise, especially in the figure section. (Like damn, calm down do we really need like 50 variations of the same figure in slightly different costumes) A dub would definitely draw in some new blood that wouldn't be drawn in otherwise. Hardcore dub fans seem to have an aversion to the Japanese language as a whole, well at least many I've encountered. I've had some blown up in my face because I said I like subs and they took it as a personal attack against themselves. I know some sub watchers can be elitist pricks to dub watchers, but they can't assume all sub watchers will treat them that way. I personally would never play a dubbed version, but I won't protest the inclusion of one as long as the Japanese audio was still available.
  22. Thank you everyone for you warm welcomes! I look forward to talking to you all more in the forums! All of the recommendations so far have been jotted down, now I'll sit here and ponder which one I should play first. I'm must admit though when I wrote "give me your worst", I expected someone would give whatever is the boku no pico equivalent of the visual novel community. Awwwww you're all just too sweet! YOOOOOO! Nashetania, I think I love you already! Hows that part 4 treating you?
  23. Recommendations are always welcome, there's always the possibility that I neglected something that is actually pretty great. I kinda have a love hate relationship with Sharnoth, it was definitely interesting but I couldn't really invest myself into any of the characters. Plus knowing that the translation style that Ixrec uses kinda ruins the poetic structure of the originals is kinda a downer. I really wish that iambic pentameter conversion project of either Sharnoth/Inganock (I can't remember which one it was.) successfully finished, comparing the two would be very interesting. I'm not sure if Gahkthun has the same structure or not, though. Did Mangagamer's translation take on a more poetic style? Also do Inganock and Gahkthun have minigames that block progression as well? I loved the one in Sharnoth despite how anger inducing it can be. It kinda bothered me that bonus cgs were locked behind your performance in the minigame, it's hard enough to clear them normally. I definitely recommend those 3. Ayakashibito is a super solid chuuni title. Ever17 has the most amazing twist when you reach the true route, but previous routes are a little bloated with slice-of-life. (All of those damn chicken sandwiches!) As for Remember11, Its probably one of the most solid experiences as a whole, but its ending is far from great.
  24. Thanks for the welcome DarkZedge! I actually started both Kara no Shoujo and Comyu, but I randomly stopped reading both. Thinking back I probably didn't have the motivation at the time to commit to finishing a longer novel. I've heard great things about both of them, so I should really dive back into at least one of them. I've been batting eyelashes with Euphoria since a few months before it was announced to be localized. Maybe it's finally time I break down and buy it instead of being such a tease. Knowledge of the Japanese language would definitely be a plus, but at the same time I'm unsure if I'll be able to reach the proficiency to read the more complicated VNs that I'm bound to be attracted to. Of course, you don't know till you try, so I may be capable if I just put the effort in. Until then I can be patient and wait for translations, which has become much more bearable in the past few years, not including JAST though their stuff still takes forever.
