    It’s here.
    I’ve always felt that the WordPress site felt a little lacking, so now Euphemic Translation has moved to a new domain with a brand-spanking new, shiny design. I spent many hours getting everything nicely together without anything suddenly exploding, and I’d say I’ve done a good enough job with it. More or less everything’s been imported and greatly updated, including the theme. Tell me what you think of it.
    As you probably could already guess, the old site is going to be abandoned, to put it bluntly. If this site goes under, I’ll of course revert back to the old site, but I don’t see that happening.
    Anyways, onwards to the actual update.
    We almost got 50% on editing with 48 percent, and whole 10% more on QC. Things are going smoothly, and they don’t seem to be slowing down, but nothing special has happened this week aside from the new website.

    Second bi-weekly update, and oh boy things happened since the last one. There's a lot to talk about, so buckle up your seatbelts.
    MAJO KOI NIKKI
    Progress is steady, we made a new table to display it in our website, so goodbye the shitty one I did at the beggining, now it will show exact numbers and specific routes. You can check it out here:  https://lunatranslationstestsite.wordpress.com/projects-2/projects/progress/ . One of our translators is having some issues right now but he'll be back next week, so yeah, no problem about that.
    Apart from that, here are the numbers:
    13700 / 40208 (34.1%) Translated

    4160 / 40208 (10.3%) TLC'ed 
    5640 / 40208 (14.0%) Proofread
    4298 / 40208 (10.7%) QC'ed (just the prologue; we probably won't be spinning up QC again for a while)

    Witch's Garden
    We decided to focus entirely on the common route as of now instead of dividing our forces in the existing routes. The common route has advanced a lot and it's now over the 50% mark and we will hopefully finish it soon, but yeah, until that happens that has been the only notable advancement in the project. All the other numbers have stayed relatively equal comparing the to last week's because we decided not to put much editing work yet. Sorry about it, but this is how it goes.

    This has been one of our newest projects, the team has been gathered and everyone is very active as of now. You can check out more detailed info about the entire team that is working on it in our website, but I'll still make a list of them here. Progress is going very quickly but steadily at the same time, members are motivated and things are going well regarding this front. Now I'll list the completion of scripts as of now (we're still building a way to get the progress in a % instead of script completion) and the members list:

    Mitch (Leader/Translator) Status:Mitch's PC died like a week ago or so, so while he's out of the game, @Dergonu will cover his leadership. Mitch personally asked for him to do the task.     Now, for the completion of the scripts as of now:
    Translation - 45/146 scripts finished.

     I'll complete the table in our website whenever I'm able to, because I don't really have that much time to do it right now. Expect bi-weekly news of this project as well from now on.
    Tsui Yuri
    For some of you this may come out as a surprise, for others not. That's right, Dergonu's team decided to join us yesterday after several talks we had over these past few weeks. If you want to know more about this just check Derg's post here, but for those who are lazy I'll just quote him here:
    "So first of all, me and my team will be joining Luna Translations. Progress wise, this shouldn't mean much, (in fact it might pick up a bit, as we got some help from them to fill a few missing staff positions.)
    For those wondering why, I just really like the way they do things over there, and after having spoken with their leader for quite some time, I decided to join forces with their group. So yeah, not much will change really, but we are now officially a part of Luna Translations! (Hey, this means we'll finally have a progress page outside of Fuwa!)"
    I'll briefly disect this statements. First of all, we filled the positions of QC, Beta Testing and TLC as Dergonu asked for us to do. And yes, very soon we'll insert his project as one of ours in our website, just like the other three that we have right now. Personally, it's a pleasure to have him on our team and he'll be a great addition to our ranks.

    Last but not least, I want to briefly talk about Hanasaki Work Spring. Long story short, we got a very serious warning saying that if we didn't stop we could get into legal trouble. Basically, we got a Cease and Desist (C&D) so sadly all efforts regarding this project have been stopped as of now. Sorry to everyone who followed us because of Hanasaki.

    Visual Novel Translation Status (08/20/2016)
    This week title, since we had Flowers sudden release from JAST and Flowers itself will be planned as tetralogy and will be based on the season, I decided to combine the first game from Season game series (Natsuyume Nagisa and Hatsuyuki Sakura) of Niijima Yuu and Saga Planet fame (Coming x Humming!!) and Flower here (Also first Flower was in spring season for the timeline here). The reason I chose Coming for the first half part because there's a Japanese children song called 'Haru ga Kita' or for the translation 'Spring has Come'. The Coming part from 'Coming x Humming' was probably from the children song that mentioned beforehand.
    As for Flowers release it was quite sudden here, and from some posts that I'd read in the thread I think the translation was quite good enough so that at least there's no much complain compared to last time when there's many uproar in regard of the flawed translation (Personally I didn't care about the translation, but that's just me). For now I'm still not playing Flowers yet, but I knew that for anime fan they got Kaori Nazuka (Nunnally from Code Geass) and Sakura Ayane (Nao Tomori from Charlotte. Also Jun Maeda favorite seiyuu according to some news) there as the seiyuu. Okay, back to usual business here, my VNTS Review (Interesting that Decay and Tay didn't had comment here, or maybe it's still too early). Also since it's already late for this time I'll just do some roundup here without section, and since I'd state about Flowers release might as well add more JAST progress here (Katahane remake was had editing for original translation ongoing and right now they also translating new scenario (No exact number here), and Princess X was 85% translated)
    For Sekai, there's still no project that announced from AX that added to their translation progress here other than they only had progresses for 3 projects here. These 3 projects were Maitetsu (22.49% translated), Chrono Clock (30.1% translated, at least they continuing this even after Purple Software partnering with Mangagamer), and Tenshin Rahman (37.69% translated). Well, they at least gave stable update for their project with good production value there (Seiyuu and opening song was the factor I said that). That's all for Sekai, and maybe the shakeup in Sekai was more damaging than I thought here (Or maybe not much damaging).
    Tsui Yuri, the editing progress was at 68% and just a hour ago Dergonu state that they'll joined Luna Translation there. Speaking about Luna Translation here, I'd sorry to said that Hanasaki project dropped after some C&D there (And that was after some drama about Hanasaki not too long ago here). About C&D thing, what I could comment for now is that some VN Translation project received that. Oh, and of course we had another progress from here, and right now we had some Majokoi progress (Too much number here by the way, and for the progress we had 34.2% translated, 18.8% edited, 11.1% TLC, 14% proofread, and 10.7% QC). And for the least but certainly not the least, we had Bishoujo Mangekyou at 46.5% edited and 25.5% QC. I think that's all for fan translation progress, and for this week we had an established project with goal to translated Fortune Arterial there. If some of you read this and want to help, they need some TLC and you could post about help at that thread (Fortune Arterial Translation Project) if you had confidence in Japan to do some TLC.
    For Mangagamer, this week they definitely had so many progress here, but too bad there's still no progress for Hapymaher and Sona-Nyl yet. For the progress, first of all they had Kuroinu (95% translated), Suki Suki (71% translated) and Imopara 2 (63% translated and 42.5% edited) some progress. They also had Fata Morgana fandisc at 31% translated and Himatsubushi both fully translated and edited (No surprise here, since Himaitsubushi was shortest chapter in Higurashi, and by the way about Tatarigoroshi mod they still hadn't graphic patch yet). Both of announced Rance series was also fully edited and translated here (I'm more surprised if they show Rance VI progress at picked up or low translation percentage there, considering that Arunaru already translated 88% of it before he was hired by Mangagamer). For more info, 5D was in scripting and VI was in image editing.
    Speaking about translating before the announcement, we also had Nyuu Jene and Sorcery Joker which apparently already had some progress before Otakon (91% translated and edited for Nyuu Jene, and 33% translated and 22% edited for Sorcery Joker). For more update, we had Hadaka Shitsuji at 22% retranslated (I said this because we already had translation in the past, and I don't care too much anyway) and Boukaku 7.5% translated and edited. For last 2 updates, we had Pygmalion at 60% edited (At least they managed to prove that they not necessarily had 8% edited for each update here ie 2 weeks) and Himawari was almost finishing beta testing. Oh, and for Da Capo 3 right now they do their best for preparing the demo (And the engine work still continuing there).
    Oh, and this week Libra didn't had any translation progress, but they already prepared for the pre-order here, which hopefully they could deliver Libra at December (Although from the progress I kind of had slight doubt here).

    PS - Forgot to comment that we got both of Steins Gate and Dies Irae going to Steam. My comment about Dies Irae here would be let's see if it will be the truth or not, but for Steins Gate I think I could only comment that it was already obsolete because Steins Gate was already well known and discussed to the death at many forum (Although if this release was going to made Chaos Child or other 5pb games in Steam, maybe Steins Gate on Steam releaese was not so obsolete there).
    Edit - There's many update from Luna Translation other than Majokoi. Hanasaki once again dropped because of C&D issued by Saga Planet (Guess we better called Saga Planet was the new generation 'cursed' project after both of Yuzusoft and August free of that ie Saga Planet VN will be never translated for now at least). For Kanobito, once again Mitch already gathered his team and for the progress right now they had 45 scripts translated, 18 scripts finished TLC, and 1 script edited. About Witch Garden, basically right now they managed to had more than halfway common route finished TLC here although for now there's no progress in the translation though. That's all for the edit now.
    Edit 2 - For Clover Days, our Ittaku had twins (Hekiru and Hikaru) route was at halfway (50%) translated.

    Visual Novel Translation Status (08/14/2016)
    Looks like we'll had late VNTS here, so let me tried to made some early VNTS Review here (Of course I'll add VNTS link if it's posted though). This week I'll combine 2 announced title from Otakon (Hapymaher and Sona-Nyl) here so we got 'The Lucid Memories'. The reason was because in Hapymaher we'll deal with lucid dream and in Sona-Nyl we had subtitle 'What A Beautiful Memories'. As promised, this week I'll combine both of my VNTS Review and Otakon commentary here. For VNTS it's still usual update here but for Otakon here once again Mangagamer here was the winner by large margin here.
    For this week, there's not much in regard of release. One of notable release here would be Office Lover otome game which developed by Dogenzaka Lab here. I would said that this game will be good for anyone else who like otome here. And another one for the release we also had Narcissu 0 released which tell the story behind 7th floor of the hospital here if I looking from the synopsis here. This prequel should be satisfied anyone who like to read more Narcissu here. Other than that there's no big release for this week.
    Before talking about VNTS and Otakon announcement, let me said that there's no announcement from JAST here. But from Meru's Tweet there's good news for anyone else who looking forward to Flower. Namely apparently this game will be coming soon and this already ready for pre-order here (Or maybe it's been awhile and I missed that). Here's the Flower official page for the proof. And for more statements here, Peter Payne also said that this game almost ready for shipping (Although I'm still beware of word 'soon' from JAST though) in his Tweet. That's all for JAST news here.
    Sekai Project
    First, let me list the progress for their project here
    Maitetsu was 21.12% translated Chrono Clock 27.25% translated Tenshin Rahman 35.75% translated Human Reignition Project will be released at 2017 Memory Dogma will be released at November 2016 Not much comment here other than the progress for both of Tenshin Rahman and Maitetsu slowed down after some major bump from last week. Looking from production value, Memory Dogma here quite interesting with seiyuu like Nakamura Eriko and Asakawa Yuu here. Too bad that it's only first part here, so obviously to enjoy full story we must wait longer here (Also this is apparently starting becoming the trend, not the one that I like though). Oh, and the opening was quite good too. As for Human Reignition Project, for now I only know that this game was had same developer as Highway Blossom here and set up in the future. As for Chrono Clock, I'll try to comment later but it's quite interesting situation for now.
    For the announcement, both of them was only doujin here so the production value here was quite low (Although the story here might be good of course). For Fatal Twelve, it was quite interesting announcement though if only they announced it first for overseas instead of Japan although the company was from Japan. For more info, the developer for this game also responsible for Sound of Drop development. As for Garden of Dream, the opening was quite good here. The premise here was quit dark here, and involving dream at that. For more interesting news here, the developer was from Argentine although if I may said that once again the opening was had quite good with Japanese singing here (Actually Just Deserts was also had Japanese singing though). Overall, there's no much from Sekai compared to last year Otakon (They announced Tenshin Rahman at last year).
    Before forget, let me said that Shinku TL also responsible for Hoshimemo retranslation for Sekai Project here, according to Akerou's post here.
    Fan Translation
    Once again some usual progress here, so let me give the list first.
    Bishoujo Mangekyou was at 40% editing and 22.3% QC Tsui Yuri was at 68% translated Majokoi was at 32% translated and 17% edited according to Fred The Barber here. Clover's Day - The twins route was at a quarter (25%) translated To Heart 2 - Karin's route was finished for proofreading Hanasaki Works Spring project joined Luna Transaltion after some drama. For the progress last time I remember it was at 55% translated for Hikari's route Ayakashi Gohan - The summary here would be they almost finished the translation with last route was at 93% translated and omake was at 88% translated. Here's the post for more detail No Otakon announcement obviously for fan translation here. Overall, other than drama at Hanasaki here there's not much happening here ie only usual update. For the last news here Cafe will continuing the translation for SayoOshi here and will post the update at TL Wiki (Which made our Moogy happy that finally TL Wiki will be alive again). Here's his Tweet for the proof and right now the translation progress was at 30% translated and he'll try to finish the translation in 2 or 3 months later. About SayoOshi, what I knew it was denpa story which tell the story about depressed teacher who lusted over his student. It's been quite a while at TL Wiki before finally stalled for a while. Oh, and the reason I posted this on Fan Translation segment because it's unclear if Cafe will bring it to Mangagamer or not yet. That's all for Fan Translation segment.
    Mangagamer
    We surely had many exciting announcement at Otakon from them, but first of all let me said that right now Doodler was inserting the script to Da Capo 3 if we looking at his Twiiter. As for the announcement, I'll try to give some explanation one by one here.
    It's normal if we expect another Sono Hanabira title here will be licensed by Mangagamer here because after all they had the right. About Nyuu Jene here, it was actually developed by the company which formed by staff of Fuguriya who as we knew of course was behind Sono Hanabira franchise. Enough about trivia here and if we looking at the character, this time we'll had 3 new couples at once in one games instead of 2 games for one couple each like old Sono Hanabira games. This game announcement will obviously excited for anyone else who like yuri here, and of course it'll be added to the list of yuri translated games. Come to think of it, this year we already had 2 releases for good yuri games here (Hakuai and Yurirei). I just digging my old comment back at VNDB about this game and I said that 'I don't knew if Mangagamer will be license this or not'. Who knew back there that I'll get the answer that Mangagamer will license this after one year here right now. For more info here, there's a couple who also twins so we'll got twincest yuri here.
    Sona-Nyl, if I remember it's one of Ixrec planned project that he'll translated after he finished with Harvest Fiesta, before Mangagamer got Liar Soft right and Ixrec cancelled the plan. Another cancelled plan here would be Valusia. The premise for Valusia here was like some adventure in alternative version of New York at 1907 (I knew that this is part of Steampunk series, which had some pattern with alternative world and history here). To added more info, apparently the setting will be like Sharnoth, only instead of dark it will be more violet here (Oh, and New York was already in ruin). As usual, Rita was singing the opening song here and it was good. And if we looking back at Inganock and Sharnoth, I will say that this will be chapter based.
    About Sorcery Joker, our Clephas said it was quite good. Apparently the premise was something like using magic as superpower there. And in that world there's a faction who want to using magic more freely instead limited by the government there. Other than that, apparently according to Clephas once again this game was chuunige and will had some mystery. Oh, and for last note this game was the winner of Moe Game Award 2015 for Best Scenario category.
    Interesting situation there that Purple Soft decided to had partnership with Mangagamer after had one of their games (Chrono Clock) licensed by Sekai. Maybe each company who had partnership with Sekai will only licensed one game each? If I recall, same situation about moving from Sekai to Mangagamer also happened in the past with Winged Cloud, although Winged Cloud now back to Sekai though (Not that I care). Back to the announcement, about Hapymaher the premise was like our MC here was always had lucid dream (The dream that you always remember even after wake up) since the accident when he was small. In the dream, she met with mysterious girl who said that she will save MC from the lucid dream (Or as she said from his bad dream). For scenario writer, he was also write for Ataraxia together with Nasu according to VNDB. For last word here, the girls outfit design at MC dream was quite good there.
    For last announcements, we had both of Rance 5D and VI announced. As for 5D, not that much interested although it tell us of how Rance met with Rizna. What I interested is Rance VI which if I recall one years ago was delayed because Mangagamer decided to get the license right from Alice Soft. I was the one who waited for this, and frankly I was quite disagree with Arunaru back there when he decided to doing Haruka first instead of continuing this. Oh well, all that in the past though and the most important thing is that finally Arunaru continuing Rance VI here (It's obviously gameplay once again here). For the premise, Rance VI tell the story of how Rance was becaming slave because he didn't had magic capability at Zeth and he organized a rebellion against Zeth. Well, looking forward to this release at December if we talk about year end (I'll be very surprise if next one or two weeks later Mangagamer display Rance VI translation progress at 0%m considering that Arunaru alteady translated 88% of it). And about 5D, obviously the translator will be Bad End looking from his work and he will just like Arunaru here, continuing his work.

    What an eventful week this was.
    First up, some progress on both the editing and QC was made. Now, it isn't the most, but progress is always progress, and I'm happy about it. We'll try to make some amount of progress every week.

    Hello everyone, Aizen-Sama here. I’ve been only around this community and forums for around 6 months by now, and even though I may not be the most knowledgeable when it comes to VN’s in general, I think that I possess enough knowledge about the translation scene. That’s right, today I’m not writing a post about Luna Translations, but one about my opinion on the translation scene, translation groups, and the community revolving them.

    Let us establish how this community and market actually exist in the first place. Piracy and fan translating, they are both mutually exclusive to each other and they are the foundations of what we consider as the “western visual novel community”.
    After some years where piracy slowly started to decrease and official releases started to be a thing I can safely assume that there are three types of people now, one who will support every single game localization and buy the Visual Novels instead of pirating them, one who will pirate everything and anything, or one that will mix between these two because either there is no other access to the game in Japanese to apply the English patch (in other words, you can’t buy the game legally because the Japanese market is already a very difficult place to access with Western VPN’s, mostly because Japanese publishers block them to not let people outside Japan buy these games online, which is usually the only way to get them in the first place) or the individual simply doesn’t support some releases or companies that release VN’s in particular (I’ll set people that want to buy legally a game with a fan-translated patch but can’t do it, so they have to pirate the VN even if they don’t want to as an example).
    This last example leads to another concerning issue, the relationship between translation groups and the community itself. It’s partly human nature; when a group establishes itself and releases a patch (no matter whether it’s full or partial) we automatically create what is called a “power level” between these two types of people, the users that translate and work on translating games in one way or another (editing, QC’ing, etc…) and the users that simply play the releases made by the first ones.
    This so called “power level” is what should be avoided at all costs, sometimes the community must remember that the people that belong to translation groups (whether they are official or not) are part of the community as well, and have their own stances and way of doing things.
    Those “power levels” are automatically made, and they are the primary reason of this community’s fragmentation into several “sub-communities”, which is a problem mainly for the translation groups. What I’m trying to say here is that what is constantly happening right now is that what this “power division” has made is to categorize groups by number of patches released (the more they have released the more praised they are) and that has ultimately lead to two things; groups distancing themselves from the community, which is a very bad thing for both of the parties involved, and groups distancing from each other.
    What I mean by this last statement is that there is no communication between teams, which leads to what is happening in the actual society that we live in: the individualization of people (Tl-teams in this case). But regarding that aspect, some groups have managed to find a solution to this matter. Let’s put @Arcadeotic's (Euphemic Translation) and @oystein's (Elevator TL) groups for example; both of them have found a way to make the community feel closer to their groups thanks to their “Public Discord Server Policy” (that’s how I call it) and both of them are in the TL Leaders Discord Server (basically a group to try to unite translation teams more, an initiative from Arcadeotic and I). That group has opened my eyes in many aspects regarding team stances towards piracy as well as opinions about the community and it's relation with the Tl teams. This group has also helped me in getting to know people that otherwise I would have never met even if we were active members of this forum and interacted with each other sometimes, like for example Dergonu, Oystein, Kardororororo, and many more.
    What I’m ultimately trying to say is that banding together is a rare thing for groups now, and this is the first step to create a community feel again, something that, in my opinion, is being lost little by little and needs to be stopped.
    I’ll mention another issue that many people find itchy, and that is the topic of “the sense of entitlement of a loud minority”.
    I’d like to make myself very clear about this; I know that there is a silent positive majority, and that compared to the amount of people that complain about things about projects and English patches this majority vastly overcomes the “minority”, but the matter of fact is that this “loud minority” is what gives people that are new to the community a bad impression about it from the start.
    I’ll set two examples to demonstrate the last point I mentioned: firstly, I’d like to address the Koiken Otome Project, one that took approximately three years to finish. It’s a topic full of controversy, firstly because people firstly speculated that Flying Pantsu was going to “definitely sell out to the localization companies” and they made a ruckus about it.

    First of all, what if they really “sold out” to one of them? That is, in my opinion, a good thing (primarily because I belong to the “buy everything” type of guy instead of pirating unless it can’t be avoided and tend to support official releases), but mostly because, the fact of the matter is that they spent working on an English patch of a game that contains more than 40K lines three years, and the entire effort is theirs, that means that even if they decided to not release the patch for whatever reason, I would have been totally in favor. Why? Because it’s THEIR work and THEY did it, not the people that feel entitled to have the English patch.
    Same goes with the problem that revolved around the time of release. Again, I’ll repeat, the matter of fact is that they could’ve released that patch whenever they wanted because since THEY did the patch, they decide when to release it, simple.

    The second example I’ll highlight in this post talks about Shinku Translations and the controversy that revolved around the SakuSaku patch. If you don’t know what happened regarding this project I’ll quickly sum it up: Shinku Translations made a deal with Sekai Project to release the game officially, what ultimately made people who were waiting for a fan-patch very pissed. The comments on their website were mostly full of “sellouts” and “I already bought the game in Japanese, now I’ll have to buy it again, gg boys” and many more that blew my mind. That was the perfect demonstration of the entitlement that people slowly begin to have when a project is close to being finished.
     I’ll repeat myself once again, just like Koiken Otome and Flying Pantsu, it was THEIR work, so they had the right to make a deal with Sekai Project and do whatever they wanted to the patch. And, as Akerou explained in one of the comments, it could lead to more titles being localized, which, in my opinion, are good news!
     People have to start realizing that sooner or later, the entire scope if not most of the translation scope will shift towards official releases instead of fan-patches.
    As a last argument regarding this matter, I’ll mention a couple of YouTube comments that I found in the official OP video of SakuSaku published by Sekai Project’s YouTube channel, they basically said this:
    “That's a low punch SP. That's just low. The guy translating it is almost done. If you buy the translation from him and release it in the next 2 months I might forgive you. If you do it less than a month you are forgiven.”
    “Well just pirate the release when it comes out. This is one of the cases when piracy is completely justified.”
    These two comments are part of the “entitlement problem” that I’ve addressed before, and I hope they highlight what I’ve been trying to tackle (take into account that these comments are just the surface, just look at the ones in Shinku’s page and you’ll get a grasp of what this community broods sometimes).

    Last but not least, I’d like to address Fuwanovel as a platform for translation projects and my opinion about it as a Leader of a translation group (in this case, Luna Translations).
    Don’t get me wrong when I say that. I love Fuwanovel as a site. It’s one of the principal, if not the main responsible for the appearance of a community that revolves around Visual Novels in general. I love this site, and I appreciate the people that back this site paying monthly (I hope I can do it as well when I get the chance) and the mods for doing their jobs correctly and every other person that supports this site. But, I’d like to tackle the issue of trying to host translation projects in a forum-based website.
     I’d like to point out that the system created in Fuwa worked very VERY well at the beginning stages of the creation of this community. Basically, the “Fan Translator Skills” thread and the “Translation Projects” thread were probably very useful and effective back when the community was niche and not a lot of projects and teams crowded the scene (I’m not directing this towards the “Fan TL Discussion” thread, by the way).
    But, as a leader of a translation team (and I’m sure that many people will agree with me on this) I just think that Fuwa’s way of hosting projects is not as effective as it was probably two or three years ago.
    What I’m trying to say here is that, just like VNDB exists, a platform that focuses solely on helping teams and individuals to work on projects will certainly appear at some point, or at least needs to appear at some point. Summing up, Fuwanovel as a forum focused on the discussion of Visual Novels and the fan translation scene is a very good and positive website, and it’s totally needed for the community to keep growing, but! Fuwanovel (the forums) used as a platform to support projects and teams may have been very effective in the past but not anymore, since now the scope is very broad and more complex compared to when all of this started.
    Finally, to close this rant, I’d like to say that if I had to sum up things probably the most important issue would be that the community is losing the sense of being together, and groups, as well as individuals, are distancing themselves from each other, which is something that has to be avoided at all costs. I’ll personally try to do whatever I can about this matter and little by little this problem will hopefully be solved in the future, because together we can do great things.
    Let’s try to make the translation world great again, as Trump as it sounds.

    ... it's been a while since my feelings on a VN have been as complex as my feelings for this one are.  I say 'feelings' because this VN has massive emotional impact... not as much as Hapymaher, but nonetheless a lot of emotional impact. 
    To be blunt, Makoto is nothing like Hapymaher's protagonist, so if you were hoping for more of his 'consumed by sorrow and despair but still living my life' personality, sorry, no luck here.  Makoto is... a blank slate.  I don't say this in a bad way.  For better or worse, Makoto has lived his life in an isolated village where people literally don't talk any more than is absolutely necessary, lest they accidentally compel one another with their power, 'kotodama'.  Makoto has a fiance named Mana (and no, not that kind of lukewarm, 'distant fiance' sort of thing you see in some VNs, since they actually get down to business), and a rather nice, slow life in that village... However, he yearns for the outside world, where people can talk to people without restrictions.
    He escapes from the village and collapses from hunger in a small town four days later, where he is saved by the first of four heroines, Kokoro.  From there the story begins, as he makes the journey from an innocent 'kami' to a real human being with all the baggage that comes along with it. 
    A lot of the most interesting parts of this game come from the fact that he naturally doesn't understand much about the outside world.  Makoto's innocent, unstained viewpoint, combined with his natural kindness and willingness to embrace new experiences, feel surprisingly refreshing.  Things other 'normal' protagonists would worry over don't even occur to him, and he is so laid back he makes the drugged hippies of US in the sixties seem tense.  While he does change as part of the story, his personal 'lens', through which he sees the world, remains remarkably clean throughout... not to mention the guy has absolutely no sense of sexual morality (in other words, his idea of sexual morality is 'don't use his power to compel people to have sex with him').

    The first of the heroines, Kokoro, is a shojo manga addict who has fantasies about immoral relations with older brothers.  She is a natural at unconsciously grasping the hearts of others around her without trying, and she is pretty much the picture of a heroine who 'exists to be loved by everyone'.

    The second heroine, Kyouko, is a miko that can see dead people (yes, I went there).  She has huge self-esteem problems and is more than a little weird... for one thing, her reaction to Makoto is one of the more unique heroine reactions to a protagonist I've encountered over the years... for another, she is abnormally self-derogatory in both action and word.

    Mana... is the protagonist's fiance from the village.  She is pretty much apathetic about other people, unless they have the decency to provide her with food (from her point of view, people who give her food move up from 'stone in the road' to 'slightly adorable insect' in most cases).  She is a bit of an S, when it comes to Makoto, and Makoto is pretty much her reason for living.  Because of a careless use of kotodama by another member of the village, she is always cold and in her eyes, it is always snowing.

    Hotaru... is the true heroine of this story.  Cheerful and active, not to mention highly intelligent and perceptive... she is actually a fairly attractive heroine from the start.  However, she has less initial impact than Mana or Kokoro, for reasons that are fairly apparent.  Since that is by design, I actually am not complaining about this, though.
    Now, to get to the downside of this game... it uses the G-senjou 'ladder' story structure, wherein the story progresses arcs where you choose to either pursue the heroine associated with that arc to an ending or move on with the main story.  I can say that the path endings for the non-true heroines were actually pretty good, but having played the true path, they are comparatively low-impact.  A lot of this is the fact that the major events of their 'paths' are in the arcs they branched off from, so little is added by their endings save for more sex and some minor tying up of loose ends. 
    To get back to the main game... the true path is the impact I was talking about.  The main arcs were all emotional, so I guess you can say that the other heroines' 'paths' were also emotional, but, as I mentioned above, there is a definite sense that very little was added by choosing one of the other heroines.  Hotaru's path is easily the most powerful 'arc'.  In fact, it is so emotional and powerful that there are two ends for it.  The first one (which you are required to watch first) is... sad, to say the least.  It isn't a bad ending, but it is a sad one.  I know I cried.  For the second ending... well, let's just say it is a good one and leave it at that.
    Overall, my viewpoint on this game is... just as mixed as I said above.  My conclusions on the G-Senjou story structure are unchanged in the least.  I still believe that all VNs that use that story structure should be changed to kinetic novels, just so I don't have to deal with heroine endings that are neglected by the creators of the stories themselves.  While all stories with true heroines inevitably put a much larger emphasis on the true heroine, the way this story structure trivializes the other heroines is really irritating, especially when they are good heroines, like these were.  However, if you take the arcs, characters, and the true endings separate from that source of irritation, it is a great VN.  It just happens to use the single worst VN story structure in existence.  Indeed, that story structure and the inevitable realities it brings along with it are the only thing that kept me from naming this as a kamige. 
    PS: I will erase any and all comments that spoil anything in the last arc.  I say this because this is the type of VN that can only be enjoyed to the fullest once, not the type that merely changes flavor with each playthrough, like Devils Devil Concept.  Anyone who spoils this VN should have their skin sliced open, drawn back, then have salt rubbed into the exposed flesh.

    Visual Novel Translation Status (08/06/2016)
    Well, sorry for not interesting title here. For the title, since admin Tay was recommended us to buy Fata Morgana 6 times while in Fata Morgana we had white haired girl, so why not make black haired girl as the title here since we had the black haired girl as image header. For VN release (Hunk Factory), let's just said that it's not my interest to said it lightly. Oh, and for the VN in image header, it's quite unpopular there if we looking at VNDB.
    This week there's not much update to write here, and Sekai was apparently had some shakeup in the company. JAST was still usual business for them (No update), and there's no update from Mangagamer (Maybe they preparing for Otakon) instead they hold summer sales there, which to be honest not quite interested but if you want to buy Mangagamer VN at cheaper price, go ahead. And since we didn't had many update, instead of section I'll just made some roundup for each paragraph here.
    Sekai, while they facing some shakeup they're still give some usual update here. Both of Tenshin Rahman and Maitetsu progress here was had significant progress (19.27% translated for Maitetsu and 33.78% for Tenshin Rahman), while Chrono Clock progress here was as fast as snail ie slow (26.84% translated). I Miss Her was had 0.2% translation progress bringing it to 7.22% translated. And for last news here Princess Knight will be released at August 30th according to Steam store here. Other than small updates, there's not much here.
    For fan translation progress, first of all let me said that Kanobito translation will be joined with Luna Translation here (By the way, finally Kanobito had editor there). Speaking about Luna Translation, this week they gave some juicy update here (Majokoi 30% translated, while for Witch Garden we had 66% translation progress (Eclair route was fully translated) and 10% TLC). Bishoujo Mangekyou, we had 33.9% editing progress and QC at 20.1%. For Tsui Yuri, there's some update in editing (63% edited) but looks like there will be some obstacle in translating here. Other than that, not much to talk here, although if I may nitpicking here Hanasaki progress was not 43% translated for Hikari's route, but 48% (I knew it's quite hard to see the exact number though).
    For closing words here right now I also played Supipara, which since this is minori it mean that there's usual scenery porn from them, and there's some nice sakura effect there (Although it slowed down the text though, or maybe my laptop was too old here). By the way, for first word here the MC was had some kind of amnesia and so does his mother (Which quite young despite being around 36 or 37). I'll write my little review about this later.

    Hello guys. This is our first bi-weekly update. I'll cover everything that needs to be mentioned and all of that. Progress speed has been the average, nothing extraordinary, but it's still progress whatsoever. Here we go:
    Majo Koi Nikki
    As you guys may or may not know, we have released our first partial patch (check the post out if you haven't) which covers around 4.200 lines approximately, basically the game's prologue. Apart from that, the progress has been steady this last couple of days and we managed to reach 30% of translated lines. The TLC has catched up with the translation progress and the editing keeps progressing with no bumps whatsoever.

    Witch's Garden

    This game has probably the juiciest news out of the two, so brace yourselves. Eclair's route has been completely finished and the only two routes left are Ayari's. So yeah, those are very good news. Apart from that, TLC progress is steady and editing is still on hold, we want to keep making progress in the TLC field, because at this point we're basically retranslating full scripts sometimes and just a couple of lines in others, it's really strange and frustrating for the TLC's sometimes, so that's why we ask for your patience, because the TLC (or retranslation) will take some time to finish.
    Anyways, here are the numbers for both:

    TLC 10%
    We haven't included the accurate line numbers this time because we're experienceing some difficulties with the already linebreaked original lines, messing up the count. Sorry about it.
    Other things worth mentioning:
    We've created a Twitter account. There, we'll be pumping live and small updates about progress and what happens in the group in general, so be sure to follow us! One translator who previously worked in Majo Koi (Rauros Falls) has decided to step back from Majo Koi and start translating Musumaker again. Expect Musumaker updates as well as soon as he starts working on it. We are very glad to announce that we are going to be taking care of a new project in this group. The game is called Kanojo to Ore to Koibito to (VNDB). Soon, we'll add it to our current active projects and lay out the usual links and pages for it for people to be more informed about it. Expect progress about this project in our website from now on.
    About Kanojo to Ore to Koibito to (or tototo or shorts), the people taking care of it were the recent team members that weren't listed in neither of our staff pages for the two current active projects in our website (Majo Koi and WG). The team is:

    Visual Novel Translation Status (07/30/2016)
    For the title, first two should be obvious if we looking at the picture (Samurai from ChuSingura and Witch from Supipara). For the princess part, the character in Corona Blossom was voiced by Fujimori Yukina and since Fujimori Yukina also voiced a princess in Madou Koukaku (Margrietta), I using princess part as seiyuu joke here.
    To be honest for VNTS this week there's not much update here, so let me try to give my impression for the releases here first. All I could said that the releases was still in partial part for supposed fully Visual Novel. Oh, and sorry for late post here.
    About ChuSingura, interesting strategy maybe using Chapter 2 and 3 as DLC for freely available Chapter 1. If I may speak a little more here, Chapter 1 was dealing with purple haired MILF (Ooishi Kuranosuke) that could be able turn to child, Chapter 2 dealing with blue haired samurai (Horibee Yasube, also the samurai in VNTS Image) who want to avenge her lord (Or should be lady here), and Chapter 3 dealing with the daughter of the MILF (Ooishi Chikara) according from the review that I read. My question here would be when last 2 chapters will be released, although looking from release pattern there hopefully not too long (Keep in mind that this is only my wishful thinking).
    Supipara, the opening song was good, the scenery porn was as expected from minori, and there's no sex scene so if this entered Steam it shouldn't be much surprise here. Unfortunately, the no sex scene here was apparently the source of Supipara downfall because there's some issue that the people didn't want to buy this because there's no sex scene here back at Japan. And because of Supipara flop I'd also read some post that say minori was about face bankruptcy before some rich people donate them. Since Japan sales was flop, minori was of course interested with Steam and decided to license Supipara and use their own of fundraising to develop future Supipara chapters, which to be honest it was quite worrying if we looking from the fund gathered. For useless trivia, Supipara was acronym for Smile, Peace, Passion, and Love there.
    Corona Blossom, well Volume 1 was released as expected. But what caught my attention here would be the length according to VNDB. If the length at VNDB was true, we'll probably will get something like medium length visual novel here, although for now we still couldn't know it though. The reason it was short was maybe it's another experiment here just like back at KARAKARA, but instead from Sekai this time we apparently had Frontwing interested by crowfunding here and using Indie Go Go. Unlike ChuSingura which we still didn't know when it'll be delivered and Supipara which the problem was lack of necessary funds for now, Frontwing was promised us that Volume 2 and 3 will be delivered around October here (I don't certain though).
    Sekai Project
    Chrono Clock was 26.44% translated I Miss Her was at 7.02% translated Tenshin Rahman 30.49% translated Maitetsu was at 16.32% translated Wagahigh was at 21.9% translated Dovac outburst at his Twitter earlier aside, there's no much update from Sekai because most of their project was listed at 100% here. Although if I may give some comment here would be the progress for Chrono Clock, Maitetsu, and Tenshin Rahman here was very slow. Oh, and Just Desert was released but there's still no Indonesian language release ie it'll be released later. Maybe next week I'll just list Sekai like this and without comment, because there's noting worth to comment from them mostly.
    Fan Translation
    Bishoujo Mangekyou was 32% edited and 18.2% QC-ing Tsui Yuri was 63% translated Majokoi demo translation patch released Yosuga no Sora was 88.15% translated and apparently this is their first update for half a year Lovely Caption was 34% translated Other than usual update, I'd more interested with Yosuga no Sora here, because this project was already go for very long time and yet still not finished. The good question here would be when the heck this project will be finished (Although the main girl route Sora was already translated though). Oh, and the premise was like incest between twin sibling here, and the girl twin was Sora. About Majokoi, I'll try it later. Speaking about patch, in regard of Dracu Riot turn out that the last week patch from Fiddle should be release for next year April Fool, because it change the name of the cast and made it more confusing. I think that's all I could comment now.
    For other section, other than ChuSingura 2 more chapters release and Corona Blossom Volume 1 release that I wrote earlier, there's some surprise in regard of Libra translation progress. This week we had Calen's route at 25% translated, and I think the progress will including editing and QC (Although I still questioning if there will be another update from Mikandi though).

    Edit 1 - Just check it, and we also had progress from Tsukiyori translation project. Right now it was at 24% translated for Luna's route.

    Also, one of our two QCs gone MIA came back, so I'll be updating the staff now. He had some issues with his computer breaking down and thus he went MIA after one or two weeks after starting this project, but I'm glad he's back.

    For better or worse, the VN localization industry in America and other Western nations is expanding rapidly, primarily due to the efforts of aggressive localization companies such as Mangagamer and Sekai Project, but also due to the increased interest on the part of at least some Japanese VN companies in making a few extra bucks through localization. 
    I say 'for better or worse' because the increase in localizations has actually begun to outline what some of the biggest problems with VNs are, for those living in the West.  What I've put down below is basic guidance... not all of which I follow myself, but which is mostly common sense (which a surprising number of new Fuwans seem to be ignorant of).
     
    Ethical/Legal problems
    1. Piracy- To be blunt, prosecuting consumers of pirated games is a waste of time, and most companies are quite well aware of this.  So, most of the fallout for this kind of thing is going to keep hitting the websites and individuals who promote the distribution end of things.  A few examples will most likely be made of outspoken pirate consumers (the idiots, in other words), but the problem here is almost entirely ethical for most.  Tell me, do you think it is right not to pay for content if you happen to have the money needed to pay for it?
    2. Lolicon content- Seriously guys?  When I saw that Maitetsu was getting a localization, even though it was an all-ages one, alarm bells went off in my head.  Someone is inevitably going to put up an h-patch for the game, and that is going to cause a huge amount of controversy later on that could be a huge blow to the industry, in the short run.  Loli content is one of the two nuclear bombs of Japanese eroge, and it is the one that honestly bothers me the most personally (not so much morally, as in a pragmatic sense).
    3. Rapegames- I'm going to be blunt... considering the degree to which Western culture has come to consider rape a mortal sin, do you really think games focused around rape and extreme sexual situations (ie the entire Maggot Baits game) are safe for the industry to localize, if you consider their potential to backfire?  There is no conceivable way that these games could be considered anything other than obscene by any reasonable critic (not a community one, in other words), and in the long run, games like these have an enormous potential to castrate the localization industry.
    4. School-based games- Sadly, the excuse that 'all the heroines are over eighteen' is only going to take you so far in some countries... to be blunt, a judge is unlikely to listen to that kind of protestation if, for whatever insane reason, you end up dragged into court.
    Common sense issues
    1. I don't think anyone has any business telling us we can't import Japanese games, including VNs.  However, as a matter of common sense, you should probably avoid importing anything with a lot of content linked to the numbers 2 and 3 in the section above.  I don't mean to piss on your bonfire, but if you are going to buy something with that kind of material, at least have the sense to use digital download purchases and/or don't display the packages for that type of eroge where casual visitors can see them.
    2. Figurines and other side-junk- Within reason, there is no reason why a fan of a particular bit of otaku media shouldn't order figurines, statuettes, oppai mousepads, etc to decorate their room or gaming space.  However, keep it within reason... I've seen otaku friends of mine go insane and overpurchase, even going into debt, over buying swag.  If you aren't rich, have the sense to focus on the main material first, then expand at a reasonable pace into the swag.  To an extent, the same can be said of the games themselves, considering the costs of the actual purchases plus import costs.
    3.  Anonymity is your best friend.  Don't pull stupid crap like linking your Facebook profile to your dlsite or getchu account... for that matter, don't link them to your Fuwanovel account, if you are a fan of 'deep' eroge content.  Leaving that kind of data around for casual skimmers to find is just plain stupid.
    4.  If you are a fantranslator, number 3 applies emphatically unless you are about to go 'legit' by handing your translation to a localization company.
    5.  During scandal times (like when the media is making a big deal over an eroge-related issue such as during the infamous Rapelay incident) have the sense to take cover and avoid conversing on rapegames and lolige publicly. 
    6.  Know the difference between being open about your libido and being excessive *remembers Steve*
     
    A final comment
    Needless to say, almost all the issues above revolve around controversial sexual content.  Part of that is that many people, both inside and outside the VN fanbase, have trouble marking the difference between fiction and reality when it comes to otaku media (an insanity that I can understand but am long past).  As a legal argument, it (as in the argument that figments of an artist's or writer's imagination, as opposed to real women, cannot be considered underaged and cannot be considered victims in any way, form, or fashion) actually has a lot of merit... but that doesn't mean that they'll rule in your favor, in the end, lol.  The West is prudish, to the extreme.  There is no telling when religious interests will slip a noose around our necks, and general moralists are just as bad.  I'm not perfect about taking my own advice.  I'm a VN junkie, and I really don't have any morals when it comes to my search for good VN stories.  I might be disgusted by some content, but that won't prevent me from experiencing the story, lol.  However, a lot of the people around me seem to be utterly unaware of the risks of being an eroge reader... and I felt I had to put this out there, for the 'public' good, even though I'm certain I've already pissed off the anti-censorship and pro-piracy parts of the community, lol.
