  1. Sounds pretty interesting, actually. May get tedious though if it's so slow-paced.
  2. Well, the first 5-ish volumes of Average Abilities LN were actually pretty decent, imo. It's a rare "relaxing" isekai that actually has some semblance of character development, worldbuilding and overarching mystery. Though the development was extremely slow, and after 10 volumes it still got basically nowhere. The characters themselves are pretty colorful, and I didn't find them particularly annoying. Though nowadays I'm way more tired of these common isekai tropes, so there's a chance that if I read the story right now I would find them a lot more annoying. My problem with this story is that it didn't end while it was still good. Eventually it just starts getting boring, and the jokes start getting dumber and rather repetitive. The overarching mystery also gets nowhere. The author still manages to keep some level of quality, and it is still somewhat fun to read, but at some point I just stopped caring. I tried watching a few episodes of the anime, and, honestly, it's hard for me to judge it since I've read the source material, but I didn't like it at all. It changed a lot compared to the source material, and while I don't think it's a problem, but I compared how some scenes were handled I couldn't help but feel that the LN version was better. For example, I recall there was a scene in the LN where the MC intentionally lost in a fight to seem weaker than she actually is, but her examiner still realized that she is a lot stronger than she pretends since she avoided all the blows that could hurt her. In the anime... she just snaps when someone calls her flat-chested and accidentally wins the fight. The Ln also has a lot of these types of jokes, but there were also some good ones. Though, I guess, this type of the anime is more similar in quality to the later volumes of the LN.
  3. Sure. And I generally find them pretty enjoyable. Though, I'd say Leadare is still on the weaker side there, because even among the other works in this sub-genre there's nothing that makes it stand out. I don't remember the comedy being particularly funny, and some scenes are outright cringy. The MC is nice, but somewhat bland, and the other characters are completely forgettable. It still works, somehow. Probably due to the comfy feeling it provides. Well, it doesn't have an anime, but I'll Survive Making Potions (from the author of Didn't I Say to Make my Abilities Average?) went complete horseshit in volume 6, and it was bad enough to make me instantly drop all books from this author.
  4. I've read a few volumes of the original LN. And it was kind of okay? Nothing particularly outstanding. Zero story to speak of. OP protagonist. But it also has none of these revolting elements so many other isekais have, and is kind of okay for a light read. I may continue with it eventually when I have nothing better to read. Paladin LN, I believe, is quite well received, but I haven't read it.
  5. I think I've seen maybe a chapter or two of the manga for this? Or maybe the premise is just very similar. Didn't seem like my type of the story though, so I dropped it.

    WN: Hell Mode

I've read the first two volumes of the LN translation. Honestly, while the idea seemed interesting, I ended up dropping it in the end. I just didn't like all the grinding, especially since the protagonist has to grind a hundred times more than everyone else to get to the same level. Also, there's way too little character interactions for my taste. Most of the story is just pure leveling, and everything else is secondary. Maybe it changes later, but I don't really care anymore.
  7. I haven't read this particular story, but I notice that I generally find this type of fantasy/isekai where the protagonist actually has to work to become strong a lot more enjoyable than the type where they are just OP from the start. Unless the growth is very fast and is caused by some wunderwaffel or something.
  8. Honestly, sound just like a pretty basic combination of some very common isekai cliches. I don't know how well it handles them though. By the way, are you interested in reading Monster Tamer? It'd be interesting to read your reaction to it. I'd say, thematically and plotwise it's somewhat similar to Arifureta, but darker and without comedic parts. I'm not a big fan of its writing, but I like how deeply it explores its characters and the relationships between them.
  9. Good enough, i believe. The two non-main girls' stories are a bit rushed, and I found the medieval part more enjoyable to read than to watch, but the other parts are exactly the same in both formats. I haven't seen the first season of the anime, but, to be fair, LB! visual novel has some fanservice as well. I watched some episode reviews on youtube as it was coming out, and some people literally couldn't understand what was happening in the later parts of the first season. I agree that this anime makes a nice addition to the VN if you read it, but I still consider it one of the worst anime I've ever watched. To be fair, I don't really watch bad anime.
  10. Nice. I thought it was cancelled. Good to see it wasn't. Let's say I'm intrigued to see an isekai in the VN format. The ones I played so far were pretty good. Though I do hope it doesn't become too generic.
  11. Honestly, it sounds generic enough to be from anywhere. I don't think I've heard this one though, so it's probably not from a VN I've played.
  12. Imo the second part is a lot better, and I agree with @alpacaman that it works on its own. Though there is also something like a cliffhanger there, so there may be some sense in waiting another decade for 2b. Also, Mhakna Gramura and Fairy Bell deserves more attention than it gets.

  14. It can, if they hire cheaper and less experienced writers because they have limited budget. Though I'm not sure that's what happened here because I know little about this game.
  15. It's been a while since I read the game, so, honestly, I don't remember much about him. The thing that I know for sure is that I absolutely hated Kei's route in Extra, and, since it was the first route I played, I was pretty close to dropping the game. I'm glad I didn't. She's actually one of the main characters in another VN made by the same company, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien. Sadly, that game is still untranslated. Meiya. I actually didn't like her at all in Extra, but she grew on me during Unlimited and Alternative. Well, if we are talking about the trilogy as a whole, I'm not a big fan of Extra. As for Aternative, honestly, there are weaker parts, like the ending and the first h-scene, but I can't say that I outright hate any parts in the VN.
  16. I don't think so. Not yet, at least. I'm not sure how American laws work, but I wonder if it's even possible to pick it up from them without completely retranslating everything? It definitely would be possible if they went bankrupt, but they decided not to pay taxes instead, and right now they aren't allowed to any type of business, as far as I know.
  17. The Holy Grail of Eris turned to to be a surprisingly interesting mystery story. Though I'll probably switch to the LN when it comes out in March. Honestly, I thought that the villainess genre was done for, with a massive amount of absolute garbage that comes out regularly, but it looks like I found a gem.
  18. The Steam version comes out today/tomorrow depending on your timezone. Apparently, they had to censor some CGs to put it on Steam. Funny enough, the "censored" versions look pretty much exactly like they did in the original Rewrite release.
  19. Two gender benders in one season, huh? Usually they happen, like, once every ten years, lol. I've heard that the one with the bishoujo ojisan is pretty funny, and the other one has a rather mixed reception. I personally lost interest in both after a few chapters, but I may return to them again. Probably not in the anime format though. Leadale is cool, by the way. It's a pretty standard isekai, but relatively well done. Arifureta season 2 is coming, huh. I haven't watched the first season, and I'm not going to, but the reception was terrible. And I've seen some videos that compared it to the original book, and, yeah, they skipped a lot of things. But who knows, I've heard that there were some production issues with the first season, and apparently the anime had only half of the budget it was supposed to have, so theoretically this season may be better. I'm not going to check. Honestly, I probably won't watch anything this season. Maybe I'll check out a few episodes of Leadale to see how faithful they are.
  20. The link leads to the 2019 thread.
  21. Perhaps, I worded it slightly incorrectly. I mean, it's not exactly a good adaptation, but it's still a good anime on its own if you don't compare it to the VN.
