I disagree, popularity does equal quality, maybe it just isn't the kind of quality you care about. Anyway, It's already been established that shinkai is a very talented director, so why should we snub him when he suddenly becomes popular as well?

Holy shit, has anyone else checked the MAL top anime list? Kimi no na wa has shot right to number 1 just like that. Damn, I should really watch it.

IMO best of the best VN reading dilemma
john 'mr. customer' smith replied to Hayashi's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I don't feel like everyone just saying IT'S SHIT with no explanation is very helpful. Can we get some opinions from someone who doesn't think subahibi is pretentious kusoge? Surely, It's vndb rating should mean there are some? -
This seems like a really cool concept with a unique style! I love your music as well, but the tracks seem rather short. I think it'd be worth investing some time in making them loop seamlessly, since it would stop the player from losing immersion every time the track fades out and starts over. Artwise, the rooms and characters look fine, but the rest of the ship and the space background could do with some more budget. I'm definitely backing this.

I'm currently playing Cute Demon Crashers. It's been intriguing me for some time, being the only game I've ever heard of that qualifies as both otome and nukige, and there's something very refreshing about an obviously sex-centered VN (no romance at all) with a female target audience. The H-scenes have a very strong focus on foreplay, and with every new act of said foreplay you can choose to continue, skip said act or stop the scene altogether. The game puts a very strong emphasis on consent and feeling safe in in intimacy Obviously, The protag is completely self-insert and the characters, plot etc. are very, very underdeveloped and downright cheesy, but that should already be obvious from the nukige tag. The overall charm and polish more than make up for it for me. It's worth a try at least, considering the price tag of nada. My only real problem so far is that as a result of all the focus on consent, the demons don't feel like demons AT ALL. Mirari and Kael especially, they feel more like hippies than anything else. H hides the UI. You're welcome. vndb

I'd rather have them be a massive pervert than scream every time they see a nipple. -

Planetarian. It was pretty much my first encounter with (serious) anime/manga/vn tropes. It has a very stereotypically enthusiastic anime character, but the fact that she is a robot built only to please (japanese?) customers made that very easy to swallow for me. It also has stellar writing and presentation and some really beautiful and impactful moments, and you can read it in an evening. I'd be lying if I said I'd had much success trying to get friends to read and like it, but I still believe you don't need any experience in anime/manga to enjoy it.

^ I guess Kyoani if they went full Nichijou on it might work too Interesting point. Do you think a child actor would work well?
-
Yeah I know. I personally think it wouldn't be that hard to adapt, but it would take a really good team to make it work well enough. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATr9m6jUITM

Are you kidding me? we're getting a friggin' Danbo anime but still no Yotsuba anime??? Also, how the hell did Anitore sell well enough for a second season? can't wait for the Planetarian movie though

This is (not) the end [RL-related post]
john 'mr. customer' smith replied to Kurisu-Chan's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
I still agree with what Kaguya said. you're not a bad, selfish person (much) and neither is everyone you'll ever meet IRL (mostly). you'll need to build a lot of trust to understand that, and that's not easy. but it's possible. It's really not. Everyone deserves to be happy -

Oh my god I need this in my life what is it from??? -
ABe is ABae terrible puns aside, welcome! you seem like the kind of person that would fit right in. Your vndb suggests you've read and liked a lot of short and focused vns, (like me) please correct me if i'm wrong, but I'd like to suggest Narcissu based on that.

I meant more in general, but I guess that means it does vary wildly with different artists?
-
I looked trough https://exhentai.org/g/913985/0840499ca7/, which is by one of my favourite artists at the moment, and it's surprisingly enjoyable and easy to follow even though I can't read a single letter of it. I wonder if that's because of the great art or just because most hentai these days is just made to be pretty and predictable. Alternatively, it could be forcing me to use my imagination to fill the gaps with more lewdness than it actually has. @Nosebleed any experience with this?
