  1. Unfortunately, after reading Ayame's route, I'm going to drop If You Love Me, Than Say So/SukiSuki. I loved Ayame, her innocent and curious remarks and love of fast good and gaming made for some great interactions. She definitely had that 'weirdo' vibe I like without being too over the top and had a pretty good explanation for why she's the way she is. And is just generally a sweet girl. Sadly I didn't really like... just about anything else. A lot of the humor (outside Ayame) sucked. Yuki and Aoi basically bullying the MC almost all the time was insanely grating. Mahiru being a typical loli tsundere with immature physical hitting wasn't good either. The route structure in general is just kinda dumb. The common route skit system is nice for getting certain interactions with characters you want. However, the fact you need a certain amount of points to do a proper "Confession" for a girl who clearly likes you is kinda weird. The main routes have two branches with another "Confession" part that deals with drama. Apparently these ending branches eventually reach them same conclusion anyway but just with different paths and slightly different takes. There's a "Cupid Flower" version of each main route but all it does is put more romance slice of life scenes before the original confession. In theory that's fine but you can ONLY do it after seeing the main ending of the route. To me it makes more sense to have these available before the main route ending somehow since the tonal shift is too weird after seeing the drama then going back just to see slice of life only to realize the Cupid Flower version of the route still has the same endings anyway. Speaking of Cupid Flowers, I'm not really a fan of how the "random supernatural" was included. This setting easily could without QP and love fairy shit. And doesn't help QP is annoying as hell and part of the bad humor. To me a lot of the stuff could have happened without this stuff being included but I guess they needed a way for this to stick out compared to typical moege. Just felt like they wanted a way to have some KEY-lite nakige supernatural shit when they felt like. Speaking of KEY, Ayame's route is supposed to be one of the weaker ones. While her 'drama' was interesting, I thought the way it was resolved in both of her endings was way too rushed and had way too much supernatural. It pretty much reminded me of a typical KEY true ending but happening way too quickly. Apparently almost every route is better, but considering I didn't like the other 2 main girls, I didn't bother even if they supposedly have better stories (but I'm going to assume the structure is similar). Speaking of routes, apparently Chiho and especially Rinka have pretty good routes. However, you have this super long ass common route, and they don't even appear until you finish 1-2 of the main routes! How am I supposed to care about them until you force them after others with no screentime? I'm already forcing myself through a drawn out game with shitty humor. Doesn't help likable characters like Eri and Maya get plenty of common route screentime and don't get routes. Overall, I did not like this VN much at all, but I loved Ayame and her interactions so much that alone got me to continue reading this VN, to the point I started skimming a lot of non-Ayame dialogue. I had no expectations, but was still pretty disappointed. Damn, what a shame. 4/10
  2. After a couple of online controversial events, the "Censorship" buzzword has been coming back up related to visual novels in the community. In this video, I'll cover some cases of stuff people consider Visual Novel Censorship and then my opinion on them.
  3. I could see it happen eventually but it'd take a lot of reprogramming, or worse, retranslating it from the ground up
  4. I have updated the list for 2022. Mostly added a few new fantranslation groups that have gotten Discords last year.
  5. To say December 2021 was a stacked month for visual novels is an understatement. 2 big visual novel translations that have been delayed finally got released, many anime adaptations announced, and other cool releases and announcements!
  6. Lovekami is interesting but at the same time I don't know anyone who even cares about that VN so I likely wouldn't have talked about it. I did not know about the Taisho x Alice thing, I'll have to look into that. Sharin no Kuni... If/when it actually releases I would definitely talk about it, there's too much hilarity with that one. It'd be good for a sequel vid cuz I'm sure frontwing will keep piling on.
  7. Kotori Kanbe became one of my favorite characters in visual novels, a big part due to her hilarious Engrish. This video compiles some of the most memorable times she used Engrish in the Rewrite visual novels. Chiwa Saito as this role is too good.
  8. 0:13 Koikano 0:48 Aikoi 1:25 Bokusen 1:53 Kiss Bell 2:23 Hataota 3:08 Artemis Blue 3:38 Cocoro@Function! 4:13 Akeiro Kaikitan 4:50 enking 5:23 Tsujidou Virgin Road
  9. I was inspired by cublikefoot's recent "what kamige left" video. I compiled 10 visual novels with no translation plans on the horizon I'll either read in Japanese eventually or hope for a translation and talked about why I'm interested in them.
  10. For over 15 years, it's been interesting seeing how English official and fan translations of VNs have intersected. In this video, I'll cover 10 Visual Novels that I thought have had interesting or unique English releases.
  11. Don't have experience with either. That said, if you want something free, VSDC gets the job done for low maintenance editing AND is free. Those Vegas and Premiere prices... unless you're gonna be doing pro video editing as a job or Youtube career or something I dunno if you should jump straight into one of those.
  12. The November 2021 version of the Visual Novel Monthly Recap is out! This month had fantranslation ports to updated versions, some interesting translation reveals, timely kickstarters, and a whole bunch of nukige.
  13. In this video I've tiered 101 visual novels I've read to date. Going to mostly be based on my opinion with little to no "objectivity". If a visual novel isn't on here, that means I haven't read enough of it, or just watched the anime adaptation.
  14. The October 2021 version of Visual Novel Monthly Recap is out. Lots of interesting announcements including a brand new released Japanese VN, an open beta, more surprise Shiravune releases, few moeges releases, and a company closure.
  15. I think it'd be fair to call it that. It's Nitro+ so all endings are guaranteed to be bittersweet at best.
  16. I saw a few blog post reviews, but was surprised there wasn't a Discussion topic for one of the highest rated visual novels in the west and Japan. Especially since this was one of THE legendary untranslated """kamige""" for the longest time. Anyway, what's your opinion on it? I recently finished it and enjoyed it. Probably my favorite Nitro+ VN now, but I wouldn't quite put it on my list of favorite VNs.
  17. Really surprised no one mentioned Karen from Making Lovers yet Easily one of the most universally liked moege tsunderes out there
  18. well Ryuukishi07 wrote Lucia's route. Higurashi, Umineko, Rose Guns Days, Higanbana, and Ciconia will likely have at least 1 thing you liked from Lucia route.
  19. Visual Novel Monthly Recap for September 2021 News is out. Some big surprises including a non-Nekonyan SMEE release, the resurrection of a well-loved company, and several fantranslation projects.
  20. I made a video how to buy Japanese Visual Novels for Fantranslation patches or reading in Japanese. It may be slightly difficult to do if you don't live in Japan, so hopefully this video helps. Also this might be my favorite thumbnail I made to date.
