  1. Ever been interested in the history of visual novel "fan improvement" patches that have come up over the years? This video will go over most of the major ones along with potential pros and cons. Includes H Scenes, Overall Presentation, and Translations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB28Ke2H2XY
  2. Looking for a new hard hitting nakige visual novel with some supernatural mystery? Allow me to recommend Irotoridori no Sekai. Hoshimemo is almost nothing like it: Different writer, almost no High School SoL, and kinda depressing. More in this video:
  3. I recently got the privilege to do official PAID Software QA for NUKITASHI 2. This inspired me to do a duology review of both NUKITASHIs, as they are now two of my favorite visual novels of all time. No major spoilers in this review:
  4. The first one has a chance of releasing in the next few months. Wouldn't be surprised if the next two took several years IF they come out.
  5. Most likely they'll have to finish the Iroseka trilogy first, then maybe Sakura Moyu after
  6. It's that time to talk about favorite media in 2023 is so may as well go in video form: Explaining what MY personal favorite visual novel content read in 2023 was, in the style of Video Game Awards Categories using a meme template. If you want to make your own template, here is a empty version where you can fill out your own with the edited category names.
  7. Brought to you by Shiravune, Purplesoft and the writer of the 9-nine- series, is Liminal / Criminal Border 1st Offence. One of my favorite psychological thriller stories I've consumed. Find out more about this visual novel in this NON-spoiler video review!
  8. A moderator in my personal discord has made a visual novel waifu tier list template with over 1000 options. In this video I will be making a tier list of about 160 of those girls. If you want to make your own tier list You can follow this template link. I am interested to see other people's opinions: https://tiermaker.com/create/albireos-ultimate-vn-wiafu-tier-list--fixed-16036676
  9. I just realized I have quite a lot of visual novels I've stalled or have been considering dropping and I'd rather finish these before getting more new ones. Just been having trouble getting motivation for any of them. Looking/ hoping for any user to provide me any motivation for any of these VNs to continue because I'd rather not let them go to waste. Leyline 1- a lot of people say the second and especially the third game get better. But the first few hours of the first game are so boring. I can't get past it. I backed the Kickstarter trilogy Cafe stella- usually previous Yuzusoft despite my complaints with that usually had one heroin that interested me. However, the only one that even kind of interested me is the childhood friend, but all the heroines have just been boring and/or annoying ( that's mostly because Cafe Stella is even more annoying with its calling to protagonist a pervert humor than usual). Cafe setting isn't that interesting either Clover days- this childhood friend dating sim actually has surprisingly potentially interesting depth even early on. Unfortunately, there's a lot of annoying generic Alcot style early to mid 2000s harem pervert humor that I don't like Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai - I think I'm like an hour in where there's at least a handful of temporary library club members. The major characters are likeable enough but outside helping one or two people they haven't really stuck out Hapymaher - this is the only English purple soft VN I've not even read a single route of. The lucid dream theme seems interesting, but none of the characters have been particularly likeable yet, but I don't think I met them all. Maybe like three of them Nanairo reincarnation- I heard that there's surprisingly good drama, but I just can't get over the stupid setting of demons living in your house thing Newton in the apple tree- I started the childhood friend route. The VN so far is just been okay at best. The characters are tolerable enough. I wasn't super into the whole fucking up a Newton setting to begin with though SakuSaku - apparently there's a few solid routes including a incest route that has actual drama. Unfortunately the first hour of the common route is just so boring. The characters are so forgettable Primal x hearts 2- I only finished Alice Tia's route since she was easily my favorite character. The other Main heroines are decently likable to but I heard that usagi is the only one that actually has a route with actual progression and not just H scene Study steady- I like the graphics, character designs, and overall presentation, but all four main heroin personalities have been super boring to me, in the common route Witchs love diary - I think the premise is super interesting. I think I read like a couple hours. I'm only seeing a few shifts of the various revolving set of characters, none have really stuck out though Chrono clock - I only finished DD's route and I was heavily disappointed. I heard that the clock rewinding gimmick is heavily underutilized in other routes and the other non-DD heroines haven't particularly interested me Choi Dengeki Stryker - outside of gogo Nippon which I'm waiting to read before going to Japan. This is the only English overdrive visual novel I have not completed yet. I got to like chapter 5 of the common route despite the setting seem interesting, the characters have just been really boring all around Farther than the blue sky - the rocket theme looks really interesting. Sadly, the humor is just been really annoying between the main character, the sadistic redhead, the obnoxious childhood friend, and just typical harem style pervert accident shit Flowers 1 - I've been told that the original flowers has the slowest start and it just gets better as it goes. However, I think I got like a few hours in and it just didn't really hook me but this was also a long time ago Hello lady! - please tell me the main character stops the dumb groping shenanigans. When he gropes the black hair girl the way beginning that immediately pissed me off. Which sucks because the story seems interesting enough Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai - I started misa's route. Even as a Moege / slice of life fan. I can't believe how disgustingly boring and slow-paced it is. Which sucks because the characters are decently Likable Koikari for Love for Hire - I thought the game was enjoyable up until the hasumi Emi Love triangle common route branch started and I thought it got way too melodramatic and the comedy was way less funny. Do their actual routes get better? Sakuranormi Dreamers - I heard people think this game was disappointing, but I actually kind of sort of liked the common route of what I read so far. I think I recently met Kureha and learned her name. I just haven't been motivated to read for some reason Wonderful everyday / Subahibi- I think I literally read down the rabbit hole one and just haven't gotten motivation to continue since. Not sure if I'm ready for the philosophy stuff and the dark edgy content yet Dohna Dohna - of all the alicesoft games, has by far the most interesting setting and characters. However, I just don't want to deal with the game play right now. Is it possible to skip or cheese the gameplay just to get to the story as much as possible? Mostly the whoring out thing. The JRPG stuff I can maybe deal with
  10. As the resident official translator of many popular moege, are Nekonyan deserving of their high praise? Find out in this documentary-like retrospective video.
  11. Almost every beginner visual novel guide has story, gameplay, and western original visual novels. What about for people who want to try that slice of life genre? In this video, I'll provide 10 moege options for those new to the genre.
  12. Ah yes the reusing the same gags for 10-15 hours straight, best way to flesh out the story
  13. I think some visual novels which SHOULD be masterpieces end up at least partially brought down by being too long and in turn bad pacing. In this video I want to show what I consider good and bad pacing in visual novels.
  14. Just as an FYI, I did a part 2 with 50 more visual novel heroines and added it's to the original topic content
  15. I tended to indirectly put piracy with the visual novels. Don't sell well enough thing
  16. You ever wondered why we still have a lot of visual novels without translations? Based on talks with people in the industry, watching the community, and analysis, here are 7 reasons why we don't have MORE VN translations:
  17. I've seen various 'What Your Favorite X Says About You' videos. I figured I tried my hand at a visual novel character version. 50 Visual Novel Heroines; If you're a fan of any of these, expect to potentially get roasted. EDIT: Made a Part 2
  18. It's been a while since I've done a visual novel publisher history retrospective video. This time I'm going to do Shiravune: a relatively newer publisher with quite the catalogue. Thanks to @TheLocalWeeb for editing!
  19. I previously made a tutorial on Erogamescape, aka Japan's version of vndb. I'm going to take things to the next level and show the Japanese fanbase's visual novel opinions: The top 5 rated visual novels for 30 of the most popular VN developers on EGS. 20. Last time I did a top 100 Character video was back in late 2020. I've since read a decent amount of VNs and have a bunch of notable updates to make. I also got excellent editor @thelocalweeb1016 to make this look as good as possible!
  21. There's always been a debate on if machine translation is worth using for visual novels. In this video, I'm going to use Sanoba Witch's official translation and compare it with DeepL attempting to machine translate the same scene.
  22. Have you wondered who were the most popular visual novel characters from a certain visual novel, series, company, or even from a whole year? This video will highlight some notable online popularity polls done by Japanese developers.
  23. Kunado Chronicles has a unique post-apocalyptic setting, interesting societal customs, and ongoing fight against the Tekki aka sentinet corrupted machines. Seeing the Kotodama back from Amatsutsumi, and a blend of interesting genres like action and character development drama was nice to see. This review covers my thoughts on the most recently released Purplesoft visual novel in the west. Huge thank you to @Shiravune for providing me a review copy for this video!
  24. Renai Royale Love's A Battle. ASa Project is defined by their goofy, degenerate, and stupid over the top comedy, sometimes called bakage. This VN emphasizes a high school love harem battle royale. Ultimate Boob Wars. One of the few nukiges I openly like. The setting alone is hilarious and much of dialogue is funny too. The H scenes are fine but weren't the big draw.
