  1. Winter in real life and Winter in VNs as well. I actually like Winter based game levels in general too.
  2. Steam is launching "Steam China" as an almost separate software, kinda like how Battlenet has a special version just for china. A chinese company by the name of Perfect World will be responsible for making sure the chinese steam remains PRC compliant. So these news wont affect Western Steam. Source: https://www.theverge.com/2018/6/11/17451484/steam-china-announced-valve-perfect-world PS: i hate the verge, but this article explains it very succinctly.
  3. Ok, so the overuse of "rolf/lol" isnt out of place. I had zero context when seeing screenshots of this Kanae character. For a moment when looking at it the first time i had flashbacks of Neptunia's Nick Doerr type of translation, so forgive me if i look at the usage of "memes" and "internet slang" with suspicious eyes.
  4. Hey folks, due to the recent influx of uncensored VNs on Steam, i thought i would pick one up during the halloween, i was interested in Sanoba Witch, but while browsing the internet for info on it i came across screenshots like this: So now i am wondering if the translation of this VN is any good or they just heavily "americanized" it? Or is this (somehow) the actual translation for this character? Please do share opinions on it, i am on fence about buying it.
  5. I actually bought this VN 2 days ago. Compared to the fan translation, is it bad? Should i actually ask for a refund? I havent touched it yet, but i heard SP has promised to fix the typos and untranslated lines with a patch, do you guys know if they are usually good on their word?
  6. As far as i am aware, yes, porn is legal here. I mean we do have a few official brazilian porn studios here (inb4 snarky brazilian shemale porn comment, yes i reckon the industry here is mostly known for that kind of porn)0. I havent looked up if hentai and the japanese stuff is legal or not, but i am almost 100% sure theres no distinction between it and other kinds of porn. Little factoid i got reminded of, the bakery/grocery store that i used to walk by everyday during my school years had playboy (and other brands as well) magazines on display on its front entrance, despite said bakery only having a very small stand of readable material on sale (mostly newspapers and comic books).
  7. I am from Brazil and never had such problems (bought a few games from Mangagamer and Denpasoft), but then again, prostitution itself is legal here (but pimping isnt, so our laws tecnically protect freelance prostitutes ) and we really dont care about porn. Honestly, i feel like people can become way too paranoid with this stuff, the chances of you getting into trouble with this are less than getting yourself involved with a plane crash on a flight travel. Trust me, there are far "worse" illicit things that also get a free pass within Paraguay (and brazil as well), like smuggling (of all kinds, including PC hardware).
  8. Btw, i replied in basically every thread conserning the +18 content. Whoever goes to the forum, will see all the flak its getting Also, bought both Hoshizora and Dal Segno, those publishers at least dont screw us over.
  9. To be fair, it seems just read alot of rather angsty venting. I mean, i am grateful for the guy and all, but one of the first rules of (software) development is to not get overly defensive and protective of what you made, especially when opensource/hacks/unofficial mods/etc its stuff like this. I mean, the folks on steam have the right to try to fix that garbage release, right? Why he gets so angry at those guys if he doesnt even care about the Steam release at all. The guy has to let his ego aside in cases like this, otherwise your just gonna get frustrated, even if whoever uses your stuff makes a complete mess of it, in the end, you just politely ask him to either remove it or at least include your name in the credits. Easier said than done, of course, i been in his position regarding stuff i worked with.
  10. Hoshizora No Memoria came out yesterday and its selling more than SFOF. Is it fair to compare? Hoshizora had the whole kickstarter to begin with, but then again, i was quite suprised that the kickstarter even got as much $$$ as it did for such a old VN getting re-translated (and getting its fandisc). All in all, even if you dont trust Steamspy or think 500 or 1000 sales make that much of a diference, i think its quite clear at this point that SFOS didint sell well, not even by "high quality, big publisher" standards. By "high quality" i mean the original work, not the localization hackjob. If anything, i feel like SFOS's release perfectly shows that people are displeased with their policy, other publishers, with lesser (in production quality) VNs managed to outsold SFOF.
  11. I dunno how that can be "useless" We dont work with extremes, we work with averages. Your aware we can clearly see the growth of the game, right? Its not that it gets reliable depending on how many it has sold, its how much time as passed since a great wave of purchases of a given title, the numbers get more reliable as time moves on. Right now, a Sky Full of Stars is sitting at: "1,595 ± 1,179" So we can guess around 2200ish copies, since the margin of error is decreasing and only 200 units were added. But in time we will have better numbers (gotta wait after christmas sales). But anyhow, You think thats a success? thats already worse than a fandisc that costed 35USD, while SFOS costs 15 bucks. The point isnt exactly calculating how many copies were sold... you think 2000 or even 3000 copies are anything compared to If My Heart Had Wings's 15.000+ purchases that happened on its first weeks? SFOS is, without a shadow of doubt, a pathetic (in terms of $$$) release when compared to IMHHW.
  12. Steamspy has come a long way from its beginnings. The margin of error now is shown on the site, so you know around how many units the game might have sold. Thats enough for the purposes we are want here, both their new VN and Ghostlight's new game, Omega Quintet, have had very crappy revenue due to poor publisher reputation. A Sky Full of Stars sold about 1.345 + or - 1.300 units on Steam, thats a pathetic number, considering even Princess Evangile's fandisc sold about about 1700 + or - 1200 on its first week. Again, thats a new game versus a fandisc, with the fandisc costing more than double the price. If My Heart Had Wings only sold as much as it did because it was one of the FIRST VNs on Steam + cheap price, alot of people jumped on it back then.
  13. Never heard it with the "at". My experience comes mostly from movies or games tho.
  14. For a non-american, its worse since i have to indirectly pay shipping for 2 international shippings + brazilian tax. I bought things from japan and its usually FAR cheaper than importing from the US. For some reason US international shipping prices are almost 2x what i pay to import from japan. I kid you not, that final price on buying that physical edition is literally around 60 BRL (brazilian reais) short of me buying a brand new Nvidia 1050GTX GPU. Funnily enough, when the game goes to Steam, its regional price will be lower than what the kickstarter is asking for, which is ironic, since KS should be cheaper than buying on release. Is the drama CD even subtitled? Not being able to get it is rather frustrating. I guess i will just settle just for the Fandisc then. EDIT: i actually read that it was just 60USD, if its 120USD, then not only i can buy me a new GPU but i can also probably buy a new AAA game on steam to go with that GPU! Import fees & shipping costs are brutal
