you sure love using those harsh words, eh? dunno if it´s intended or just poorly/unlucky worded, but i think the statement as a whole comes across a lot more negative then it probably should. regarding sakurasakura, it´s solpress´s 1st project, and in retrospect they simply shouldn´t have made any release estimates public. on the other hand, if they hadn´t been working on upscaling things & other technical whatnot, people also would´ve complained upon release, like you know those ever nagging hd-ultra fetishists, giving a fuck about actual plot as long as all is shiny. btw you using the term "untrustworthy" here is also no good. not wanting to whiteknight them, but like mentioned it´s one project out of god knows how many + they´d been semi-regularly putting out weekly/monthly wrap-ups & did release a small bunch of products as of now.

& about frontwing milking their franchise, phantom trigger being a whole new series aside, which company really isn´t? not to mention them also releasing other titles along the lines, 3rd party and own. doesn´t really make sense to me

    Newton and the Apple Tree
    Summary
"'Newton' was actually the pen name of a brilliant-minded girl!?"

Protagonist Syuji Asanaga and his childhood friend Yotsuko Utakane, while tracking down Syuji's missing grandfather, unexpectedly ended up traveling through time to the 17th century, a time known for exciting advances in scientific discovery. What they witnessed upon their arrival was the presence of a single girl right in front of them. This particular girl would go on to be dubbed as the father of modern-day science, Sir Isaac Newton!

That’s correct, Newton turned out to be a small, flat-chested girl!

Unaware of this, Syuji loudly crashed into the apple tree right in front of the girl. "You do realize that I was just on the verge of making the most groundbreaking discovery, don't you!?"
It was at the moment our main couple traveled through time, right then and there, that Newton discovered universal gravitation!

And just like that, through Syuji's witless conduct, the great scientific discoveries of that century had all crumbled to ashes. What's more, like the domino effect, this would gradually end up altering key points in history.

Now taking up residence at the prestigious English university called "Tenbridge University," Syuji finds himself pulled into the antics of four strange girls (and Yotsuko).
In the midst of all this chaos, will Syuji ever be able to rectify history and return to the present!?
Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order
The game follows a single continuous plot that eventually leads to the final route, but has a number of choices along the way which branch off into different routes. The recommended reading order is to read each route as they branch off chronologically: Yotsuko > Lavi > Lavi Again > Haru > Emmy > Alice
Lavi's route always needs to be read once before any other bar Yotsuko's.
If you have the 18+ patch, which can be found at Panty Press, finishing a route unlocks extra H-Scenes in the 'Special' menu.
Finishing the game unlocks 'Continue+' also in the Special menu.

    Walkthrough
In choices marked with 'Your Choice', please choose what comes naturally. Sometimes choices will lead nowhere and you will have to repeat until you get the correct one.

    Yotsuko

    Lavi

    Haru

    Emmy

    Trample on Schatten!! Restoration Patch

    | VNDB | Buy the game from JAST here | Download the patch here |

    What does our patch do?
Our patch restores all the cut content from JAST’s release of Trample on Schatten!! We put back in cut voice acting, CGs, text, BGM, cut-ins — the list goes on. JAST only removed one scene, but putting everything back into the game was a real pain in the arse, which is why it took us so long.

    How to install the patch
Info on how to install the patch can be found in "Readme.txt" in the patch directory
    But, if you are lazy:

    Credit
    Translation: Arata
    Hacking/Technical Support: Src_
Editing & other important work: Anonymous soldiers from The Order of Restoration
    Demosaicing: Helvetica Standard
(While the standard patch uses the original artist's decensored CGs, we had Helvetica decensor the mosiaced CGs for us at the start of the project, not knowing decensored files existed in the JAST version of the game. As such, we felt it would be wrong not to credit Helvetica in this post. We are working on a second patch which uses these decensored files, so his work is not in vain. We will update the post with a second patch using his CGs, and you can all decide which one you think looks the best.)
(Check out Helvetica's patreon if you like his work.)

My bad. My simple brain knows nothing but translation. Technical mumbo jumbo goes over my head. The files were indeed still present in the game. Getting it all out and back in again was a real pain though. We did have Helvetica decensor the images for us since we didn't know the assets were hidden in JAST's release. I have been informed by the tech guys that we did not end up using Helv's work, though. So the files in the patch aren't Helvetica's work but the original decensor from the original artist.
Still, Helvetica helped us out a ton with doing the decensor in the first place, so it only feels right crediting him, though I will change the post so that it correctly reflects what the patch contains. I'll ask the tech guys if we can make a second patch where we use Helv's work, and we will leave a comparison somewhere so people can see which CGs they want.

Well, the thing is... not everyone thinks this is the "best VN ever made". People have different tastes. Even ignoring the horrible Steam description that does a poor job selling the game, Subahibi is not a game for everyone, for many reasons. It doesn't appeal to the Steam crowd at all. It doesn't matter how great you say it is, I can't see someone that plays VNs mainly for moe anime waifus and ecchi ever thinking this is a masterpiece, even if they do end up buying it.

Just finished the game. Enjoyed the MC, fights, and music. It is unique that the MC had a voice which really help express his emotions. Also like the scene selection system with the multiple POVs.
Plenty of twists and turns throughout the story and while there was a lot of comedy there were lot of dark moments too. Probably the most glaring weakness are the sub heroine routes since they are very quick. Also there are a bunch of terms that are thrown at you, mainly Jungian psychology stuff, but it explains it well enough for the most part.
Overall, it is a pretty good game, although it is too bad the company that made it went bankrupt. I would've liked to see more games like this.

    Summary:
    Lucid dreams.

Dreams where you know that you're dreaming.

After an accident in his youth, Tooru Naitou began to have nothing but lucid dreams. Always being aware of when he's dreaming meant that his mind could no longer rest when he was asleep. Only when he collapsed from utter exhaustion does he finally get a reprieve.

Lucky for him, he has a childhood friend, Saki, who insists on calling him 'Nii-san' that tries to do what she can to support him. In his science club, his senpai Yayoi is endlessly amused by his awkward way of living. And he has an underclassman, Keiko, who likes to sing in front of the station and likes to call him weird for his less than normal attitude towards life.

Tonight, Tooru dreams again. But this dream is different from those that came before.

I'm so amazingly hyped. Our website got a review key for this and I am so stoked to play this. I expect a chuuni-fest for a chuunilover like me.
The NTR-Tag doesn't make me feel right, but I already read a bunch of NTR Stories this morning so I am prepared for the worst!
The plotline sounds a little flat, but I am sure the fighting and action will make up for it!

Canicheslayer reacted to Clephas in Is there a fine line between a moege and a charage?
I've explained this before, but most charage fall under the much larger 'moege' umbrella.  Where this is confusing you is probably references to the term 'pure moege' vs 'charage'.
To be a moege, all you need is for the game to be filled with visuals and character mannerisms in the moe style (for old examples, gobi like 'uguu~', character archetypes like the classic tsundere).  To be a 'pure moege', you need this to be the primary content of the game (minimal character development, no strong central plot, character interactions based solely upon surface character qualities born of the archetype in question, etc).  A charage, on the other hand, will have more involved character development (as you get to know the heroines, their personalities become more complex, you learn about their pasts, their flaws, etc), and there is often a heroine-centric plot in each heroine path that provides at least a bare-bones framework for the romantic parts.

Canicheslayer reacted to Ranzo in Is there a fine line between a moege and a charage?
I think Charage's have some sort of driving plot even if it is minuscule and barely referenced.
Moege on the other hand just rips up the plot and tosses you into some hotel or academy with five or seven women like you are some sort of sacrificial goat.

    I just finished Crescendo
It was good, though a little bit short. With some after-credits epilogues it would be much better, but still I enjoyed it.
First I went with Kaho/Kyoko route (Kaho's ending, Kyoko's ending and then neutral ending). It was OK, from that pair I think I liked Kyoko's route more.
Kaho's part of the route was also good.
And even so-called "bad ending" for this route wasn't really bad, it is more of "normal/neutral" ending, and actually has rather happy feeling to it as well.
That route was your typical school romance story. The other three get much heavier. Yuka's route is probably the best in whole VN. She does rather bad first impression - so I felt about her the same as protagonist did. But when you enter her route, prepare yourself for a ride... I don't want to spoil the whole story. Probably most emotional moment in this route for me was
And then at the end there's hidden Miyu's route, that hits hard with some KeyMagicTM - the ending actually made me cry.
    ***
The game looks good. I had to get used to art style - those eyes looked weird at the beginning, but after a while it was OK, and the girls were really beautiful. It actually looked better than screenshots on VNDB - I'm not sure why is it like that. Backgrounds are nice too. There were two CGs where bodies defied laws of physics (or some parts were badly dislocated )
Other than that - no complaints.
I really liked the music - it set the mood well. For some reason, it reminded me of Katawa Shoujo. I know that music in KS is actually different, but I got similar feelings.
Localization could use some more editing - it was readable, but there were lots of awkward phrases. And it suffers from siimilar bug as Kazoku Keikaku - there is one missing line in Miyu's route, where there's voice but no text at all.
Overally - good, although I wish it was a bit longer. 8/10
I'm not sure what to read next. Maybe I'll take short break from VNs waiting for summer Steam sale, and then get Clannad and Symphonic Rain.
