To stay on a sad note, I propose Steins;Gate 0 (a good part of the game seems to be in December) OR (to return to something more joyful) maybe...Snow Sakura.

Canicheslayer got a reaction from mitchhamilton in What kind of ending structure do you prefer?
For VNs with romance, I prefer to choose my own true end (my waifu(s)). Definitely, with a few exceptions (G-senjou no Maou), I am often disappointed when it is imposed (Kira☆Kira, Clannad,  Tsujidou-san no Jun'ai Road, Da Capo 3, Ayakashibito...).

Saki's route was cool  For the rest of the VN, it was not bad or uninteresting...but it was not great either (apart from saki, the heroines were not very endearing or memorable).
Edit : I forgot this, this and that.

Remember 11? Turn your heater off and play by candlelight for best immersion.
Edit: Actually don't play that. It's kinda despair inducing.

The "heartwarming storyline" requirement makes it quite hard. I'd love to just drop Swan Song in there if i could.

Seconding this. The bitter nature of Swan Song seems fitting for such a cold and harsh season like Winter. Experience the cruelty of reality that's Swan Song as you watch the snow falls on your precious yard, forcing you to shovel snow again and again, all in a futile effort.

We're going to be running a poll on http://fuwanovel.se/  next week on the best VNs to read on a cold winter day, much like the one we did on Halloween VNs. Anything with a cold setting and a heartwarming storyline. If you have any VN suggestions to add to the list please let me know! Not every VN will make it onto the poll, but we'll also have a curated list of community suggestions listed with the poll results.

Canicheslayer reacted to Dreamysyu in How do you rate your VNs?
    Quoting myself from this thread:
The only thing that changed since then is that I decided to start using half-integers again for the cases where none of the integer ratings feel appropriate.

Canicheslayer reacted to sarkasmus in Sony New Censorship Of Everything
Appearently Sony is getting even worse now (I haven't found an official statement from Sony, so there's a small probability of a bad translation or a mistake but the news seem legit):
-All communications and submissions between game companies and Sony are now filtered through their California branch, in English -- not just the censorship, any complaints about the censorship now have to go through the team performing the censorship.
-Visual Novel porting to Playstation is now prohibited outright, those that were already in production before the policy change happened will be allowed, but must be heavily censored.
-Sony has ended the policy of allowing publishers to use the "local rating system" but instead must use the full "Western Standard." In other words, instead of allowing Japanese published games in Japan to use the CERO rating system, all games on Playstation must adhere to ESRB, no matter where they're published.

Canicheslayer reacted to NowItsAngeTime in Interest-wise, what part of the VN community would you say you're the most part of?
Now of course it's possible to be part of multiple but I think in the end we have all of our favorites.
Feel free to choose any I didn't point out but this is my idea of the various subtypes of the VN community can be divided into: People who mostly read VNs that have any type of story. No Charages, moeges. Conversely, the people who basically mostly stick to charages or even moeges (or just for the waifus) The people who only read in Japanese no matter what People who mostly stick to a very specific genre of series like Mystery ones, or Otome/BL People who mostly read VNs for the H scenes People who mostly stick to Original English Visual Novels/EVNs People who mostly create Visual Novels
For example, while I do try to read a variety of VNs, these days I mostly stick to charage/moege, and of course the H stuff...

Sanoba Witch is the story of a guy with an unnatural ability and a for once plot integral personality. Doomed to live with his depression, he squanders his youth until one day, he comes across atruly outrageous scene, leading him into the world of magic!
Have fun figuring out how the magic works, because the rules change in every route, enjoy random technical difficulties and observe the most shocking plot twist off all: Mizuhashi Kaori almost stayed in character the entire time. Almost.

Okay, I'm done. This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I would say Meguru has the worst route, Touko the best and Nene the most interesting and memorable. Tsumugi might be the route I would recommend reading first to anyone going in blind, because it probably establishes the most "lore".
Wakana was a better Deardrops side-route than the actual Deardrops side routes. Out of the three translated Yuzusoft titles we have, it's fair to call this the best not-full-heroine-route.

Canicheslayer reacted to Dreamysyu in Sol Press 2019 Licensing Survey
Considering that it's aimed at people who don't speak Japanese, they probably shouldn't have asked for the links from Amazon JP for LNs and manga. I accidentally entered a few links to the manga adaptations of LNs instead of the LNs themselves, so I had to revote.

Where exactly? I need to move there asap.
I remember saying this earlier in some other topic... As much as I like bashing religion and finding things to blame it for, I honesty don't think the sexual taboo originates within the Christian dogma. Sure, Christianity strongly  incorporates this repudiation against sexuality, but so do other unrelated religions and cultures throughout the globe, each in their own degree. After all, most peoples exhibit at the very least the shyness to cover up their bodies. Something must be going on in our psyches that's just deeper than "it's just a culturally adquired custom". Of course it still doesn't make any sense, so we should know better than blindly following our instincts.

On their panel they just announced Irotoridori no Sekai. Really interesting seeing it getting an official localization would have expected it from Nekonyan or SP instead though. Other than that they also announced Hitotsu Yane no, Tsubasa no Shita de and Mirai Radio to Jinkou-bato

Canicheslayer reacted to zxdvas in I have lost faith in VN
I used to believe VN's power to change a person, that it encourages bravery, fosters temperance, develops optimism. But after some unfavourable circumstances in life I realised VN has not made me a better person, neither mentally nor culturally. I can enjoy a great story but my life is still boring. I can appreciate interesting characters but I am still abhorred. I started to ask myself if VN cannot change life, is there still a reason to read them? The question haunts me everytime. Keep in mind I had faith in VN and it is no mere entertainment.
At times I think this is all a useless sentiment, that I was naive to believe things are more than what they are. Just as the bible is just a book to non-christian, no more no less (don't take this comparison too serious, I am in no mood to debate). As a final judgement, I have to ask if anyone believe in the power of VN to change life. It is afterall futile in believing what no one else believes.

    Summary
Yuuma is a second year student at the prestigious public school Hoshioka Gakuen. It is known for offering a fulfilling school life, but he has yet to experience love and spends his days lacking any satisfaction. He hasn’t made any progress with his classmates nor his osananajimi. All he can do is look at his love interest, the student council leader Midori, from a distance.

One day, he saw her with a troubled face. It seemed that the remaining members of the school cafeteria improvement committee had resigned. After giving it some thought, he volunteered to lead the committee. After that fateful moment, his surroundings became a lot more lively and before long, his first love had blossomed.
