Set Windows locale to japanese. Locale Emulators don't work with this game.

Nah, first response was correct.
They initially found a 38yo patient with an abnormal pnemumonia that wasn't reacting to any known remedies, a nurse went againts useless WHO protocols (only people linked to China should have been tested and other dangerous restrictions) and insisted to test him tor covid19, they eventually tested him and found the first case.
Then they fucked off who protocols and started to do mass testing to anyone around him, found out the first clusters of the infection and put in place a few but very restricted quarantinized ares with almost china level quarantine.
Then... They suddenly decided those measures were too scary for the people, the denyal phase started, mass testing was stopped, bullshit like "it's only the flu" started to spread, everything went downhill fast.

You folks are talking about a mass move by Japanese VN developers toward mobage like it's a hypothetical, but from what I understand, it's pretty much a fait accompli. A large number of VN developers have already tried (and/or are currently trying) their hand at mobage. You just haven't heard much about it here since they've all have failed miserably thus far, aside from Type-Moon. So it's a bit late to be worried about that coming to suck away the attention paid to VNs—we're already in that boat.
To bring this somewhat back on topic... VN loc companies are similarly looking all around for ways to stay/become profitable. There are only two real strategies I've seen almost all of them employing, at this point: China, and console releases. For China: if you have a license for a worldwide release, why not sell to a market that actually has consistently shown they're willing to pay for VNs, enough to fund a localization effort? It's certainly profitable. For console: Switch ports seem to be profitable, maybe? Though I don't have as clear a picture on that, and there aren't a lot of data points yet. But you can look at lackluster games like Root Letter getting huge sales numbers on consoles and realize, oh yeah, there's probably something there if you play your cards right.
Now, neither of those is going to do the vast majority of people on this board much good, since we're mostly 1) not Chinese readers and 2) looking for 18+ content. As long as English 18+ release sales remain low (for whatever reasons, including but not limited to high rates of piracy), the only hope most of us have is that the VN loc companies both expand in some way that lets them make money (China, console, and/or some other means) and continue to subsidize English versions with 18+ content from those profits out of pure passion for it. That is effectively what they're doing today. Denpasoft, JAST USA, and Nekonyan are all on the China boat (Nekonyan through the Hikari Field partnership), leaving only MangaGamer in the lurch. Denpasoft and MangaGamer, at least, are both doing the non-PC thing, though MangaGamer is taking a galaxy-brain approach where they vomited up a buggy android app and then promptly forgot about it. I'd say if MangaGamer doesn't get in on the Chinese market in some way within the next year or so, I'll eat my hat, except they're so slow-moving that maybe they'll just keep trickling away dollars forever...
Anyway, subsidizing 18+ English releases like this is honestly both risky (all kinds of legal exposure they could easily avoid by just, not doing it) and bad business (because it's throwing away money with no hope of return), but all these companies are doing it anyway. And yet somehow a lot of the vocal members of the VN community treat all of them as some evil enemy, most of the time. Sigh.

You're writing in vain. None of the companies you mentioned give a shit about us.
Also... Fruitbat is not the one who fucked up Noratoto. It was Harukaze that decided to do the console version instead of adult one. Most titles that Fruitbat localized are all-ages to begin with.

MG fucked up the Hapymaher translation worse than Sekai fucked up the Chrono Clock translation, and at least Sekai knows that Chrono Clock had issues, whereas nobody but me seems to be bitching at MG for their absolute butchery of Hapymaher. I know the people slated to do Amatsutsumi and I have every confidence it's going to come out great; meanwhile, it would've been the same team from Hapymaher butchering Amatsutsumi on the MG side. SP getting it is great news.

Since it's only 10 days before AX, I think it would be appropriate if I'm open the thread about it. As for the schedule, you can see it below under the spoiler.
In case you'd have a hard time to adjust the time, it's Los Angeles time and it's timezone was at GMT -7.
Since we'll probably will going to have a lot of announcements, I'll probably either put the announcements in the spoiler box or just link it to the post that contain the announcements. For my comment here, I think we already know that Denpa here would be announced all of 18+ version of Sekai announcement if Sekai decided to announce a VN that did have 18+ contents censored, and occasionally some original announcements so we can treat Denpa and Sekai announcements as one for the most part. Mangagamer curiously only have one announcement planned according to their announcement page, although we may have sudden announcement from them like back at last year AX though. No much comment from both of Fakku and Aksys seeing that most probably their announcement would be nukige and sci-fi respectively, although I wonder though what Sol Press will bring to the table here.
I guess that's all for what I can say now, and I'll bump this if AX is started or whenever there's an announcement (Duh).

Well there is the TB disc, dunno if it can be considered as such, since optical discs, while in disuse, are not there yet.

Its not as clear cut and black and white that we can say porn is porn. Regular porn has no story, vn's are usually story based with a touch of porn. It should never have been porn in the first place, just descriptions or softcore porn to keep it in line with the rest of the vn. Shy girls turning into absolute sluts, som3what jealous mc not wanting other men seeing his girl in swimsuits etc just to furiously bang said chick completely nude in the open saying stuff like "it doesnt matter if we get caught" etc a while later. Stuff like that completely breaks both characters and the flow of the story. I wish the writers were a bit more mindful of the story context being regarded in h scenes as well.

Sadly, porn is porn. It's always oriented towards maximum visibility, with length and sequences focused on giving you a good fap rather than expressing something meaningful or staying true to the characters. That's why I think it's a damn shame there's so few softcore/17+ VNs with non-explicit erotic segments. Hentai as a formula is simply not compatible with having realistic/story-oriented sex scenes and in most cases, even the developers and writers of VNs don't pretend they aren't tacked-on fanservice.
