I was able to run this VN under WinXP virtual machine, so it's probably about your OS.
By the way I agree the artwork does look good, but the game itself is pretty bad and probably not worth all the trouble with WinXP.

I'm pretty sure "kuse" means "peculiarity" in this case, so the whole sentence means something like "I should go with something safe for the first time", i.e. "something with low peculiarity". I presume he's making this tea for someone else, and trying to please the other party.

The teapot. It's a proper way to make tea - first you warm up the teapot, then you put in leaves. Refer to p.2 here, for example.

One should never stop learning, but by the time I was reading Eustia I managed to understand ~98% of it.

Aya is the most boring of all heroines, don't force yourself to read her route (and devs knew this too, that's why she doesn't have a route in the second game)
 
Too bad you didn't like the structure of this game - I think it's the best for plot-driven VNs.



By the way, Eustia and Akagoei-2 are the only two VNs I rated 10/10

The first one was okay, the second was very good and the ending was epic. Can't waint for the final game.

I recommend: Eustia (my fav VN ever), Corona, Soukoku and Shikigami if you don't mind gameplay, Soranica if you're okay with heroine-oriented game instead of strong plot, and Primary if you're okay with the art and tons of moe.
Edit: almost forgot about Drapeko – haven't finished this yet (2 chapters left), but it's probably the closest thing to what you're looking for.
