novurdim got a reaction from Mr Poltroon in NekoNyan, New Localization Company from Saku Saku Translation Team
Well, I brought it up myself, but I do think you are overreacting a bit. SukaSuka's and Hoshimemo's weren't nearly as bad as Libra's translation. I daresay that if Libra had a translation like those two, it would be deemed absolutely passable for the first release and we wouldn't have any serious debacle about Mikandi.

Well, after reading chuee's amusing ranting, I'm pretty sure the translation will be shaky at best, but probably nothing we can't handle.
Though with a name like that, it's unlikely they will ever localise anything even remotely "serious", sigh.

Let's test this theory.
"Sister complex" and "Brother complex" were added to the article on 10:09, 4 October 2017 by 2601:6c4:4001:2af0:c552:121a:8b38:ec8a; a user without an account. This is their only edit on record. Since then, the page has not been edited or revised by anyone except bots and other users without an account. Sister and brother complex are neither cited nor are they mentioned in any of the citations on the page. Thus, it can be concluded that it is likely that this information is erroneous and will be revised when an expert reviews the article.
For a further bit of confirmation, I researched for academic studies containing the exact terms "brother complex" and "sister complex"; I found little to none that dealt with psychology rather than biological sciences (where sister complex and compounds are terms completely unrelated to what is being discussed here).
The only relevant mention I could find was in Normal and obsessional jealousy: a study of a population of young adults by Donatella Marraziti et al. This paper contained "Freud [9] suggested that jealousy was rooted in the Oedipus or “brother and sister” complex".
From all of this, I can conclude that "brother complex" and "sister complex" are unheard of within psychology. The only mention I could uncover referred to them as an alternate name for the Oedipus complex, which would actually be quite misleading considering that particular complex refers to affections towards one's parents and jealousy towards siblings. Though related, it is quite different from the meaning of the original phrase "siscon".
I hope that helps clear things up.

In real life? About two times more often than siscon which is but a speech parasite from a foreign language and not a hard scientific term you weird men make it out to be.
If we seriously discuss such a ridiculous topic then in a light joyful conversation "sister enthusiast" would even be much closer to the actual meaning of the collocation than "siscon". It's hard to say anything without a context but even if we follow your made up dogma, the
would sure look weirder in a joke than a lovely sister enthusiast which has quite an obvious meaning.

Honestly, it's almost the same as asking if Linkoln really fought vampires like in the movie.

novurdim got a reaction from Beichuuka in Do you think Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai will be done by this year?
Exactly the answer I expected. No, I'm absolutely not entitled, he made himself responsible before the community as a whole and not me personally, even your "free" actions have their price and your good intentions can bring harm when your moral compass doesn't really work. Noone else will try to translate it when you do, many people become depressed from time to time because of the lack of closure etc etc. Negative connotations are obvious and when you can alleviate them by literally spending ten minutes of your precious time then you're obviously in the wrong. The fact that he's such a nice guy who maybe decided to work on the game for free only means that noone can demand any kind of result from him, not that he's free from any moral obligation of going public.

Of course he has to tell when he's dropping a finished translation or he shouldn't have made it public to begin with. The only time when you have no responsibilities in a society is when you have no influence over other people and community. Though if you want to argue an exact word then maybe "owing" is not really the right one, it's more a question of a basic human decency. Do you "owe" anyone to not be an ashhole? No, not really. Is it still important to not be one in a society? Absolutely.

novurdim reacted to voidpointer in moenovel is releasing "A sky full of stars"
If I understood his post, he's just trying to say that offering the all-ages and 18+ variations of a game is objectively a win-win. Trying to find a boundary between "what is and isn't expected to be censored" is highly subjective and you still end up with unhappy people no matter which position you choose on that matter.
I'm personally in agreement with the former (offer all variations; let customers decide). I'd rather have that than someone trying to over-analyze what is/isn't suitable for this market (not insinuating you in this case; IMHO the problem is more broad than the argument we're having in this thread).
Ultimately what MoeNovel is currently doing doesn't matter. I've had to say the same thing to folks getting upset over the EA loot box fiasco. If you don't like what a company is doing, don't buy their shit. It's the only way we're going to get them to change, no matter how many threads we start on Fuwanovel about it (although I will admit, I do like an outlet to complain, especially when I feel the situation won't change in the long term).
