For folks skeptical/worried about future releases, the upcoming localization of Volume 2 just got rather quietly announced on twitter:
And I'm here to tell you, there's no coincidence the ratings for volume 2 are consistently a lot higher than those for volume 1. Volume 1 can be a bit slow at times and in the end doesn't feel like it accomplishes much (presumably because it's the intro volume), but volume 2 constantly kicks all kinds of ass.

This is pretty weird indeed, who disabled an edit button.
Well, as I mentioned above, this is a pretty poor and unfounded speculation so I wouldn't just blame Favorite for the expensive goals, there are dozens of variables.
Yes, this is why I brought it up in the first place. I know you are speaking extremely hypothetically but we should live in the present. It means that we either get VNs like this officially or don't get them at all. The only person who could, in theory, decently fan-translate IroSeka has founded NekoNyan. Nowadays you won't get fan-translations of the publishers who already dabble in the western market no matter how long you wait, unless it's some miracle release like Baldr Force, for the few exceptions readable fan-translations are basically dying out and that's actually a good thing. Saying that it "should have been fan translated for free because I think Favorite asks too much money" is just so senseless that I couldn't keep my mouth shut. I do regret the impulse already, I know this won't get me anywhere.

I have very mixed feelings about the "dude" one, do we seriously have to make such a horrible localization choice (that can only be adequately used in the extremely rare occasions) mainstream... God help us.

Well, I may have painted too grim of a picture, the sales have surely grown a lot compared to, say, 2010-2012, and we do get a lot more localizations in the latest years (and even some big shots) since West is now considered a real market. So yeah, on the positive side we have come a long way and do live in a comparatively great age. We even have a chance to gripe about some of the best eroges not selling as much as we hoped they would. My 2010 self would surely slap me for being too depressive.

Because Sony doesn't have regional pricing and PS games in Rus are often even more pricey than in US somehow. And they still sell, russian distributors aren't bankrupt, Russia is still a relatively important market to Sony, a lot of games are dubbed in russian. Same with Nintendo. If you have it that bad then I sympathize with your situation but your generalized descriptions are extremely over the top, some are borderline crazy. I don't earn as much when compared to some of my peers and still can afford console games and VNs on a regular basis. It's like you are talking about Burundi (and I am very sorry for being rude to burundians).
Can't say I'm very active in any communities but from what I see they are generally the same for both russian- and english-speaking crowds. True, VNs aren't exactly very popular in Russia but it's not like VNs are often officially translated in any other language than english or chinese for obvious reasons. And it's not because they are too expensive, they are just not popular enough, it's a very niche entertainment. There are still some decent jp-rus fan-translators who are clearly loved by the people, have literally never seen anyone running around blaming them for the translation. What is that even supposed to mean? Like that guy on twitter who blames eng translations for tainting his kamiges? lol
I'm not sure what was your point and by now I don't even know why I'm having this weird conversation. But I do recommend you to stop this whole "you are all so rich, i'm so shocked noone bought subahibi" shtick, it's uncomfortable to even look at.

If your monthly wage is 7500 rub then you really have much bigger problems than toxic community or anything else, it's a lot less than even the official minimum wage for the country. Who do you even have to work as to earn that little? Is that how horrible myths about "mother russia" are spread?

Ya know, it's completely fine to complain about the english scene even if you simply have no desire to learn the language right now, loving VNs and not learning yet another lang to read them are not contradictory things in the slightest. Ridiculous that people even have to make excuses why they don't learn japanese yet every time some localization team fails at their job. The "time to learn japanese" meme is but a mockery at this point. Not many people would do something that demands such a serious dedication for the sake of light entertainment.
I actually had an interesting conversation on a similar topic with a friend who did manage to learn japanese after quite some time and now rarely reads visual novels. He says that since learning japanese takes quite a lot of effort for most people, in the end they start feeling that reading translated novels is something akin to cheating and get this perverse desire to force others go through the same things, make a serious effort to enjoy the medium. If they persevered why shouldn't the others just do the same? At first such logic sounded absurd but now I feel like some people at fuwa are dead set on proving his point to me

Do people on here get a kick out of telling people to learn Japanese? Like, I would love to learn Japanese, but having to study for college, working on days I don't have class, and then hanging out with friends when I get the time, only leaves very little time to even read VNs, let alone dedicate myself to learning hiragana, kanji, and katakana along with learning the grammar rules for spoken japanese. Not everybody can really dedicate the time to learn a new language. I mean, complaining about him complaining doesn't do much for anyone, including yourself.

Back to the original post, yeah a lot of things are in the works currently, I'm sure if you reread the current translation list, you'll find something being translated that you'll like.

I may not agree with everything but it looks like they are aiming for a translation that is at the same time good and caters to the target audience of the medium. Unfortunately, nowadays VN-translators are mostly former fan-translators who are very inspired by the fact that they are now being paid for their work. As a result they are thoughtlessly and often unsuccessfully trying to imitate the "professional work for the most mainstream audience" as if they are translating a new Final Fantasy game but their skill is yet to reach the level where they could do it seamlessly and without stubborn and jarring decisions on the way.
    Don't maul me.

Not at all, he is just very busy and hence translates, well, slowly. Which saddens me immensely when MG sometimes gives him games that are pretty long like Da Capo 3.
Just like every decent business also usually has release windows and timeframes, not simply announcing release dates a month or several weeks prior, you are completely missing the point.
I'm also tired of repeating that I'm not hating on MG, people always react painfully at these small personal opinions concerning the company. I love MG for what they've done for the scene and won't start hating on them without a reason even if someday they'll end up completely disregarding plotge/eroge in favor of nukige, otome, yuri and BL.
