  1. http://blog.2d-market.com/2016/02/2016-announcements-part-3-fatalpulse/ Seems like Fatalpulse is getting a few of his doujins licensed in English. Uncensored, too. My body is (hopefully) ready.
  2. I'd put off voting on most of the VNs on my list, so I'll have to wait a day to get the updated list. So far the top 3 tags are - Group Sex of one Female and Several Males - Philosophy - Doggy and the top 3 traits - Student Club Member - Popular - Stalking Bit of a curious result considering the VNs I had already voted on haha. The recommendations though are mostly things I've already been planning to read, so that part seems to be working well. Narcosis: For the average of votes to be 5, users would have to either choose the VNs they read completely randomly without taking their own tastes and recommendations by others into consideration, or adjust their votes so their average becomes 5. The former is obviously not happening, the latter is actively discouraged by the labeling next to the voting options. If you put some time into picking the VNs you read and unless you spend a real lot of time reading, the average VN you read won't be "so-so", certainly not "weak" and definitely not "bad" or "awful". It's gonna be at least "decent" or "good" as far as your subjective enjoyment is concerned. For that matter, how likely is someone to finish a longer novel that they'd rate "bad" or "awful"? I'd say there's a decent chance they'd simply drop it. Which means that unless they also vote on VNs they never actually finished, their opinion won't even be reflected in the overall rating. Thing is, all of that doesn't matter for VNStat's similar users function and, depending on how it's implemented, not much for the recommendations, either.
  3. There's not all that many I originally got from VNs since I'd already seen most things in H-Manga. VNs tend to restrict themselves to a somewhat narrower range of fetishes, anyway. - Guro, specifically gore/death without anything else added into the mix (like no eye penetration, for instance). Not sure if I should count this as a fetish considering the few instances I thought were actually hot pretty much all happened to be scenes with characters I cared about and would have rather not seen dying, so it was more "this is horrible... and kinda hot... but still horrible". - Burping. Now if we're including H-Manga, too, that's gonna be a somewhat longer list. Guess I might as well. - Evil or amoral girls (like the twins from Space Pirate Sara) - Femdom - Corruption - Futanari on Male/Pegging; Futanari in general, too - Smegma; also smell fetish and dirty stuff in general (like girl kissing guy after a blowjob) - Lolis - Traps/Shemales - Incest - Prostitution - Pregancy/Pregnant sex - Guro with a sexual component (eye penetration, brain fucking and such) - Guro/snuff in general with a female top - Yandere/Yangire - All the way through (with tentacles; actual impalement isn't my thing) - Ear/nose fucking, especially when coupled with corruption or mind break - Mind Break - Rape (especially with a female or trap top) - Nipple Fucking (and navel fucking, although the border to straight hilarity is rather thin with that one) - Drugs (aphrodisiacs, normal ones; also smoking) - Lactation - Yuri - Watersports - Scat (female/trap only, and then only sometimes) - Chubby girls (not outright fat) - Exhibitionism - Vore - Assimilation (like a girl slowly fusing with a tentacle monster) - NTR; also general promiscuity like swapping, group sex, ... - Monster girls - Bukkake - Asphyxiation (generally only in the context of blowjobs) - Vomiting - Bestiality - Abortion (thank 黒糖ニッケ for that one) - Monster birth/egg laying I left out ones that directly follow from ones I've already listed (like footjob/femdom or glory hole/prostitution), really common ones (double penetration, rimjob), clothing (I like yukata) and general physical attributes (loli with long black hair and white skin, heterochromia, and so on and so forth), otherwise the list would get ridiculously long.
  4. I'm not sure how much time I spent reading exactly, but I guess something like 20 hours. The plot is essentially linear, even more so than Alternative. There are some choices that lead to bad endings, but otherwise, the effect of the choices is limited to some differences in the dialogue directly following the choice.
  5. Read Schwarzesmarken: Kouketsu no Monshou. Somehow I missed the fact that it's a two-part VN, so I was a rather surprised by the sudden credits roll. Didn't really like the fact that despite the rather high number of choices you get, they don't really matter much in the end apart from the few bad endings you can get, but I guess that's kinda unavoidable with a two-part release. That's about the only bad thing I can say about this VN, though. Now to wait for the release date of Junkyousha-tachi to be announced. If you like VNs with a dark atmosphere, there's a good chance you'll like this one. Don't think you need to have read Muv-Luv Alternative to enjoy it, it's not really connected to it apart from the general setting. I guess you could watch an episode or two of the anime to see if you're interested in reading it; the VN is decidedly better, though. They had to compress it a lot to make it work as an anime.
  6. Kanjidamage is pretty useful if you want to learn vocabulary. But yeah, the very idea of "learning kanji" doesn't really make sense. Learning the various readings for a kanji won't help you much since you never know which particular reading is actually used in a given word without actually looking the word up in a dictionary. Personally, I've found the most effective way to increase reading proficiency is to just read a lot, look up the words you don't know, save them in a list and learn from that. That way, you learn the words in context, so you know how they're actually used.
  7. I'm not sure how much whether a different publisher has licensed a game from a particular company before matters anymore, considering cases like Flowers, or Key releasing some titles independently instead of through SP. At most, the chances for very high profile titles like Fate, or ones with existing EN translations (because MG doesn't do Kickstarter) are slim, so suggesting those is indeed kind of pointless. Suggesting a VN from a company MG has previously partnered with definitely has the highest chances of actually seeing the title licensed, but it's not like MG isn't pulling in new partners pretty regularly.
  8. Uh, I do actually read nukige. Meaning yes, I like reading them. I know I'm by far not the only one who does. Just because they're not your thing doesn't mean it's impossible for other people to like them. How do you think the Japanese companies who produce them make a profit? Certainly not from those who just download the CGs. I mean, I like good translations and I can't fathom why someone would read a machine translation. Or a horribly botched human translation, for that matter. And yet, there are unfortunately quite a few who will happily read those. In a way I guess it's not that surprising - eating shit is a fetish, too, after all. Well, I guess you're right about the story-focused VNs. But then if they sell poorly, no matter of votes on a poll is gonna help I'd think.
  9. There's probably a fair number of people that mainly or only buy nukiges. Not to mention being able to download H anime means very little if you prefer nukige over H anime. Plus, they don't necessarily actually vote for the VN they liked the most, rather than the VN the kind of which they want to see more licensed of. Meaning if someone, say, likes loli nukige, they might very well vote for that, even if they enjoyed a particular story VN more, simply because they can expect MG to license more of the latter in the future anyway.
  10. - Semiramis no Tenbin - Hapymaher - Tsuushinbo I've read Semiramis no Tenbin and liked it a lot. Considering Mangagamer has already released one title from Caramel Box in the past, there's even a chance they might actually pick it up.
  11. Inside. How else are you going to get the girl pregnant? Ideally, MC cums multiple times anyway so you can cum inside after you've already covered the heroine with multiple liters of liquid. Remember to drink enough water. Dehydration is bad for you! When in doubt, just get a few other guys to take care of the bukkake part.
  12. It seems like the Futanari tag still exists and the Dickgirl tags are only used for cases like Dickgirl on Dickgirl (which is Futa X Futa or Futa X Shemale or Shemale X Shemale). I guess it makes sense to remove the name futanari from those tags if they apply to both futanari and shemales. I can't decide if I like the sound of "Futanari on Male" or "Dickgirl on Male" better, somehow.
  13. The easiest to cook thing I eat pretty regularly is cooked Japanese rice (generally sold as "sushi rice") + soy sauce + a raw egg + one or more sliced vegetables (I tend to use spring onions and chili peppers) + canned tuna or small shrimps or bacon. Takes very little time to make and depending on the toppings you choose it's cheap, too. Just be careful to use fresh eggs only. Another recipe I use somewhat frequently is tuna salad. I actually got both of those recipes from a book called "Harumi's Japanese Cooking", which has a number of other useful recipes, too. Pretty sure they're slightly westernized, but then you're just asking for something quick and easy to make here so that doesn't matter. If you happen to have a gas stove, one more thing for quick cooking I could recommend is getting yourself a wok, specifically a thin one with a round bottom. It takes a bit more time to prepare the food since you'll want to use pretty small slices, but in exchange you'll be done with the actual stir frying very quickly. Takes a bit of practice, though. You can expect to eat some charred food in the beginning.
  14. Case in point: Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san's Muromi. Osaka-ben can at times be somewhat difficult to understand, too, though, depending on how heavy it is. http://cameronjove.web.fc2.com/osaka04.htm But yeah, there's nothing unusual about that Summer Wars clip.
  15. "A lot like Shinsekai yori" sounds like "highly recommended" to me haha. You might want to put the part about Irotodori in spoiler tags, at least how the plot ends up working out in the end.
  16. Well, if you really want to be on the safe side, you'd need to get the seller to put the whole thing in a different, slightly bigger package and shrink-wrap it so it looks like you're importing something entirely different.
  17. Scenario: Urobuchi Gen, Takaya Aya Artist: Santa Composer: Abukawa Osamu Voice actors: Okajima Tae Matsuyama Sayaka Kajita Yuuki Maeda Kei Aoba Ringo
  18. I've been meaning to read Devils Devel Concept for a while now, seems I've got something to look forward to there. Guess this kind of heroine is really rare if even you can't think of many VNs with one in it. A shame - and kinda surprising, considering all of those VNs seem to have been pretty well (some really well) received in Japan. Yeah, Maia is really awesome, as is Hapymaher as a whole. It's funny, seeing as you could (very) vaguely shove her into the yandere trope, which isn't all that rare. But then I guess writing a sane yandere is probably harder than just making her flat-out insane.
  19. I'd like to ask for recommendations of VNs with heroines with a personality similar to Ami (Semiramis no Tenbin), Maia (Hapymaher), Nemu (euphoria), and somewhat more broadly speaking, Kimika (SubaHibi). Translated/untranslated doesn't matter. On the off chance there's an OELVN like that, I'll happily take that, too. Reading difficulty doesn't really matter either, although if it's similar to or exceeds that of Hapymaher, a little warning would be nice. Ah, and I prefer going into a VN with as little spoilers as possible, so I'd ask you don't go into the particulars of how their personality changes over the course of the plot or anything like that.
  20. MikandiJapan: Considering the mini episode 2 stretch goal is at 158k, do you think it would be at all possible to move the mini episode 3 stretch goal to 170k? It doesn't seem likely the 210k stretch goal will be reached and there's a lot of space between 158k and 210k stretch goals.
  21. Well, depends on how quickly you want to improve. When I started reading VNs, I used to play in window mode, copy every sentence into a browser window and look the words up by hovering over them (Rikaichan). I've found that improves your vocabulary pretty quickly, although of course reading takes somewhat longer that way. Not to mention you'll understand a lot more than if you use a machine translation. I used to use ITH and yeah, I know that problem where sometimes only parts of sentences were copied over. If I ever need to use a text hooker again, I'll give Chiitrans a shot. Thanks for the suggestion. =)
  22. You should definitely read Houkago no Futekikakusha at some point. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Anyway, welcome! Assuming you're reading with text hooker + dictionary rather than + machine translator, you'll get better pretty quickly. At some point you should drop the extractor and shift to only looking up words you don't know that seem important, even if you only do that for some easier VNs in the beginning. I've found getting used to reading without the ever-present crutch of "I can just copy that word and this word and(...) and look it all up!" makes a world of a difference. And while you probably know them already, I'll link guidetojapanese and imabi anyway, just in case. Grammar is much more important than vocabulary since, as you've surely noticed already, making sense of a sentence with unfamiliar grammar is a lot harder than making sense of one with only unfamiliar vocabulary.
  23. It's impossible to make a poll that doesn't allow for double voting without requiring users to register or sending out a unique code to each user that they need to enter in order to vote. Even if you try tracking the IP + saving a cookie + some other measures, that's all easily evaded by clearing all local browser data after each vote + using a proxy/VPN to change IP every time.
  24. Basically this. Unfortunately, it's pretty damn rare to find a trap heroine in a VN not solely focused on traps.
