  1. Nothing really. This is just a thing that I'm sure isn't broken and is capable of decoding stuff properly. As I said before, If you uninstalled all codec packs, then you'll have to find any other codecs that can cause the problem and remove them (possibly along with the software that installed them, like proprietary screen recorders, video editors, whatever). Just in case make sure that your directx is updated. Deleting the movie might be possible but I don't remember in which archive it is located, without looking at it myself. And even if you do it, it still may crash cause the movie isn't there.
  2. By the way. Sometimes similar issues can be caused by windows updates. Some time ago KB2803821 update caused problems in many games and even if all codecs were ok, people were getting issues with the videos in games. I believe it was fixed since then so for a last resort option try running windows update. Still, clean install of the LAV filters is the most reliable solution for issues like this.
  3. This is not true. First of all K-Lite isn't any better than CCCP. Though which one of them is less crap is debatable. I would probably vote for CCCP. Secondly packs does have something to do with the game itself because they are used for playing back said opening. As for the issue itself. AbsurdDream noted that someone recommended him to uninstall CCCP. That wasn't a bad advice, but it doesn't means that this is definitely CCCP's fault, but rather some of the codecs can be broken and cause this issue. That could be some other codecs that user himself installed, or codecs that were installed by some crappy proprietary software. AbsurdDream In any case, if it crashes right before the opening, try to remove the codec pack you use (if any) and try it again. Or remove, reinstall it and then try again, or remove it completely and install latest stable LAVfilters (without any codecpacks this time). If nothing helps, you probably on your own with this, because most likely the issue is not with the VN itself but with your windows. P.S. ADV player HD is not a "some media player program" that you should uninstall. That's the engine of the Konosora itself.
  4. You mean original and charity edition? Except some one system file that helps to differentiate between the versions those tho are bit-identical. The difference, aside from the cover, is in where the profit goes.
  5. Well I found it, but I don't really remember who made it. It was sooo long ago that I was messing with FSN PS2. So not sure if he wants me to post it. Though I can send it to you in PM... Edit: but AFAIR it takes mounted iso as input and searches for the files there... so perhaps it needs to be modified to work with something else.
  6. Somewhere I had a tool that was capable of extracting PS2 FSN stuff... written in python. but I don't remember what exactly it were extracting. I think it was capable of extracting graphics and scripts... I'll see if I can find it.
  7. Sure but It's probably not the case. If this is due to different users or different folders of some sort - he probably would notice the issue right away. Cause not only progress will be affected but the actual separate savedata files will be missing depending on from which folder it was loaded. The first time savedata will be requested from some other folder, VN will act as a clean install. But from what I understand he was reading it properly and supposedly used savedata. Just noticed the issue after opened CG gallery.
  8. Hmm... I wonder why would it do that... At least on win7 it places savedata in Documents\FAVORITE\星空のメモリア\save regardless of admining. Maybe this is some new and "awesome" win8 feature. Edit: actually looking at the screenshot, TsumikiTheAmazing also runs win7. Maybe this can happen due to some broken registry entries then.
  9. I am still reading some of the hoshimemo routes, but never encountered such issues. The only thing I noticed is that even though I seem to be finished Asuho route, it doesn't says "complete" under the button in CG gallery. Well, maybe not an issue, maybe I still haven't saw some minor version of some CG or something. The other thing I noticed is that if, after reading the story for some time, VN is not closed correctly, whatever if it'll hang, if you'll kill the process, some awkward reboot or something like that, then the progress won't be saved even if you make new savedata often. Means you'll be able to load your savedata but it can forget that you already saw some part of the story. But so far nothing as serious as you describe. I don't think this is an admin rights issue since it places savedata in my documents where you don't need such rights. Just in case, make sure that when you close hoshimemo, you use X button (or alt+f4) and properly wait till it'll exit by itself. Also check if you installed the patch and update correctly. Well, re-installing it shouldn't hurt either. Especially that at this point you don't have much to lose ^^ The only thing I can guarantee, this is not some new bug because of my Chinami Voice patch (in case you are using it). But some of your files might be corrupted...
  10. Well, I saw the EGS too. But it's not like their data is 100% accurate too. Well the main reason I asked is just I really fail to understand why wouldn't they include the new content in the releases following the PS2. It is probably not worth to make the new content for some old VN, but if it's already there, in PS2, putting it in PC version should be trivial. Well, anyway. Have you checked that PS2 version? It is possible that the console version uses the same script format as the PC. It can even use the same archive format in some cases. That would mean that there isn't much to hack.
  11. What about 3 releases of this VN after the PS2 version? They do not include the new stuff? I mean, do they really sell it again and again without adding anything new... I don't want to believe.
  12. Fuwa doesn't do translations (some translators just hang out here). There is one and only English Ever17 translation. It also happened to be an official one. Though you may still find it to be "shoddy" (whatever that means )
  13. that .DS_store file is very suspicious. It shouldn't be there, this is something for MAC not Windows. ever17PC_us is might be something you need to rightclick -> install but I wouldn't advise you to do so. Simply download it again from some other source.
  14. xyz Translator of course have a freedom to do things in the way he wants, but there are some limits to that. Passing these limits and making people dislike your work defeats the purpose of making something for them to begin with. Of course I don't think that this H stuff is that of a big deal, and not that much people will dislike it, but hopefully at least now you'll understand. And if you release something to the public, you agree that people are entitled to get it. And nothing strange if they may not like it if you did it wrong. Edit: More extreme example that fits my definition above probably machine translations. Same thing. You do it for people but you do it wrong. Better don't do it at all.
  15. You mean the process of translation is fun? And this is all that matters for you? Then make sure your projects don't leave your harddrive. Otherwise you agree that people are entitled to get fan translation.
  16. You're forgetting that in most cases they are translating it for other people, not for themselves. Unless they have something to gain from it. And yes, people are entitled to get fan translation, why wouldn't they? If you don't think so, why you do TL? If you do it for yourself - usually you do it quietly and make sure it doesn't leaves your harddrive. And especially you're not doing all these secret projects with pseudonyms to fool other people so that they'll see translation is going and won't start new project. Edit: but personally I'm okay with that. I'm sad not because of the fact of "doing the way they want" but because of GA being retard.
  17. no. check again. most likely you only set Japanese locale. this is not enough.
  18. ^By chance found this on some forum in some unrelated 4 years old thread while looking for something else (I wish I didn't).So yeah. It's exactly as I expected and have nothing to do with how loli treated outside of Japan, but rather how H is treated by GA. So sad. People like him are exactly the reason why I didn't wanted to include non-H stuff in my FateHF patch. If you're such a pussy - go read some real books with tales for children. ヽ(#゚Д゚)ノ┌┛Σ(ノ´Д`)ノ I wish Regista will make Route Double port and will and H to it. I'd like to see GA's reaction then. And it will take 2 more years to translate it. ATM they have 0% done. And this is all assuming they'll still be alive by then.
  19. 1) another projects? what about Before Crime, Code18, 12Riven and stuff like this? We'll see them in 10 years or so? Please take moar projects. I like when people plan their sheldue ahead for decades. 2) not including 18+, lol, I always thought of Blick as a retard, but now I have no respect for Lemnisca as a whole. Why would they care? Legal reasons are not the issue if you know how to do it. It's just retardedness.
  20. Assuming we never met before - No. I don't owe anything. Edit: and btw being me and being stranger at the same time are contradictory facts. If he is a stranger, he is automatically not me. Your definition is only possible with timetravel in mind. It depends on how this would work. - If we assume that timetravel within a single timeline is possible, helping to the earlier version of me would result in a paradox and it is not possible to predict an outcome. But regardless of it, that would most likely mean that the the present/future me would change as well and I don't want that. - if we assume that time travel within a single timeline is not possible and attempts to do that create a new world (many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics) and I somehow met a person who is me but a bit earlier version - his happiness worth nothing to me. Edit: some of the above probably can be expanded to explain why even assuming timetravel scenario the original question is meaningless, but I'm going to leave it like that. Scenario A Can't be answered. Without significant amount of memories that person will no longer be me, who writes this post right now and I can't predict his actions. That would probably depend on how much I can remember. But if I don't remember anything, I think there are more chances that he'll sign it. Maybe not... Edit: this question probably can answer only the one who lost his memory for real. It’s been an entire year now since you woke up. - That person is not me. No answer can be given. What you really want to ask/what your question really is: If everything I describe in Scenario A will happen to a protagonist of the story X, what would you (as a viewer/reader) like to see him doing? And pretty much everyone above answers this question, not the original one.
  21. Well with ~4k coming from 2 people... there are some crazy guys. The good thing about all this (well, for me) is that it is now way more clear who is "alive", who is "dead", who is working on what. o(^▽^)o ^This is regarding Clannad and LB
  22. Edit. never mind. I might be misunderstood something and the cause of the problem is likely different.
  23. So I just had the same issue with all (unpatched) versions of this VN. Here's the solution for WINDOWS: You need to set Date and Time to Japanese format. Setting Japanese locale is not enough! However this is if you want to read Japanese version. This shouldn't happen with English version, but apparently it happens under wine. I hope you can figure out how to do the same under wine...
  24. I don't mean that he wasn't going to do what he claimed but rather "regardless of what he claimed such activity should not be tolerated" I used that word not as an accusation but as an insult. As I said, I didn't thought he really violated anything. Except what RusAnon just pointed out.
