Lovely x Cation and Pretty x Cation are as close as it gets. In Pretty x Cation you are able to enter your name and surname. They won't "say" it but they will type it. You also is able to choose from hundreds of common Japanese names and characters will actually call you like that. With some minor differences like honorifics. Don't remember the exact number but it was 2-3 hundreds not counting different honorifics. Thousands? No way, I counted. Edit: but these common Japanese names are referred to as "nicknames". You are supposed to enter your name AND select a nickname. They both co-exist. Edit2: actually you are also able to change the way you refer to yourself. Like Boku/Watashi/Ore etc. But this hardly matters

In case it will fail again. There is an alternative way of getting this VN. Download and install original Japanese version of this VN (do NOT install Sweet love thingy that comes with it) (make sure you locale set to japanese even before you begin install) Then download this patch and install it. Final result should be exactly the same as you're trying to get right now.

Then there are no recommended install locations for other software. If it lets you choose at all, you should be able to install it anywhere you want. Be it C:\awesome_VNs_here or D:\kotori_is_my_waifu\Of course you should always read readmes included with patches (if there are any).

Uh, what do you mean, dvd? Oo For immediate use or for archiving purposes? What I said about program files only applies to this particular VN with this particular version of the patch. All other things... whatever you should install them the way they are supposed to be installed or put where you want to have them, unless explicitly mentioned not to.

While you at it, make sure you're NOT putting any of the files/folders in "C:\Program Files". Not sure if in your case this is relevant, but this is one of the reasons why patch may fail.

Get some more serious software for extraction.Edit: of course there are other ways to overcome crapsplorer's wrongdoings, but I'm not telling how to do it on purpose. Delete everything you have (except the zip archives of course). Extract them again using something like 7zip. Then apply the patch the same way you did before, but read what console tells you (or post a screenshot here). If there will be any issues, there will be a mention of "file not found" or something similar. You don't need to be tech-savvy for that. That's a basic understanding of how operating system works.Edit: But this time it might actually work correctly. However I'm not sure if your existing savedata (made with partially patched konosora) will not cause additional problems.

That's fine, but before doing so make sure you did not used windows explorer to extract zip archives. Not sure what do you mean. From your 1st post I thought that "Rio.arc.bkp" appeared in konosora folder after you ran the patch. So I asked if other arc.bkp files were also created. If you had "Rio.arc.bkp" even before running the patch then I dunno, whatever you have there probably messed up. I see. After reading this my will to help you totally disappeared. Good luck. P.S. Might be that some files were patched and some no. However if Rio.arc.bkp was created and then konosora started at all, means 2 last commands of the patch probably succeeded. But if so, I don't see the reason for other commands to fail. Have you tried to read the console output after patching? Was there anything unusual? Most likely there was some hint to what went wrong. Also check if all of the "*.arc.bkp" files are present.

B-but I never said its not tracing? Sure maybe he drew right on top of it, why would I care? Even if he completely traced the outline, finished work still have more of his own contribution. And anyway, I'm a simple consumer, final product is all that matters. Edit: By looking at hair, clothes, background and stuff, we clearly can see that no more than 90% of the outline match (often less). And outline by itself is no more than 50% of the total work. Compared to many similar cases, this is a pretty modest stealing.

Its far from being a copy. He mostly used the same pose. In case of real-life drawings artists use poser software all the time. If we're talking about most of the work, then in this case No Game No Life author's original contribution is clearly bigger. In any way, I don't really care as long as the content is good (not talking about images, they are good, but rather about finished product in general). Applocale is an old and evil separate software. If you're not sure whether you use it or not, then you don't use it. That said, I don't know what else we can do... if you have no other options, you can post your savedata made in a place where this issue occurs, then I'll see if I have it too in that place.

Best solution: Throw fuwa release in a trash bin, get original files, install them and then apply translation patch ^__^ But in this particular case with Mirai no Uta, deleting savedata folder before starting VN should help.

BTW, -SkyLancer-, you say text was OK before. Right now if you start this VN from the beginning, do you also see this small text? If so, try to delete your savedata (make a backup 1st) and see if anything changed. Other people seem to be having similar issues, so this might be original bug (which is strange how such issue could slip into commercial localization) or fuwa release is crap (in which case I won't be surprised). Edit: Just installed from the original iso images. Well, it doesn't installs any custom fonts, the font it uses is whatever something built-in or something like Courier New. But in any case I couldn't break the text regardless of what I did... A wild guess, but in case you use applocale, you should stop doing so.

Check if you have MSGothic/MSMincho fonts, if not - install them. Or better - install East Asian languages support on your XP, if you haven't did this already. But that's mostly the same as havoc already suggested. There isn't anything else you can do except maybe re-installing it.

Given that behind this software is a Korean company, if it doesn't work with Japanese locale, I would say that it was made whatever on purpose or the software is just crappy. Yeah, some software wrongly checks for locale to select the display language. But most of the time if it does so, means it supports multipe languages and it should be matter of switching it to the language you need, whatever during install or after it. Since this should be a one-time operation, I don't think it hurts much to switch locale to English temporary, install/configure this software and then go back. Though if the installer is something like "installshield", it can even be configured through shortcut/commandline to start in the language you want.

I know one. Default windows notepad. You will have hard time reading for example Russian non-unicode files with it if your locale is English or Japanese, in other words doesn't matches the text language. But seriously, there are tons of Unicode-aware notepad replacements that allow you to read any codepage on any locale. Edit: but things are different if your default locale is/was English. Then switching to Japanese will not affect notepad in a way I described, cause Japanese codepage includes English characters too.

Its an old program no longer officially supported for like 10 years if not more. On newer windows OSes you can't even install it without messing with UAC. I wonder why Microsoft still allows to download it at all. Yes, it does not always work. But whats worse, sometimes it works but causes problems that are hard to identify. Personally I only encountered such issues with text display, but who knows what other issues could be due to applocale. Don't write a guide about it, don't promote this crap. Edit: Personally I always use Japanese locale too, for many years. And pretty happy with it.

This is not the same issue as with SCSI drive. In that case it tells you that the key doesn't match the disc. But here it mentions install error. In this case you see this issue because Route Double is not compatible with Windows 8.1.

I don't have a little anyone, true, but the real reason behind my question was to tell you that there shouldn't be anything wrong and ideally no one should notice any difference. And if there is some problem that someone have, then its something that you will likely be able to fix.
