  1. Because there are tons of great untranslated VNs and nowhere near enough fan-translators to do them all, Balrd is just one of them. True in Balrd case chances might actually be somewhat better then for other VNs as amaterasu translations did start working on it true it's currently on staled.
  2. Hanahira! and maybe Fragment's Note.
  3. I see you liked Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! so I would recommend Aura: Maryuuinkouga Saigo no Tatakai, it is like a darker version of Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!.
  4. I didn't know they were gone too... O_O I just come back few days ego after a year of absence. Well welcome back and true your visit may be short I hope it is a pleasant one.
  5. Parasite eve 2 <3 Finished it over 30 times got all the finish game bonus weapons and items and there was only one code I newer managed to figure out (Last room in a hotel on second floor in a dessert).
  6. If my Highschool was a VN it would definitely be on of those delinquent only VNs where people are more concerned about being a top dog rather then romance.
  7. Venetica is one of my favorite western games that you don't hear much about. For older titles Parasite Eve 2 for PSX witch has a same system as old Resident Evil games 1-3 but even better then those and is nowhere as close as popular as them.
  8. It's not going to be a PS3 version it is going to be an all new version with improved graphic and new CGs and events, and only things that are going to be out are H-scenes. Therefore I would recommend w8ing for that version. I would recommend ether G-senjou no Maou or Rewite. Hidden Content They didn't said anything about it and I don't see why would it be. What they said is pretty much that they are going to add all new content that wasn't in Original including a content that was in PS3 version but it's not going to be a PS3 version itself "Based on the All-Ages Edition Adds PS3 Content". So as Far as I get it H-scenes will be the only things that are out and all new events are going to be in. PS3 version is also 17+ witch usually means that only difference between 18+ is nudity/sex.
  9. It's not going to be a PS3 version it is going to be an all new version with improved graphic and new CGs and events, and only things that are going to be out are H-scenes. Therefore I would recommend w8ing for that version. I would recommend ether G-senjou no Maou or Rewite.
  10. It is completely normal to enjoy songs even if you don't understand words and put your own meaning into lyrics based on how music sounds to you.
  11. I just returned on forums myself. Welcome back. If healing is what you search that all you need is power of MOE! And we have that as much as you need:
  12. You are saying that there is no valid reason to keep them completely ignoring all the reasons people stayed above. Also otakuism being created by Japan has many Japanese things in it that are part of otakuism and shouldn't be changed.
  13. You’re a culture-seeker who would like VNs to be translated with other culture-seekers in mind. That’s perfectly okay. Wear your otaku team jacket with pride. Honorifics contain content. I think we can all agree on that. The question we then need to ask ourselves is: How much of that content is both relevant and non-redundant? If 99.9% of honorific use in a VN is exactly what one would expect of society — people being generally polite to one another, people being deferential to their superiors, people treating little kids like little kids, etc. — then it’s not adding content; it’s repeating and reinforcing it. Same goes for the .1% of exceptions where honorific use becomes important. Let’s say a low-level employee decides to mouth off to his boss and, as part of that, drops all honorifics. Is that omission the only thing showing us that the employee is being a jackass, or are there a dozen other tells signifying the same thing — e.g., has he just ripped off his tie, swept the contents of his desk on the floor, and called his boss a dumb jerkface? If so, then the honorifics are just reinforcing what we already know. To me, a story-seeker, if something in a translation ends up being both redundant and linguistically awkward, it’s a good candidate for the chopping block. Or I'll ask myself if there's a more natural way of capturing that same content in English. Perhaps most employees address the boss with a polite "Mr. Tanaka, sir..." But our employee marches right up and says, "Yo! Tanaka!" I think that you are forgetting one important thing, you here speak only about cases when it is obvious that one would use honorific and witch he would use, what I am speaking is about honorific that friends use between themselves, it is not that rare in anime, Manga and VNs for one character to refer to another with chan while the other one calls him back with san even true there is no clear reason for it other then their personalities and the way they see each other and for that there is no way for a reader to assume so and to know about it unless honorifics are there unless you ware to completely rewrite the way characters talk. Not always is there a way to correctly capture the content in English without loosing or changing even more of original content in a process and most of the time when you try to do so that is exactly what is going to happen, Translation of games like Hyper Dimension Neptunia are proof for that. Also majority of people who are into Otakuism prefer for those things like honorifics, and for people who don't understand those they are probably not going to understand many other things anyway regardless of translation.
  14. I think that honorifics are very important and that they can say a lot about how one character views another one as well as sometimes give you a better picture of characters personality and that they should practically never be drooped out of translation.
  15. Yes I do reject those primitive things and believe that humanity should evolve together with technology living those primitive things that are more suited to animals behind in a past. And while writers and developers of VNs can make whatever they won't that doesn't mean that everything that they add into VNs is part of otakuism and if they add sex that is ether because of their lack of understanding of otakuism or because they don't care for it and all they care is making more $. No, that's never been your mistake actually. Rule of thumb - you'll rarely sway your direct opponent with an argument alone for many reasons, one of which is people don't like being preached at, another is they may have a different perspective on the issue. You'll encounter the same problems wherever you go, you should probably become more flexible or you'll only really learn to relax in the company of like minded individuals. Anyway, this thread will probably need to be purged of insults. Calm down everybody, and knock off the abuse. I am not sure whatever I agree with this or not. I do think that it is also important to discus with people with different opinions but at a same time I think it is only logical for people to stay away from groups in witch they are not welcome and that are hostile toward them, like for example if you are a gay you would usually not hang around with people who are part of some anti-gay group.
  16. Yes huge part of VN fan base are only perverts who are into noting other then porn but those are not real fans of VNs and are the biggest disease for a otaku community. And no meter how much of people like those crawls their way into Otakuism the fact that Otakuism isn't about that won't change no meter how much you try to make it seem like it is all about that. Nukige are not really VNs they are just porn no meter how much you don't like it that is how it is. You call yourself a fan? Pfft, you make me laugh. Here's the cold hard truth: You're actually an anti-fan of the whole VN community. True fans can see all dimensions of visual novels and read several different genres from both sides of the opposite spectrum including the ecchi/sex scenes even if they are a sub-element or a central theme of it. Seeing that you hate the sexual dimensions of it so much, you're at the bottom of the pole at being a "true" visual novel fan. Visual novels aren't just reading words, probing plots and characters. It's suppose to be a medium to satisfy our fetishes and other things we usually don't digest from a regular book or movie. Maybe to you perverts that is how it seems but that is not what an otakuism is about. In fact quite the opposite otakuism is a very pure media and shit like porn and sex most definitely have no place in it. And between someone like me who dedicated his life to otakuism and someone like you who is only into porn witch is not even part of otakuism I think it is clear who is a true fan. Okami, say whatever you'd like about your opinions on porn, I really don't give a shit about that. However, don't speak on behalf of otaku when you are a selfish, self-centered jackass who refuses to acknowledge anyone's opinion on anything. You are not an otaku, and you saying that you know what they represent is the biggest fucking joke ever. Are you Japanese? No. Do you live in Japan? No. Have you ever actually spoken to an otaku from the country? No. Do that, and watch them spit in your face. You people are joke who think that just being from japan and being an otaku makes you a true otaku. Being true otaku means understanding anime culture and it's worlds and dedicating your life to otakuism. Anime characters are pure and would never do anything primitive like sex. Anime characters are far superior to real life humans far deeper and more complicated and something to be worshiped not used as fap material. You don't even understand that yet you call yourself an otaku.

Your "explanation" mostly consisted of opinion and condescension. You flat out stated that your opinion is the only answer, and that I shouldn't even question it. What I said is called common sense witch is why I stated that it normaly is not something that should even be said, but if you already want to question it then at least put an decent argument.
  18. I agree that you should add everything when making statistics, but everything that belongs in it. Porn is a completely different media that should not be labeled together with the non-porn media. Would you honestly count person who only watches porn as a movies fan? That is the same thing, people who are only into VNs for Nukiges and H-scenes are not really VN fans they are just fans of porn. Porn industry is also completely different from movie industry so if you ware to include both in chart what you would be doing is combine 2 industries not representing one as a whole. To be completely fair, the word "nukige" is an internet term that I am almost certain does not exist in Japan. If I asked one of the many fans while standing in line for a visual novel release for some good nukige recommendations, I guarantee they would have no idea what that term means. To Japanese people, PC games are PC games. Regardless of the genre, it's a market that focuses fantasies and story telling. About 90% of those stories involve porn. Based on your argument, you're saying that anything that contains porn should no longer be considered a visual novel, essentially meaning you are speaking for the entire country by calling them porn fans. While unfortunately a lot of VNs contain porn it is question of whatever or not those as a whole can be consider porn. I did say that people who are into VNs for Nukige and H-scenes are noting more then porn fans and how could you even be called differently if you are only into porn. And the fact that they do contain porn is the fact that shows us how terrible fan base for our media is. If you're not going to include all translated VNs, then don't call the chart "All Translated VNs", because then the name is wrong and misleading. Saying that nukige VNs aren't VNs is like saying that porn flicks aren't part of the film medium. Whether you like it or not, porn is filmed, and nukige VNs are VNs. Just because porn flicks aren't sold at your local movie store doesn't mean that they aren't movies (n. a story or event recorded by a camera as a set of moving images; a motion picture.), which they actually are. If you don't want to make statistics about nukige, fine, but it's incredibly irritating for you to mislabel something just because you don't like the part you're ignoring. If you don't want to include them, then just don't make the chart, or label it properly. It's really not that hard. I really don't get why you always have to bring up your vendetta against porn. Just about everyone already knows about it, and I can assure you, most of us really don't care. It is actually possible to keep your opinions about porn to yourself and not repeat them over and over again ad infinitum. No meter how much you like flapping porn is just porn it is and never will be anything more then that, and just because you want it to sound pritier and call your self a VN fan or movie fan that doesn't change facts that what you are into is only porn and not movies or VNs. just because you don't like to hear the truth and there are many people who are like you doesn't change that truth. And I newer really start doing those discussions on my own it's you people who have a need to go out of you way to defend things you like and to try to make them seem as something more then they are. Rather then being angry for me spiking the truth if you can why not try giving a reasonable argument of why should porn be counted as something that it is not, I have given mine on why it shouldn't even true it is something that should not even be questioned in a first place. I guess the countless arguments people kept giving you and keep giving you now mean nothing to you. I suppose 20+ people all arguing against your beliefs in the past year or so is enough to say that you are the only person who has given valid points and that everyone else is an idiot. You're back for a single day Okami, and you already manage to start this crap again. Simply amazing. I had always answered any argument that was given to me and properly explained why that argument is wrong like I did to nosebleed post earlier Zenophilios on the other hand didn't give anu argument. I haven't started this argument at all I just provided a chart and you people ware the one who fended themselves offended for not counting porn as VNs and started it. And what is amazing is just how low the VN fan base can get. If the fan base is terrible for wanting h-scenes in VNs but most of the fuwanovel user base also wants h-scenes in their VNs, I guess that makes the fuwanovel community terrible as well? I'm starting to wonder why you bothered to come back to a community you have such an obviously strong distaste for. I come back because of the other half that is not bunch of perverts who have di*k incited of brains. True right now it seems that that half has shrieked even more so it might have been a mistake for me to come back.

  20. The English eroge market is in trouble, but the threat isn't lack of developer interest. The threat is that they'll ignore the nascent English eroge market and focus on Steam and Kickstarter instead (which are hostile to erotic content), causing eroge licensing opportunities to dry up. There's a very real possibility that companies will further adapt to the Western market, dropping the content types that are less appealing or offensive in Western culture: ero, especially ero involving lolis. I like VNs because of their unique Japanese traits, so if these traits get lost in translation then it hardly matters to me if the market flourishes. The market I cared about will have dried up. It wouldn't be a problem at all if they stop doing ero content, in fact it was done many times and that didn't mean that we will stop getting VNs that originally had H content only H content itself would lack and only the people who would be affected by that are the ones who are only into VNs for that in a first place and not true fans of a VNs. This could also greatly improve VN market in a west if it did happen and fix a broken fan-base that we have now.

  23. That is a same thing I was saying is a main obstacle of VN market in a west. True I don't think that things look that bad as localization companies had recently got a green light from some big developers from Japan like Key and I think that that is a pretty good sing. Sure they did already have a fan-translation but I think that what is important is that they are actually getting green light. Also some recently localized JRPGs on steam ware a huge success. So it seems like Japanese companies are slowly opening up to the west.
  24. Nukige are not really visual novels at least that's my opinions, same as Hentai. it is like considering porn movies as 'movies' Exactly! If someone ware to ask you to get them a number of all movies made in a year nobody in his right mind would go around counting all porn out there. Or if you ware to talk about movies with your friends nobody would suddenly started talking about porn and be like "what those are movies too".
  25. That's a side-effect of the route structure philosophy most VNs employ. These VNs have a story they want to tell, and too many choices or having too many consequences for your choices introduces too many variables, so most will either have few choices, choices which almost always only effects flavour dialogue, or a lot of bad ends resulting in 'game-overs'. There are also those ware each choice doesn't effect story much but rather sum of choices that you choose eventually result in different routes, as well as combination of latter 2 cases that you mentioned with this one. But yes most VNs tend to avoid having to much variables because more variables means more content that needs to be made witch requires higher budget. True it isn't so much about VNs as it is about any game witch choices, I remember some Bioware's stuff talking about this problem too, even true Bioware has a high budget in the end number of variables you can create in game is always limited with a budget you have and with expectations of income from sales.
