  1. Happy new year! I am gonna stay myself this year and as many after that as I live.
  2. They are not censored they are fixed versions. though technically the removal of content is a form of censorship. So they are in a way censored versions. ideologically or principally removed content constitutes censorship, which Steam's Grisaia etc. versions definitely is (Steam's principle to not allow AO content). Grisaia version on steam is a port of PSP version with new content that 18+ doesn't have "Ported from PSP version (which has new CG and content)". Generally all those console versions of VNs remove content that shouldn't even be there in a first place and add new content, therefore it is more of a fixed version then it is censored. Being fixed and being censored aren't mutually exclusive, you can censor some stuff but still fix up the other parts of a game. So I can concede that one might view it as "fixed" more so than "censored", but I think there's a bit of both in there. Indeed you can have both censorship and fixes at one but to say that something is censored is to imply that a content that is part of a VN is removed and if H-scenes are all that is removed that isn't a case as they are not something that should be in there in a first place, like removing commercials from a movie, would you call that censorship? They are not censored they are fixed versions. now we call it "fixed versions" and not censorship? lmao I'm not going to bother today arguing about this What I said above. The difference between advertisements and h-scenes is that h-scenes are a part of the story. It influences the storyline and it's known by the characters that said h-scene took place. Like it or not, it's a part of the VN. Arguing ads and h-scenes are the same in this context is like saying halfway through figuring out the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter remembers drinking a refreshing can of Dr. Pepper(tm). H-scenes happen ingame, ads do not. That argument doesn't hold true in the sense that it claims there isn't any censorship. Except they are not part of the story at all, they are just showed in a story to increase sales, lots of time they are not even written or illustrated by the same writer/artist as the rest of the VN and even when they are they are obviously out of the place and don't belong there. Saying that they are part of the story or that have influence on characters or anything of the kind is just trying to make H-scenes more then they are, in fact they are exactly the same as advertisements. H-scenes take place in the VN, ads don't. What you're saying is like arguing F/SN has intermissions where John Cena's WWE Super Slam is being promoted to the reader. What I am saying is that they don't take place in VNs. Your first example with Harry Potter and Dr. Pepper is actually a pretty accurate description of H-scenes. Well, I tend to disagree. I don't think much more will come out of that angle of discussion anyways, seeing as your anti-porn stance has already been debated with you more than enough times already. And if there ware bunch of people who worshiped Dr. Pepper and thought that world spins around it they would equally disagree in example above no metier how obvious it is that it is noting but add.

  8. History is written by winners, those who lost wars will be portrayed as evil while those who won as just. In reality neater of those things exist in this world. As for the topic itself I could practically write every single of my opinions in this topic, after all popular opinions are those that majority beleafs in and majority of people in this world are complete idiots.
  9. Without Talent you won't make good games, without good games you won't make money (most of the time).

  11. Translation check/proofread is when usually a second translator checks for any mistakes in translation, it is usually done after an editing because of an possibility of editing changing some lines and making some mistake in translation itself while making it sound better in English. Quality checking is when a second editor checks for quality of editing. In fan translation those two are often done at a same time by a single person. Editing is a processes of fixing spelling/grammar mistakes and making it sound better in English. Translating is well translating. Hacking is a processes of extracting a script/s from a game and then ones translation and everything else is done putting it back in a game and creating a patch. Image editing is a processes of editing text in photos and CGs and replacing Japanese text with an English. Not all fan translation groups do everything true and an absolute min is hacking and translating true there are even times when there is only translating too and translation is distributed as a text that you can read while playing a game. This is how processes goes when everything is done: Hacking>Translating>Editing>QC=TC>Hacking, with Image editing anywhere in between Hacking. There are some cases where TC is done before editing true this is not a very good thing to do. If TC and QC are done separately it completely depends from group to group witch is done first depending on whatever you put more importance on conveying an original meaning or the way it sounds in English, if former TC is left for last if latter QC is. Ofcourse you won't w8 for one processes to be done completely for another to start (With exception of hacking) and usually it is like when translator does some number of lines he sends them further to editor while continuing translation, editor does the same as well as QC & TC. The exception is when a single person is doing multiple jobs, such as Translating and TC or Editing and QC in that case you can't send it further and continue your job as the person who is suppose to be further is still doing something else or it is you yourself. Or in cases where one person is doing everything then s/he is just going to w8 to be done with one process to start another.
  12. You can't blame people for panicking when they have no info whatsoever on when to expect this game now. As for the H-scenes, if what Anduin hopes for is true, it will most certainly have that option (and be forced in steam). I, myself, don't care either way. I just hope story isn't packed into those H-scenes because I skip them often. Most likely there will just be an all-ages version and possibly the 18+ content not be released on the west. I didn't like the way Aselia was handled, because the evil route was a rather interesting one.... Honestly I would be very glad if that was a case but I doubt it will be as from the very beginning they stated that it is going to be 18+ but will have an option to turn of H-scenes and as far as I know even steam version is only a guess of a fans. As for Aselia I like it very much how it was handled and I don't think that I would enjoy a VN nowhere near as I do now if it was an 18+ version and from what I hear an "evil" route is noting but a bunch of rape H-scenes and trowing it out was only logical if you make a version without H-scenes.

I just hope story isn't packed into those H-scenes because I skip them often. It was always a norm for VN translation to not really have a specific date of release until really close to release, in fact just few years back when VN fan-base relaid more on fan translation not only did we not have specific dates of release we never even knew if we will even get a VN at all. After like 3-4 years or so of w8ing for it we now know that we will be getting it sometime soon, I think that is good enough.
  14. The only VN that is that short (1h-2h) and still good that I had read is The Sad Story of Emmeline Burns .
  15. Not exactly a newest info around, but nobody mentioned it yet so..... Accel World S2 is finally announced. Rather then fallowing a LN it will be an original sequel written by a same author that has written an Original LN.
  16. Is seems like a lot of people here can't tell a difference between "we expect to release title around X date" and "we will release a title on x date" and then hate on JAST because of their own misunderstanding. I just hope we still get that option to turn off H-scenes that was promised to us when a title does get released.
  17. I agree. I am not sure why front page is not getting any updates but maybe we could discus this with moderation and see if something can be done about it. True because of my absence I don't really know who holds the authority around here those days. It's not progressing because there's nobody anymore to actually code the front site, which also puts on hold other attempts at redesigning and restructuring it. Also maybe a lack of motivation from the various people involved in the front site, I don't know, I don't want to speak in their stead. Maybe we need to start thinking about a way to bypass this kind of issue, for example by using a wiki-like model. Do you mean changing a front site to a wiki-like model or just creating something wiki like connected to VNs? If latter that is kinda the same as if we just ware to share lists on Fuwa blog if former I don't see how is that different from right now as it would still need someone to do codeing unless I am missing something. Well if there is a way for front page to change to wiki-like model that can be updated I think that is better then having a more attractive design that stays outdated.

  19. I was thinking of making list of all groups that do VN translation separated by fan groups and localization groups and how much titles they released, when they started doing translations as well as are they still active or not and maybe some more info. If there is enough people interested I will start making this list in next few days and work on it when I have time until it is completed. So are you interested in seeing this list? If yes what info would you like to see in it?
  20. Considering that neater Robotics;Notes or Chaos;Child ever got a PC port and have no news on them being translated or getting a port my hopes for this one are low too, so I'l just hope that anime adaption is a good one. Wrong https://vndb.org/v10476 .
  21. Aww too bad you given up on arena death match I have confidence that I could win that one, far more then I have in my luck for sure. I would love if I could get Princess Evangile Key. Here is something for melting hearts:
