  1. I can't wait for self-driving cars.  Travel will be a lot safer without humans in control.  People blow the dangers of automation out of proportion.  What they're complaining about isn't risk; we take calculated risks every day that could cause us harm.  What they're complaining about is the feeling of powerlessness of entrusting their safety to a machine.  The machine could be safer, but they'll feel less safe because they're not in control.

True as it may be, the fact remains most people wouldn't be comfortable with it, and it seems silly to have to pay for something you wouldn't be comfortable using when there are alternatives.
Besides, I've seen "well-tested code" fail a little too often (especially when it involves networking, which this surely will. Watch out for that DDoS attack around the corner; it could be fatal!) to put my entire trust in such a thing.

  2. *Slow claps*
I can see how zurui being used in every which way being problematic when it had become a character quirk.
It's one thing if you could swap them all out for more appropriate words to fit each situation, but of course you couldn't.
This may be getting into translation territory, but, I do think "unfair" or "that's not fair!" might have been enough to make do with in most of the situations.
MC is being nice. "That's not fair (why are you being so nice all of a sudden)".
MC is being a jerk. "That's not fair (I shouldn't have to deal with your idiocy)".
MC is eating. "That's not fair (you get to eat when I don't? maybe?)"
"Not fair, not fair not fair! That's NOT FAIR!"
    ......Just a thought.

*disclaimer - I haven't played Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort so my examples may be waaaay off

  3. You're making it sound like I'm the only one with a problem. If you ask around then more people would chime in. Hell, this guy mentioned something about liking or disliking the translation in the post so he probably knows that it's a shit job.

You might be right but that same mindset is holding back polished translations. The reason official companies get away with it is because a lot of people are happy just reading the work. If no one complains then they'll just keep on playing dumb and releasing shit translations.

I wasn't sure how to make it sound like it wasn't just you. I'm aware you aren't the only one who's unhappy.

Even if this is the case, a strong, reasoned out argument is going to do more good than just headlong bashing.
It doesn't reflect well on the people/cause you're supporting, even if there are others that have already done the arguing for you.

  4. Not to sound ungrateful but trash needs to be called trash. This is why fan translations and official works aren't exactly the best. If more people complained then they'd release a more polished product.

IDK about that. I'd wager a good portion of the general vn-playing populace is satisfied with this iteration of translation/editing.
If, as you say, we bashed every which translation that was not worthy of your judgement, then perhaps indeed that the general level of VN translation/editing will be better overall.
It will, however, also mean that there are that much less translated VNs overall (I mean, just see how many translations are encouraged to shut down for not having skills necessary to fuel their enthusiasm even now).
I can't say for sure which is more to the benefit of the western VN community.

  5. Sure. But "trash tier" is a fairly pompous (and unconstrucive, I might add) way of critiquing.
One would expect some levels of credential from someone willing to make such statements.

I'm just a person that likes VNs. What kind of credentials are needed? Cause I think that's enough to criticize it.

I would expect you to be able to produce a work of the same magnitude and of greater quality.
Otherwise, what I expect from you is a "hey, thanks for doing the translation/editing, but I think you could have done better", not "trash tier".
