Well even I remember thinking that the common route is kind of boring, etc but I didn't feel that it was all that bad. Then again the routes made up for it and made me feel that all that time put into reading it was worth it.

NEVER try to compare a media that caters to socially awkward shut-in otakus whoose only female contacts are their mothers with reality. That's like killing yourself because you think you will respawn as seen in MMORPGs

Since you just ask the question here, I would just said not at all. The reason was a secret, but I would say that I agree with majority of the users here that VN was usually quite unrealistic in the first place. So of course there's bound to be some scenes that needed some suspension of disbelief. That's all that I could say.

I think that being shy (both sides) in a first date at 16 is pretty normal.
Sex can happen on a first date, but at 16? Come on. Maybe in Brave New World.
This is one of the famous instances of fan-pandering and fantasy-appealing commonly found in eroge. Take it or leave it.

Yeah, I had that on the beginning of my 'VN journey'. I was engrossed with romance and then BAM, sudden h scene destroyed everything. It's typical for shitty charage. It was jarring first few times, then I stopped reading those.
But still - it's ridiculous, stupid, off putting, immersion breaking, cringe worthy and lazy writting. I could count good written romances with believable buildups for sex scenes in VNs that I read on my fingers. Of one hand.
Visual Novels are really an awesome medium to tell stories and/or romances, but this medium is criminally underused.

But well, who cares about believability and good writting, when you have moe/cute/tsundere/fap-fodder/great prose-no substance/unfunny comedies/pissing lolis/head pats/retarded and-or mentally deranged characters posing as cute and list of what people tend to like in VNs goes on and on. Sigh.

Absolutely. So I was reading a VN the other day, and this girl went and talked to the protagonist! Can you believe that? Broke my imersion right there, such a thing would never happen to me.

Understand, it depends on the game... and I need to say this.  'Don't compare game romances to your romances.'  For that matter, don't compare game dating, game sex-friends, or game anything to rl.
Yes, I've been jarred out of an experience before... but never by romantic aspects.  Sex and romance are so varied irl and in fiction that there is no meaning in comparing a real or imagined experience to your own in the first place.
I've mostly been jarred by setting discrepancies too blatant to ignore, such as in Eustia.

People seem to have a tendency to try and associate their own life experiences to the visual novel they are reading, which I never fully understood. I have never encountered a route or heroine that I would associate with a real world counterpart. The appeal of visual novels to me is their unrealism, situations that could never happen in real life and characters that are often tailor made for the reader to like or at least sympathize with. Reality is often the opposite of fiction, boring and it is usually harder to sympathize with or even achieve basic understanding of other people.

Just want to reiterate what VaroOP said and that it was not a shot at your group by any means or your efforts, especially with everything that has happened to you guys to this point. The VN community appreciates all that you and every fan TL group does. I'd imagine editors are a bit easier to find that good TLers at least. I am a college graduate so I might be able to help some from an English proficiency standpoint, but I have never done so before so I doubt you would be interested in my services.

Again thanks for everything you guys do.

PS: Enjoy your backlog of VNs VeroOP =)

All of us appreciate the fact that you guys are translating this huge VN. At least there is hope that there will be a english translated version of Shin Koihime in the future!
Also, I am sure that Skrewball didn't say that intending to criticize you. Every other person who wants to play Shin Koihime feels that way because it really is a shame that we can't play it yet.
Well, right now I am fine because I have a ton of other VNs to play and in fact no time to play them..

Read Koichoco if you haven't already. The reaction Chisato has is worth it in almost every route.

Overall, the best thing is to read the original Koihime Musou for the Shoku route and Shin Kohime Musou for the Go and Gi routes (if the translation gets ever finished). The Shoku route in SKM is shorter and definitely inferior to the original, but SKM has quite decent Go and Gi routes instead which the original doesn't have at all. Gameplay in both versions is similar simplistic and more for decoration.

Shin Koihime is better in every possible way.  The original Koihime was a really half-assed attempt to utilize the Three Kingdoms setting, with weak characterization and a complete white-washing of anything interesting from the era.  For one thing, Sun Ce is already deceased in Koihime, despite it beginning before the point in history in which Sun Ce died.  In addition, the endgame makes not a lick of sense.  Shin Koihime has the advantage of a much richer story with less of an obsession with sex in general, even in the Shoku path.
Edit: To be clearer, Shin Koihime is basically three deep stories in one game, each based in the same world, with the difference being in what side the protagonist takes.  This decision alters his lifestyle and experiences beyond all recognition, since each side has its own philosophy and differences in how they treat him, as well as dramatically differing heroine personalities.  If you pick Cao Cao's side, for instance, the protagonist's role is primarily as a civil officer, occasionally providing ideas but primarily serving as a city patrol officer as well as a companion to the other characters.  In the Sun family's case, he is an adviser/tactician, as well as the husband to all the women generals.  In the case of Liu Bei and the crew, he is the overall figurehead ruler and symbol of the nation, though Liu Bei also serves in that role.
In the original Koihime, the protagonist was treated like a messiah+ harem king from beginning to end, and the results were... boring in comparison.  Not to mention that the actual storyline was just not as well written or designed.

VaroOP got a reaction from mitchhamilton in I have a fetish for Maledom.
Well I picked this tag from another website. Maledom in my mind refers to something like the H-scenes we have in Majikoi. ( except the route where tsubame leads in majikoi s)
If you want I can post a link to a certain doujinshi that was tagged with maledom and you can see for yourself thats its not a code word for rape at the very least.
PS : I hate rape so I wasn't asking for that. Otherwise I would be straight forward with it.

Kara no Shoujo it is. When I read the name I was thinking that I have read it somewhere before and I realized that I have watched a hentai with the same name before. I literally was watching that hentai for the plot by the end. Looks like I will be able to read the full thing and know the whole story about how his fiance dies and stuff. Thanks a lot!!

As some of you will no doubt notice, we have reverted to Maji Translations. Heizei seems to have quit, and we did not wish to delay the release of the game.

With that, Maji Translations are proud to present the full English translation of Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai! S. The link to the release blog post can be found in the first post, or here. The subbed videos are coming soon™. No ETA on when or if the uncensor will be complete.

This patch comes with a readme.txt, and I urge you to read it. If you don't, you will likely have a bad time. The 100% save is forthcoming as well.
