  1. So after a good long spell of hiding under a rock I tried DDLC, which felt like a completely shallow rip off of MYTH. However, I did quite enjoy the mind f**k.

But compared to MYTH, which truly was a gem and rather different from what I normally read, I was just left wanting more as it was shorter than a prologue. I'm thinking I may finally begin Higurashi next as I've read elsewhere that its similar to both and could do with a little more mind f**k. :wahaha:

  2. Just finished Rakuen, have to say that I wasn't a fan of the

    Spoiler

harem end. It was a little too kinetic for my liking. But the rescue/car chase was bloody brilliant! :D

Not sure what to move onto next, I should probably restart Ever17.

  3. Just finished Meikyuu...

    Spoiler

I just wanted to say that the first Asako/JB H scene was truly spectacular, genuinely hilarious to the point of weeping eyes in places. But the ending is such a cliff hanger, almost like they cut a sequel in half. I'll move onto Rakuen next... ignore all previous plans I need to know what happens!

  4. I decided not to go back to Chrono clock just yet Wei123 and pushed forward with some Grisaia.

I'm not as far through Meikyuu as would have liked, spent far too much time onboard this trip due to broken generator circuits... several full earths I had to chase down. Anyhow I just wanted to say that the first Asako/JB H scene was truly spectacular, genuinely hilarious to the point of weeping eyes in places. I think I'm about halfway so will probably advance onto Rakuen this trip.

Although after seeing several fan art CGs I'm really interested in Hapymaher; so maybe that'll be on the cards next (when I'm home).

All routes were okay, but I liked Michuru's route the most.

Little Michuru was truely awesome, sad route ending. I did Makoto, Michuru and Misaki, couldn't be arsed with DD, but maybe the weird attempt to be British turn me off; is it worth fighting through just to get Cro's route?

Wei, i just noticed you're reading Ef, I loved eden has it got a similar vibe?

  6. Long time since I've posted but other things in life had to take precedence. Recently I've read Chrono clock, which I wasn't too fond of the SoL and I felt the routes were weaker than the prologue that hooked me in, I enjoyed Makoto's the most but then I never unlocked Cro's route as I lost interest. I've been continuing with Meikyuu (slowly) but really popped on here to say I had just finished 'Lucy' in a single session binge read which bore the fruits of a Planeterian/Chobits baby! :) I very much enjoyed it and would love to read similar (I've already been recommended Himawari and Subarashiki elsewhere). I need more onion filled VNs!

Also while I'm here and waffling, RiP minori, seriously WTF I loved eden and I was really looking forward to trinoline! :rize:

I know it's kind of late, but here's my User ID: 927,402,510. Please add me; I'm in need of friends boohoo

I finally gave up waiting for an EU release and grabbed it via APK Pure... my ID is 262.238.547. I've been playing it non stop while I was overseas all of May, was a good time killer while stuck onboard at sea. :)

Anyways, there's this 3M DL event going on where you can summon a 4* Servant available from the Tutorial Summoning Pool but you have to first clear Fuyuki so you gotta hurry.

Just got my 3M DL Ticket... whoop whoop! I'm also quite enjoying this Sanzang event (boobies), anyone know how many volumes in the quest? I'm just about to do volume 6.

The Sumika in Alternative is not the same Sumika in Extra, they might as well be completely different characters.

For the sake of answering the OPs question I agree with Ranzo, just crack on and read it, you won't regret it.

However, as both Thyndd and Dreamysyu have discussed it's more complicated than that.

Seriously though stick with it, Muv Luv is well worth the time invested!

  10. Are Meikyuu and Rakuen what Fate Hollow Ataraxia is to FSN?

Just an awesome fan disc with some original content and side stories but no real continuation of the plot?

In other news I somehow ended up going down Michiru's route, which I personally feel should have ended when

    Spoiler

She climbed out of the coffin. Not liking where this heart transplant plot is going.

I really enjoyed Eden littleshogun, though the drama is a little forced it was something I just couldn't put down.

The two action choices. I've never really been a fan of action in literature so that's the reason I never got into it in VNs either. But as a matter of fact I quite enjoyed the action scenes in MuvLuv Alternative. So there's that :vanilla:

Fate is worth it just for the Tiger Dojo! If you hop onto Beasts Lair (no links so hope I'll get away with this) Jacktheinfinate101 and co have made the ultimate FSN package putting the new Real Nua stuff into the original and using Resolve/Mirror Moons TL. I've not read this version myself but it looks to be quite epic! Do it for Tohsaka, she is justice! :wahaha:

In case Pulltop really did that, then it won't be matter much because NarKarma itself was all age VN in the first place, and Pulltop blunder was they did cut the H scenes for overseas release.

MoeNovel were too busy catering for all the 12 year old French girls were they not? :wahaha:

Ahem. Thanks for sharing V, it was an interesting read.

I like many others, I have been stung by a SP KS campaign or two, the most horrid of which was for WAS ~Lepidoptera no Sunadokei~ campaign for which they ultimately just gave up with in the end.

I just cannot be bothered to go near anything they're involved with anymore, they're a bunch of cowboys and see you next Tuesdays!

At least in Family Project we didn't have this Diao-chan here XDDD - beware of the brain bleach XDDDDD. And yes, for Diao-chan he did use his usual tone (Hozuki like tone).

Why did I click that link... once you see you cannot unsee... maybe links like this should expire after a day or two? :wahaha:

I've been reading Grisaia, and I know others complain about the long common route but I'm really enjoying all the day to day stuff.

Plus I'm loving that the MC is not some weak moron but someone skilled and with attitude.

This holds extremely for my generation and similar (I'm almost 30), which forced me to hide my hobby till this day. This goes without saying that is very stressful, and unable to show others my tastes without being finger pointed.

I completely agree with what you're saying Kyousuke. I'm also of a similar age (32) and there's no way I can discuss with others about my hobbies without being labelled as weird. That said I believe it's all about your environment and the people that surround you. During my first (and only) research assistant position I found that I could talk to colleagues about these things; although many of my colleagues at the time we're Chinese. Since I had to give up my ambition of a lectureship (due to an unplanned pregnancy) and move into the defence industry for a permanent job there's just no way I can discuss these hobbies with anyone anymore; and I find that unbelievably crushing. Like you said if it's football or rugby then there's conversation, everything else just raises eyebrows. :amane:

  15. Thanks wei123, since I have up on episode six then I've probably not solved too much. I'll keep the game in my mind, but my back log is sooo big and my reading speed so slow I dunno when/if I'll get around to reading it. I remember looking at the kickstarter page and thinking the game looked like Hellsing and Fate Stay Night had a baby.

I would like to say the same thing, but Himawari broke me and I will no longer trust anything 'moe'.

I got all excited about Himawari until I read the posts below, thought you were implying it turned into a mind f, shame.

While on the subject of shame, sucks that I missed the kickstarter... Guess it'll be another game to add to the wish list for a steam sale.

The battles are fantastic, the scale of the story is engrossing, the characters are all fleshed out and really enjoyable to read, and the plot overall, while not the most complicated thing ever, is just so goddamn well executed. I wish I could gush about Dies for a while longer, but this isn't the place to do it.

Is it anything like the anime, I literally laughed my ass off when the

big giant golden skulled thing the size of a tower block was attacking the MC, I just had to stop watching.

Oh and while I have you quoted, thanks VirginSmasher for suggesting Saya no Uta in Happeness+'s suggest a short VN thread. It was a truly thrilling and amazing read that I just couldn't put down. So sick and twisted, I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed it. The music that plays every time Saya is on screen as the early story unfolds is just so chilling and really helped convey a sense of unease.

I actually disliked the ending (Koji buys a single bullet) after having spent the few hours reading building a bond with the two, I guess, villain MCs. Though I'm missing some CGs so will go back for the other endings tonight. Hopefully there's a slightly happy ending, though it's bound to be twisted and hopefully related to Saya's reason for existing.

Cannot wait, but I'm in work right now! :rubycry:

Alright, finished Kikokugai, and man, I loved it. The setting was really cool, the writing was fantastic, and the art in the remake is just... :Chocola:

Thank you so much Dergonu for mentioning Kikokugai, I was amazed at how well the world was explained for such a short VN. For the two evenings I spent reading Kikokugai the story certainly packed a punch!

    MuvLuv Alternative finished!

Well, and that's it. And as always, thank you all so much for being there to exchange thoughts and impressions. It definitely makes this all the more enjoyable :sachi:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Thyndd, like you I agree that without fully reading Extra/Unlimited the reader wouldn't be fully invested into the dialogue of Alternative; and therefore not appreciate the overall message.

I did consider changing another favourite on VNDB to 9.9 to make MLA sit at the top in my list as it was a truly wonderful reading experience... except the two sleepless nights!
