  1. Because I promised to eventually post my full collection, heres most of what I've collected over the last few years of working and scrouging to pay off school and then splurging the rest after all my expenses were paid. Also included my two wall scrolls that I picked up at the con because it was about time I got new ones - had a pair of Haruhi ones for over 4 years now haha. Also excuse the crappy picture quality; cell phone is all I got.
  2. Sorry, I've been away for the last few days (moved back to my old home and will be finishing my last year of school for degree, so I've been busy packing and unpacking/cleaning things, on top of a Con that I went to today). I'll try and post responses and read over everyone's comments later this week. Too tired to read anything that would require my brain to think tonight, would rather spew words. But I look forward to some of your responses.
  3. I want to see a discussion as to why people like or dislike this show. I had an argument with my younger brother about this show - from my own personal opinion of having read a good chunk of the manga (upto the present seasons material), and honestly ... I don't get why the show garners as good of a review as it does. I understand that it caters to a wide audience by introducing multiple female stereotypes while catering to hetero male ego-centric audiences - one guy gets all the ladies (which is an increasingly common theme these days). But from my own standpoint, the story, outside of the little "arcs" if you will for each of the girls, is very bland to me. I've not seen much that would have me thinking years down the line "this was a memorable story that pulled at my emotional strings and has me hyped for the next episode". Now correct me if I'm wrong here, but outside of the girls arcs, just how far has the show really progressed as we are currently well into way of the third season? Maybe I'm forgetting things here (which only adds to the whole point of the show not being very memorable), but its only by the third season where we get to see a lot of the back story that starts to drive this whole "awakening of these goddesses" business. I don't know, I honestly don't understand why it's as good as people claim it to be. Granted a lot of harems may possibly follow that "set up the flag" business, which is alright given they try to move steadily along in a general direction. But it took 3 seasons to get to this point for TWGOK, and I'm not sure why it's hyped to the lengths that it is today. Share your opinions on the topic. I'm interested to hear what other people have to say on both sides of the fence. I will say this however, please don't try and persuade me on why I am wrong and why I should change my way of thinking. I've given the manga a good enough read and have watched at least the first season fully before coming to this conclusion, so I'm definitely not jumping on a bandwagon and hatin' for no reason (though hate is a strong word, just a general dislike). That being said, I respect other peoples opinions and won't tell them they're wrong to like it; it's their own choice. I'm just curious as to why people like the show and perhaps it will give me some insight as to why they do and maybe, just maybe, from there I can readjust my own thinking with differing opinions.
  4. Over the past year, the only books I've been reading religiously are the Commissar Ciaphas Cain novels from Warhammer 40k. Read other books whenever I get the chance, but I've been glued to my ereader as of late so I've not frequented the bookstores as often as I used to.
  5. Wow ... I could honestly go on quite a bit. The sole reason why I usually try new series is most often based on the OP or EDs, so I could probably list quite a few EDs/OPs that are special to me D: Gundam 08th MS Team My favorite gundam in all the different universes (U.C. best universe). I've got a lot of my favorite mechs from the U.C time line (kampfer being my favorite mobile suit of all), but the "grunt" vibe of the show made me love it for what it was. And the OP put it into good perspective. Cowboy Bebop OP A very classy and jazz filled opening, which is very unique given it's time and even to this day. And I can only list off 2 videos at a time :v I've got Evangelion, Rozen Maiden, Trigun, EF~ A Tale of Memories, Magi, Aria, just to name a few D:
  6. That actually looks like a decent game. Shame that its JPN only. And yeah, I've been seeing a lot of nudes on Danbooru as well haha
  7. I hope this is the right subforum for this... But lately I've been seeing a lot of people talking about Kantai Collection. From what I've gathered from quick browser gme, it looks like "ship" girls (so I'm guessing it's similar in novelty to Strike Witches???). Short of that, any help figuring what this thing is would be much appreciated. All I know is that it has been getting a bit of hype as of late.
  8. Using my google-fu, I couldn't find anything short of who drew it: http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=182493 From what I can tell from the tags (Mecha x Girl) it's original work.
  9. Dawn of War 2 Retribution: Elite Mod (still) and picked up Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons on the 3DS market place, anddd Space Hulk which came out today.
  10. I don't think I saw Hajime no Ippo or Tokyo Ravens on that list - but they're airing, right? I'll see if I can watch that. Otherwise, a few shows like IS2, Outbreak Company, Nagi no Asukara, maybe Galilei Donna and a few other stragglers in the bunch.
  11. Yeah my younger brother sent me this news. I threw $10 at them and they in turn spewed out those games and the soundtracks as well. I've got Origin because I used to play SwtoR as well as the Sims... but ehhhhhh
  12. because it would be heretical if you didnt? AND BECAUSE HERESY LEADS TO EXECUTION GUARDSMAN. Also Far Cry Instincts was amazing and possibly one of the best games on the Xbox. Didn't like the 2nd all that much (they took out the predator mode which was BADASS), but I heard good things about the third. Haven't read much else into it however, as I've not had the chance.
  13. Play something like Munchkin. Easy to get into, fun and competitive.
  14. Why would it shatter your dreams? Madoka is an excellent anime, non?
  15. Both are tasty. Xiao is revealing but if I had to only pick one, it'd be Mistral. Ive thought of getting her before.

  17. I have one more of those Shining Tears/Hearts figures (below), I just have to clean out the stuff in my old room before I move back in. I've been tempted to buy another one on several occasions throughout the year at conventions but I've yet to do so. We'll see, I've got one coming up in August so I might see another one of Tony's figures to graces the shelves, so to speak :P/> There's actully a quite a few more. I've another shelf that runs along another wall, a few that are on my bookshelf as well as a few figmas I've yet to unpack (mostly Persona 4). And sorry bout the camera, it's my camera phone and galaxies are notorious for having poor quality in low lighting conditions (high noise and poor over-flash). Compounded by the fact that it's in the basement, with lower lighting conditions, it makes for some pretty poor photos ): I've been looking for a Luka figure myself ): I want to buy one but I want it to be one of those larger figures. Forever looking.
  18. And a billion hours to set up. Jesus. We just bought it and were doing a trial run to see how everything sort of plays out and it took forever to set up every little thing.
  19. In a month I'll be moving back home with my 'rents for my final year of university. So I packed up the figures I brought with me to my home away from home (as well at the ones I've purchased in the time I was there). The BEST advice I can give to anyone who has massed some collection while living at home/before moving out is to keep your boxes. It'll help prevent damage to your figs. Also, keep boxes in crawl spaces but have them covered or even better yet, in a container to prevent humidity/water from warping and damaging those boxes. Most of the figs at my second house posted above (save for a fig of Reimu and Patchouli from Touhou series, as well as Faris Nyannyan from Steins:gate). I've got a bunch more at my home (some pictured above with addition of new ones) back at my rents place but I don't feel like taking a photo of the room because my brother "commandeered" it while I was away because it was the most seclusive/quietest room in the house and is also has the best temperament (cold in the summer, cozy and warm in the winter). So the place is a mess and a lot of my stuff is misplaced around the house. When I move back in fully within a month, I'll see if I can take a pic then. Until, that's just an idea of the set up.
  20. I've actually been enjoying Free! despite some of the obvious nabs at fanservice (but hey, let the fan girls have some fun too). But this parody is too good to pass up.
  21. I'm currently playing Totori on the Vita. Just had the swimsuit contest event and i couldn't stop laughing. I also just decided to spontaneously buy a 3DS, and I picked up Fire Emblem: Awakening, Etrian Odyssey (I hope i spelled that right) and Animal Crossing New Leaf. I've only played Fire Emblem thus far though, because I love the few games I've played of the series and it was essentially that reason why I decided to buy the 3DS finally (and Tharja because she is absolute <3)
  22. Hopefully this is the right forum to post this ... I'm curious as to how many of you collect figurines (and to what extent). Part of my issue of having worked all throughout most of my life, and now going into my full time career, is my inability to refrain from buying gorgeous figurines. I like having things on display (this also applies to things like collectors editions of movies and games), so naturally, I've built up a collection over the years. I'm moving out hopefully within a year, provided I finish my last year of uni after having taken a year off for an internship (paid, which also fuels the obsession). I'll probably buy a whole set of new cabinets to break in the new place when I eventually move just to display the stuff. Anyway, to the point; do you guys collect? What are your recent purchases, or better yet - show us your purchases or collection? I've only got 4 pre-orders this year ... Deep Sea Girl Miku Atelier Totori Patchouli Knowledge Atelier Meruru And my fingers also itching to buy this one... It's a terrible habit but I can't help but buy these shiny things - I'm like some sort of Magpie when it comes to collectibles :/
