As for the general opinion, compared to HatsuKoi there's no much that stated the negative point of Hoshiori other than one review. So if you (Some readers out there) still afraid of HatsuKoi, then rest assure that it'll be fine here although you may find it boring though because of less drama (Just think of HatsuKoi drama if you felt that it's not dramatic enough). While most of Hoshiori's aspects are improved from HatsuKoi, unfortunately there's no more background variation like back at HatsuKoi and there's no much side characters that did have sprites. I say this because as bad as HatsuKoi's reputation is to a degree, at least they did the technical aspect right in that it felt more dynamic with Yuuma facing back and forth with background change. But anyway the good VN shouldn't depend on that kind of gimmick alone, and besides it's just something that I want to point out.
As for the review, there's three with one of those were the one that was quite critical that I mentioned in which it might be understandable seeing that he thinks Touko as Mary Sue. Another one is from MDZ who is Koiresort translator, and another one is quite long and full of spoiler from MAL page (The first part is talk about three heroines (Natsuki, Rikka and Misa), while the second part talk about the rest of the heroines (Sora, Touko, and Marika), and the third part talk about side characters along with the MC and the technical aspects). As for the one who did have the least spoiler, I would recommended MDZ's one if you want to read some review before trying Hoshiori here.
While this is at most a charage, we also have the plot in that our MC Ryousuke was trying to make the best Tanabata festival at his school, and that he want to be an architect after seeing one of the good building in his childhood. While it's pretty cliche, at least the goal is already set up compared to HatsuKoi and that it's quite firm (The bigger scale here is definitely help though). As for the girls, here's all of those below including the seiyuu as usual.
    1. Shinozaki Marika

Also know as Trip's favorite heroine, and Ryousuke's childhood friend before he's going to Kanagawa and transferring back to Shionagi. While her setting is quite basic, the way of the writer showing on how much Ryousuke care for Marika in the past is quite nice to see, especially if we knew that Marika did suffer asthma and causing her to be quite shy at her childhood. Because of her asthma, she decided to learn swimming and as the result nowadays she's quite capable to teach the children to swim. Her seiyuu is Aji Sanma who as we know voiced Mochizuki Rina aka Rinarin from Fureraba, Kuchiki Touko from Kara no Shoujo, Fuuma Tama from Nekonin, Hinai Paulette from Maitetsu, Kihanobara Ethica from Tokyo Necro, Reimei Kaho from Haretaka, and Heroina di Caballero istaa (Still quite mouthful name) from Kirikoi.
    2. Okihara Misa

While she didn't teach swimming like Marika, she's quite capable at swimming because she's been like that since her childhood. Also while you may remember HatsuKoi's Midori from her face, she's not student council president here (We never know whether the president is male or female). Anyway she's took a liking to the ocean a bit too much, and she's a single member of Natural Club in that she'd like to researching marine life. She's the local aquarium owner daughter, Ryousuke's upperclassman, and that she's quite sad knowing that the aforementioned aquarium is closed down. Her seiyuu is Kanau (Real name Ozaki Mami) in which her role is Aritagawa Nio from Loca Love, Aso Kiriri from Tokyo Necro, Mihagino Ayano from Kanobito, Yomise Tokino from Hello Lady, and Amabane Madoka from Love Cube.
    3. Narusawa Rikka

A talented pianist whose her face is resembled Touma Kazusa from WA2, and that she's quite a loner so much that only Natsuki that was manged to talk to her. At least until Ryousuke tried to get close to her in which our Rikka did perceive Ryousuke as the stalker and want to hit on her, which of course Ryousuke did try his best to deny that. After her meeting with Ryousuke, she seemed started to open up, in that she start to be happy around her companion. Her seiyuu is Ryouko Ono (Her alias here (Kitami Rikka) is The Danza to Rikka here) in which she did voicing Tsukiyama Sena back at Noble Works, Mochizuki Amane back at Konosora, Kitajima Kede back at Sono Hanabira franchise, Andou Misaki back at Chrono Clock, Toriumi Alice back at Hapymaher, Riche Eden back at Evenicle, and Akahito Tamamo back at Hello Lady.
    4. Yukimura Touko

Another transfer student beside Ryousuke, and like the cat she's quite whimsical. She's quite skilled at sport, so much that she managed to beat all of the sports club captain club on the first day she come to the each of the clubs. Obviously the club will do anything to recruit Touko, although unfortunately for the clubs Touko find them annoying and she's ask Ryousuke to help her. Other thing to note is that she's like to skip the school and stay in the old school building, and that she can't really operate newer model of smartphone. Her seiyuu is Arisugawa Miyabi in which she voiced Houraisen Runa from Sono Hanabira franchise, Kazato Yoru from Konosora, Mehisha from Soukoku no Arterial, Narumi Sakura from Supipara, Rinka from Suki Suki, Kyougetsu Sakuya from Kajiri Kamui Kagura, and Suzuki Arisa from Japanese School Life.
    5. Ousaka Sora

Sort of the main heroine because her story is related to the star and that Hoshiori here is obviously did have star as the main theme (Translator's Notes: Hoshi means Star). As for her character, she's talk less unless the topic is about star in which she started to become talkative, and that she's like to cut the vegetable in form of space object (ie star and moon). Like Misa, she's also the only member although obviously her club is Astronomy one, and that she's Ryousuke's underclassman. There's more to her, but it'll be at her route later. Her seiyuu is Kirihana in which she voiced Ayachi Nene from Sanoba Witch, Fia from Amayui Castle Meisters, Kodachi Nagi from Daitoshoukan, Lena Lichtenauer from Senren Banka, Mitsukasa Ayase from Riddle Joker, Hachiroku from Maitetsu, and Ikoma Murasaki from Phantom Trigger.
    6. Segawa Natsuki

The first one whose quite close to Ryousuke along with Marika, although his meeting with Natsuki is quite awkward though. Since her first meeing with Ryousuke, we know that she's quite passionate with take a moment into her camera, although I understand though if you may find her annoying like archetypical school journalist club. Her goal is different from the journalist though, in which she want to make the best year book there. Her seiyuu is Momoi Ichigo, in which she voiced Fujikawa Runa from HatsuKoi (The only returning seiyuu from HatsuKoi here), Dorothy Davenport aka DD from Chrono Clock, Lacrille from Madou Koukaku, Tilca from Venus Blood Frontier, and Emilia Karimov from Hatsukoi Sankaime.
As for the songs, like I mentioned this time each heroines did have two songs in which each songs did used at the climax of the heroines route, one for the transition from School Arc to After Story and another to the ending song of the routes. So overall compared to HatsuKoi tone work's did add all of the unique ending songs for all of the heroines, in which it's definitely an improvement compared to HatsuKoi in which back then only two heroines (Runa and Maya) that did have their own unique ED songs.
I think that's all for what I can say in regard of Hoshiori's heroines (Along with the seiyuu) and the review, so feel free to discuss the VN at this thread. As for my concluding word here, I like that finally we have more better received tone work's VN being translated thanks to Tsurezure and therefore I'm content with it.

I finished the Ai's true/secret route in Tsujiou-san no Virgin Road. IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING! And that PLOT TWIST! I now also understand why its called Virgin Road, in japan the expression describes (used spoiler because its relatable to part of the plot):

To be honest with Jun'ai Road especially on Ai's route i was a bit disappointed with the protagonist, but they completely fixed that for me in this fan disk, and coupled with this story, now it all just seems like awesome character development, his pretty cool when it all comes down to it, and pretty surprising, amazing even at times!
This true route is also comparable with the Agave/Kouyuki Route in Majikoi in terms of plot, action, build up and suspense, its the best one by far as far as the Tsujiou series is concerned. To go into detail, in terms of Plot the Agave one may have been more complex to be honest, but in terms of build up and suspense i believe this one takes the cake.
Character wise i will also like to mention that a lot of the cast shined in this one, they managed to really make us cheer for most of our Shonan delinquents and bring them all to the spot light. Even some none delinquent ones really shined or turned out surprising, without spoiling one really big surprise was Kouchou for instance.
When i started this novel i also thought that Tsujiou and Maki where at Itadaki Tatsuko's level (when she's in her serious mode), but i was wrong, as far as strength and technique goes they are definitely people who have past the wall of human strength and are probably above most 4 devas (except Momoyo of course). Them and Makoto (which so far this series indicates she's even worse) are probably some of the most powerful characters in this series universe (there's also another really powerful character introduced in this fan disk but its better i leave her discovery to you :p)....
As for now... I'll see if there's any follow up in Minato Carnival FD, if not, will proceed with doing the new character's route in the Tsujidou series in Minato Carnival FD.
To wrap up, i honestly think that translator was to quick to disregard the fandisk, if he would have gave it a chance i would really be surprised for him to say its not worth translating. But each to its own, if your able to play non-translated VN's you really need to play this one, Jun'ai Road was a nice read, but this is a step up in every regard, its very well done, and its a lot more action packed and with an amazing build up during many of its routes. The after stories (except for Ai's true ending) don't really add much are fairly simple and short, but Azusa's, Yoiko's and especially the true/secret Ai route are amazing! Thus i leave you with some of my favorite scene CG's as well (in spoiler but i will try to pick some that don't spoil to much):

You play as Ashlynn Phillips. Ashlynn is suspicious, but desperate to make this new life work. Her life on the surface was hard. She spent most of it fighting for everything and going without. Now she's safe. Her mother is safe. They have food, water, and shelter. Nothing will get in the way of that ever again, if she has anything to say about it. Or will she change her mind when she sees just what living in Camden can mean?

    Jude Myers
You can usually find him at the bar with Sam, the closest thing to family he has left. Or in the greenhouse tending to the plants with loud grunge music from the 1990s shaking the walls. If you see him with any tech, you should probably assume it’s contraband and say nothing. Romanceable

Handsome, charming, friendly, and utterly useless at his job. Has a huge crush on the grumpy librarian, and spends his time at the library when he isn’t napping at work.

Once in a lifetime a dream becomes reality. I'm making a Manga. This is based after the Visual Novel I'm creating. I'm raising a bit of money to hire some help to complete it and this will help with the game also. It looks great already!... Lots of images, a video, music, and a game.

Check out the link and if you like what you see, donating even a dollar is a big help: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...d-visual-novel

Keep the forum alive by posting on the topic. I'll get buried by the other well established and popular topics. Omni Link is AAA in quality and is definitely grass-roots. Even the theme song was sung by a family member. I should mention I'm so grateful to all those who helped me get this far.

This is a brief copy paste about the story from the Kickstarter page:

"Experience the journey of new and interesting characters with their own personal struggles and motives. Everyone is tied together in meaningful realistic ways although placed in an impossible situation. What is that situation? To defeat the "Virus". Code-name for the Apocalypse you think you know. However, this is not your average end of life scenario. The story will have twists and turns and unexpected plots. The story will suggest to you what to believe, and we hope you will be fooled.
It all starts when our ace pilot Keb comes across a vessel of unknown origin. Through a misunderstanding, and a deathly explosion, he finds himself surprisingly alive and at the mercy of Dawn."

Basically the whole thing revolves around some kind of super realistic VRMMO.

Instead of meeting everyday at a club after school, you meet online in game
Instead of being trapped in a magical world, people can't log out of a game
Instead of going to some public toilet in a park, people have sex online
Instead of real elves, you have your friends playing as elves in a game
    etc.

It's nothing new, but with VR becoming a reality the setting has become popular again.
(the game itself is still a VN, you usually dont actually play the MMO parts)

    Edit:
just remembered, even Yu-Gi-Oh had something like this

It stands for a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Game.
Meaning such a game has a huge part in the story.
If not with with VNs, you should have heard of some anime that use such a setting (.hack,  Swort Art Online, Accel World etc.)

    And we're back.

Okay, time for some real talk.

I am currently very busy IRL. Something has come up that is keeping me rather occupied, and that will be the case for all of August. I'll spare you the details of what this is, but it's very important to me, and takes priority over my hobbies.

Anyways, because of this, I can't get all that much TL work done on this project during this time. And on top of that, I'm going to Japan in September to study abroad, and will be there for half a year. I am not sure how my internet situation will be over there, and I also don't know how much free time I'll have. So, this obviously means, TL progress will start to slow down. A lot.

Now, this does not mean I'm going to abandon this project. I still plan on finishing this, though as you can probably tell, I can't meet a 2017 deadline, since I'll have my hands full for the next 6 months.

For the moment, my plan is this:

I will do my absolute best to get the Minato route fully TLed before I leave for Japan. Or I will at the very least get it finished after a bit of time in Japan. I only have 2700 lines remaining on that, so it won't require all that much time. I will definitely aim for a 2017 release for Minato's route, at the very least.

After that though, I might have to put off the rest of the routes for a while. If I do happen to have a lot of free time in Japan, I'll definitely start TLing when I'm there. But, my studies comes first, so if I find myself with very little free time, I can't exactly throw away my degree just to get this TL done a little faster.

Which means, worst case scenario, Minato's route comes out, and I'll have to put the project on hiatus until Febuary of 2018, when I get back to Norway again.

I don't know what I'll be thinking 6 months from now, but at the moment, I definitely want to finish this project, even if it takes a long time.
I'll keep you updated on how the TL is going throughout of August, and will make one final update before I leave for Japan. (That update will hopefully be me hitting the 100% mark on Minato's route, but I can't make any promises.)
Thanks for sticking with me folks, see you in the next update.

It is a kinetic visual novel in terms of story, as there is only one ending.

Game Design Document ★ Public Script ★ Concept Art

Kotachi Asterio wants to help people that can’t fight for themselves. However, he isn't some sort of superhero- he can just see things other people can't. During the day, he goes to high school with his best friend, Ophi. At night, the two fight off specters, monsters that lurk in shadows and can harm people.
Kotachi has been able to see specters since he was about 10. When his grandfather died, he was given a wooden box that was simply inscribed with “to whoever can grasp it”. Inside were a pair of white revolvers- however, his parents couldn’t see them, leading Kotachi to realize the revolvers were special. He finds that his revolvers are actually forged from the constellation Perseus, and can be used to fight of specters, monsters that fester in dark places. The game starts with Kotachi and his best friend, Ophi, fighting off specters when they stumble upon a talking fox who claims to be an Aligner, someone who fights specters, and makes the two boys her apprentices. They meet several other characters as they all train to become certified Aligners from C.O.I.N., an organization that employs Aligners to dispel and research specters. Throughout the game, it becomes apparent that some constellations actually embody human forms, and are a group known as the Zodiac- a group that was previously thought to be legend, as they haven’t been seen for decades. Kotachi is one of the few people in the world with a weapon strong enough to dispel the specters controlling each of the Zodiac, and thus can become their Protector, someone who shields the constellations from specters and is able to invoke their power in battle.

    ✩ Kotachi Asterio
Kotachi almost always has a grin on his face and, when he isn’t being lazy, he’s typically upbeat. However, he’s not very outgoing, and Ophi is his only real friend until Vulpe comes along and forces him to meet new people. Kotachi would be perfectly content staying a nobody and destroying specters on his own time, as he hates change. He's a junior in high school and has no clue what his major in college will be- his backup plan is becoming a "professional" urban explorer.

    ✩ Ophi Lira
Ophi is a very standoffish character who is both distrusting and generally doesn’t like the rest of the cast, save for Kotachi. However, aside from their “teacher”, Vulpe, Ophi is the most experienced in the group, as he’s been able to see specters “for as long as [he] can remember”. Even with Kotachi, though, there are things he doesn’t like to talk about- specifically his family, or lack thereof. However, through all of his rude and snide comments directed at Kotachi, Ophi does care about him.

In game, Ophi is an optional love interest.

    ✩ Ayane Miu
Ayane is seemingly cold and standoffish, but she doesn’t like people who waste her time or slack off. She is the tentative valedictorian of their class and also the incognito PTA president while also learning the ropes of running a national bank, her father's business. It's safe to say she doesn't exactly like to rest.

    ✩ Leos Coronil
Leos tries to get along with everyone. He’s an easy going guy, but his calm nature makes him the target of bullying, specifically from football players who think he’s crazy for seeing specters. Within the group, he’s the median, and thinks more with his heart than with his brain. He’s the ace of the soccer team and prefers the company of people as opposed to being alone.

    ✩ Riko Asterio
Riko is Kotachi’s adopted older sister. She used to be close with Kotachi when they were younger, but a failure to stay in touch or even visit after she moved into a dorm for high school caused the two to grow apart. Riko is mostly the opposite of her brother- she’s outgoing, vibrant, and constantly trying new things. She’s never still except when busy with work and loves to be around others. Most of all, she likes teasing Kotachi.

    ✩ Dania Truman
Dania doesn’t get out a lot, not since her grandfather passed away. She used to volunteer at the C.O.I.N. outpost with him, healing Aligners, so when he passed away she kept at it, even if she became more reserved. Dania is timid and doesn’t talk a lot to strangers, but isn’t quiet- instead, she only talks a lot to people she’s comfortable being around because of her shyness.

    ★ Overview
Hey guys! This is my newest project, Asterism. It's an RPG VN (i.e. an RPG with VN elements) that is being made in Ren'Py. It centers around Kotachi and the rest of the cast training and becoming certified Aligners, and eventually him becoming the Protector of the Zodiac. I've already had a few questions about it before, so note- this game is astronomy based, not astrology based. The main cast all use weapons forged from constellations such as Perseus, Serpens, Aquila, and more- each weapon was placed on Earth long ago by ancient powers. Each of the weapons can be upgraded. Later on, Kotachi begins rescuing members of the Zodiac from specters that have infected them- once he has successfully rescued a constellation, he is able to summon them to help fight off specters. The fights in the game are classic JRPG turn-based style and there are multiple dungeons in the game.

As previously mentioned, there are some boys love elements in it, i.e. Kotachi can end up with a boy, but the story itself is very low on romance and it's optional. However, there is only one ending, so choices only change dialogue and some scenes. The word count so far is about 60k words, but the full game after dungeons will be about 10+ hours long. There will be a demo released sometime in 2019, but the full game will be commercial, around $15-20. This will be playable on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.

Obvisouly in the West there is huge overlap between the two communities..... but even so I have met some people who are only VN players (and of course most anime fans are not VN players). I wonder how this is in Japan and if the situation is the same as here? Visual novels I think have a stronger presence in the Japanese otaku culture compared to the Western otaku culture so maybe it's not as unheard of for an otaku to only be interested in VNs and not anime (like it is in the west?) Are the two marketed for the same crowd or is there a Vn fanbase that is separate from the anime fanbase? Does anyone have any knowledge about this?

Most kids grow up watching anime and reading manga in Japan, but those who become true otakus number about three in twenty.   VNs are generally only played by adult otakus, which make up a smaller percentage of the total population.  Most VN players in Japan are already general otakus, from what my friend tells me, because ero visual novels are considered to be 'deeper in the otaku abyss' than manga, anime, or LNs.  Non-ero VNs are more accessible but also are primarily on console or portable mediums, and so they are more likely to be played by younger otakus and even younger non-otakus there.  However, most of those are otomege or all-ages ports of eroge, lol.
Edit: Something to keep in mind about the fanbase here is that OELVNs are much more accessible in general than Japanese VNs, meaning that there are a lot of people who start from there and expand into Japanese VNs without having become anime or manga fans first.

I recommend Steins;Gate's Steam version, you'll get the full enjoyment from the game and won't miss anything. As far as I could tell from the Japanese audio, the game is decently translated. Plus it doesn't have that many tricky Japanese references, to holidays or customs for example. But it has a lot of scientific, specialised and meme terms, so it has a term appendix too.

The English version of Steins;Gate is wonderful compared to some of the visual novels that have been translated and put out on to the market. Almost all of the comedic and dark aspects of the original are in the English version. It was pretty great in my opinion.

I've been thinking of getting Steins;Gate on Steam, but I'm concerned about something. What is the translation quality of the English version? Is the translation accurate and true to the original Japanese dialogue? I don't want to go through another repeat of Chrono Clock and Libra of the Vampire Princess, where the translation is either altered or barely readable.

I didn't notice anything as bad as the text was in Libra, actually I didn't see any noticable grammer or typing errors (or anything weird sounding). English isn't my native language though so I might have overlooked something.
I can't say anything about the accuracy to the jap. text, I didn't even start learning it when I played it.
