  1. I also couldn't help but notice Koiken Otome, which appears to have both beautiful art and kick ass ladies. How could I refuse?
  2. Dangan Ronpa 2, but that's gonna be a long time, I'm sure. I might actually have to just read the LP.
  3. Dangan Ronpa has totally consumed my life.
  4. Rapelay, IIRC, wasn't so much a visual novel as a flat-out rape simulation game. You could follow the girls around, then kidnap them, knock them up, etc. It was pretty intense. It received the attention it did because of its ability to be purchased on English-speaking Amazon, according to Wikipedia. How people can crucify games like this but then play things such as Manhunt doesn't really make sense to me.
  5. I sort of feel the same way? Sometimes I'll pick up a VN because of its erotic value and then I start to get into the story and think of the sex scenes as more of a chore. But I suppose that's what the CG catalogue/scene play options are for
  6. I want the pussy wagon from Kill Bill.
  7. Jewel Knights Crusaders, while being one of my first visual novels and holding a special place in my heart, probably contained two of my worst: The loli route was full of the usual high-pitched wailing and gross bloody deflowering, and the villain route was filled with pissing and I believe domination? It was all very gross.
  8. What are your thoughts on traditional gameplay elements in visual novels? Do you like them? Do you feel they're unnecessary? Would adding more of these elements to visual novels increase their popularity in the west? While somewhat niche, Agarest Wars and Phoenix Wright have managed to appeal to a lot of people. Personally, I really enjoy games that can mix gameplay and traditional VN elements. Particularly in action genre- sound effects and flashing blades are great, but actually getting to do a fight is even better. One of my favorite parts of Princess Waltz was the fact that all of the intense fights that were described were accompanied with a card battle fight. And (on normal) those things were pretty tough, and felt appropriate. Everyone else?
  9. I got the game on the first day of release, and I've been playing almost daily. It's nice to have a game that you can play daily, without worrying about having to 'finish' it. I've been working mostly on paying off the house debts at the moment, though I should start buying more furniture to wake up that stupid llama. I want that gem furniture.
  10. I read a couple reviews and most people seem to be praising it, but.. Even with the ability to censor the scat scenes I could never really find myself entertained by this, regardless of how good the story may be. I'm quite fascinated by things such as Saw, Battle Royale, and Dangan Ronpa, but when you combine the violence and bathroom aspects with sex and humiliation, it's just too much for me. I would read a summary online of the plot, but nothing more. Nothing against those who want to read it, of course. However, if this does get released, I hope it's not one of those things that casts the VN community in a negative light. I feel like this is a title internet journalists would swarm. Not that that's a reason to prevent a localization. I'm quite intrigued to see if it will drum up enough interest for MangaReader to follow through. I feel like at this point I'm rambling, sorry.
  11. Out of morbid curiosity I decided to look up a little bit about the game, and...frankly I'm appalled. This goes beyond Saw's "totally fucked up but still entertaining" boundaries and heads straight into flat-out snuff. It doesn't even seem like the 'psychological thriller' it's been described as. I'm not even sure I could be compelled to try it. As for the poll, I would vote, but it seems you must be registered, and making an account just for one poll seems unnecessary.
  12. Handle (the one you use or plan to use): Twitchycolt Positions you can fill: Editor, Proofreader Types of projects (VNs) preferred: Modern Fantasy (Princess Waltz, Fate series), standard fantasy, comedy, horror, mystery Availability (edit this one as you get involved in projects): I'm completely free at the moment. VNs most interested in producing an ftl for: Nothing specific at the moment, but I would love for there to be more English games with male/male romance available. Motivation for joining in on ftl: I've always had an interested in translation since I was young and just starting to get into anime. I hope to become fluent in Japanese or Korean out of a desire to translate as a career, but in the meantime I would like to help however I can! Conditions (any additional conditions, under which you will or won't work): No snuff or rape scenes. I'm also not very interested in titles with high f/f sexual content, but romance is fine.
  13. Wow, that sounds like a nightmare. Did you happen to receive the PM I sent? I'm still interested in working as an editor if you need one.
  14. I do some tabletop roleplaying, mostly Pathfinder and Marvel Heroics. As for card games, I play a little big of magic, but Yugioh is really more my choice. And while not really traditional, Gloom is an excellent card game that my friends and I always have fun playing. Board games...it varies. I really don't have the patience to sit through a whole game of Monopoly, and a lot of the interesting looking ones run up to $50. For anyone interested in tabletop gaming though, I would definitely recommend the show "Tabletop" on Youtube, produced by Wil Wheaton.
  15. Well, I think part of that depends on what you consider to be funny. Do you like slice of life scenarios? Dark humor? Dramatic irony?
  16. I've got: Phoenix Wright 1, 3, and Apollo Justice- those count, right? Princess Debut Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom Sweet Fuse (not mine just yet, but once it comes out in August) I want: 9/9/9 Virtue's Last Reward I think that's it.
  17. I haven't gotten to play many BL games (darn language barrier) or read a lot of original works just yet. At the moment I'm playing Dramatical Murder, though, and I'm loving it so far. Oh, man, I never would have the patience for that. Some of those are just...yikes. x.x
  18. Yay, more welcomes. 's nice to meet you all! Definitely. FF13 is worth the time- I spent about 60ish hours on it my first time through the game, and that was without clearing all of the content/getting max level. I really do want to finish Fate/Stay Night, but getting back to where I left off is...a bit of a daunting task. @_@ 9 and 10 are some of the better games, I think, both story and battle system-wise. I can't wait for 10 and 10-2's remake! I did play Chrono Trigger (but never beat it, got pretty close though), but not Vandal Hearts or Ogre Battle. For SRPGs, I've played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and its sequel, Disgaea 2 (gotta try some of the others), Chaos Wars (that...was a thing), Shining Force (BUT I CAN NEVER GET PAST THE SECOND LEVEL), most of the English Fire Emblem games. I've played a good deal of Nippon Ichi's SRPGS besides D2 but the grinding really puts me off after a point. The company that localizes the Tales games currently does them on a by-ear basis because they never know if they can afford to bring it over. They can't afford to pay for the original voice acting. And honestly, I prefer English in most instances anyways. That would be very nice.~
  19. Thank you for the welcomes.~ I'll give them a look over, it's always good to see more BL games reaching an English audience. Prince Maker also seems particularly interesting; I've always been fond of the Princess Maker games, at least in concept (only played 2). I've only played Atelier Meruru, unfortunately. And haven't gotten all too far yet. The point system that decreases as you travel and attack makes it kind of frustrating for me, but I like the characters. I did play FF13 and thought it was amazing. The traveling segments aren't all that exciting, but I loved the story and characters (especially Vanille). FF8 was actually the first Final Fantasy I played all those years ago. I didn't really appreciate it until I got older though. As for visual novels, Jewel Knight Crusaders was one of the very first ones that I had ever really experienced, so it kind of holds a special place in my heart. Despite all of the really gross elements of the sexual portions, I liked the lighthearted story- plus it had magical girls and that's one of my favorite anime genres. Princess Waltz, or what I managed to read of it before my computer crash, was absolutely amazing and had a cool card game. I just wish it didn't have the shoe-horned in "we need to fuck to power up" sex scenes. Speaking of, Fate/Stay Night was another one I didn't get to finish 'cause of my computer crash, but it started kind of boring, then picked up, and then got boring again when you switched to Emiya.
  20. Oh gosh, a whole bundle, but I suppose some of them are also my anime pet peeves. Abusive Female Characters- I think everyone's familiar with the type. The main character will do something silly or there'll be a misunderstanding, and she'll respond with violence like hitting him in the head or punching him in the face. It's not cute, it's rude, and if someone did that to me on a regular basis I definitely would not be their friend. Lolis- In most h-games there's gotta be at least one, it seems, and nothing turns me off faster than a little girl's crying and squealing. Usually paired with my next dislike. Deflowering- Blood is not a turn on, and hearing how the protagonist is "breaking her wall (gag)" and gushing out just makes me want to skip the entire scene. Watersports- I have never seen scat in a visual novel, but the villain route of Jewel Knights Crusaders (probably one of my favorite VNs) was basically dedicated to this fetish and it was just really uncomfortable to read. Faceless MCs- I don't understand Japan's love of this? To me it just looks like the picture is unfinished. Or when their eyes are covered by their bangs. Traps/Identity Issues- And for the latter I'm not talking about transgenders or anything. What I mean is reverse traps, who also fall along the lines of "I'm not allowed to be a girl because I know karate/am a prince/whatever". It's just a storyline that I don't enjoy very much. Crossdressing- Biiig turn off. Seeing boys in girl clothes- especially maid outfits or lingerie- just...no. I like my men to look like men.
  21. Nice to meet you all. You can call me Twitchycolt, or Twitchy. 'm 21 years old, a boy, and currently a psych student. I love video games- especially RPGs (Final Fantasy, Shin Megami Tensei, Tales of, Eternal Sonata, etc), roleplaying, reading, and also designing my own video games.~ My tastes as far as visual novels go are otome and boy's love games. So, I hope to have fun with you all!
  22. At the moment, just Dramatical Murder. Will definitely play Dangan Ronpa (once the patch is done) and Sweet Fuse (once it gets released in August).
