I've read somewhere that sca-ji's emphasis is not on the mystery, but on the philo. The story is v. thickly foreshadowed to the point you could figure it out in Down the Rabbit-Hole I, so yeah, you've prolly figured it out. I did in Rabbit Hole II. >.> But yeah, the plot is not the focus, nor is it the characters. They're basically excuses to convey sca-ji's philo (not that there's anything wrong with that), but they're regarded to still manage to do well, so I'd say hold on. I'm p. sure if you were to ask most fans, the most iconic scenes for them would be those said nonsense scenes -- yuki looking at the sky, the galactic railroad scene, anything with ayana, the famous cows scene, etc. The most i can tell you is to find a way to enjoy those, or to find sense in the nonsense, as that's what i personally enjoy about it. Still, it seems to be shaping up as something not for you. Though tbh, philo is p. nonsensical...
but imo, it's v. interesting and unique, and worth playing for that alone. If anything majority of Invention is pure madness -- I liked the presentation of the mystery despite knowing it, and Jabberwocky I (where I stalled) is where the bloat dramatically decreases (the script size is a testament to that). The drama is also v. interesting in how there are no moments where you'd expect people to post feels train memes, but it still manages to be cathartic. I think it's worth playing how interesting it is, so my rec is to just go through it -- at least it'd be p. memorable.
Oh, and turn off Zakuro's voice. Much better, especially in Insects. Unless you love making fun of bad seiyuus.

Recently played ebi-hime's Asphyxia. It was surprisingly good. The writing was flowery and fluid (a stark contrast to most things you'd find tl'ed or originally in english) and the vocab is rather wide. The handling of its subject matter (depression) was done really well. It never glorified Samantha's unhealthy obsession with Lillian, and how she handled things. It was portrayed to be exactly that -- unhealthy. But at the same time, it understood how difficult it is to cope with it. But despite the subject matter, it also knew how to be funny. The humor blended well into the characters' conversations. Speaking of which, the characters were very good too. Their beliefs were defined; often conflicting with each other, and it shows in their personality, and also their chemistry. The way Sam acted around Roberta is different from the way she acted around Lillian, and so on. If you're familiar with the figures as romantic poets you'll find that most of their comments -- from the more grounded ones to the more WTFLOL ones -- are based on reality. And it's very pleasing, and enjoyable. ebi-hime included a notes section which details their lives so even if you're unfamiliar with them, you could enjoy that small aspect of it. There is very little for me to complain about. Hope more people support it.

kawashima rino is p. kewl at least.
prolly the only eroge VA I will remember because she's everywhere lol
sharnoth's probably my favorite VN so I hope you enjoy it
    especially the 10/10 god-given minigame
anyway a large part of why sharnoth's cool is its writing style, but the TL doesn't carry it over all too well. listening to the voices, however, are really fun due to the poetic way they narrate/speak. my suggestion would be to listen more than read

Well, to answer the question, yes; everything's possible, but don't expect it at all.

Wonderfullyevil got a reaction from Silvz in About to finish Swan Song, what should i read next? (Only translated)
It never makes sense, even after finishing. Definitely a title able to proudly say, "Inspired by Alice in Wonderland", but that very nonsensical aspect is part of what makes it so polarizing. Add in its repetitive prose with a translation which doesn't capture the charm of the original, and you have Forest.

For another recommendation, I would've said Umineko as it fits most aspects, but it ends up making you feel stupid (lol). There's also Subarashiki Hibi with its translation on the verge of release, but it been on that status for a few months now. You could always join the hype train though!

Silent, but in the company of people I regularly communicate with I'm a troll.
    Also a sore loser.
    And sadistic
And I like calling some people furniture (Oh Umineko, what have you taught me?)

Jormungand is cool, I guess. Good characters and backstories, but the main plot is pretty stupid and lacks good conflict, buildup, and the like. The main character also feels mary sue-ish as she always wins. It explores a few messed-up minds, but not to the extent of Black Lagoon. It's disappointing if you're expecting Black Lagoon, maybe disappointing in general.

Psycho-Pass is interesting. Interesting plot, characters, and generally skillful. It just isn't explored as much as I would've liked it to be. I liked it, but was never wowed.

Baccano's my personal favorite among the recommendations for Black Lagoon. It's about messed-up characters, but despite the over-the-top violence it's fun and happy. Most of the fun comes from it's non-linear storytelling method though, so it's best you marathon it to not get confused. It's simply a blast to watch.

On personal notes, my favorite animes are Utena, Penguindrum, and Shin Sekai Yori. For the former 2, if you like surrealism then go for it. Otherwise, it could be interesting or bad to you.
The latter is a good, interesting, psychological horror with an amazing lore and ending. However, it is extremely slow-paced and at times, stressful. Not really one to watch to be entertained.

I still support Ikikoi's common route.
It sounds like RH1 with 4 Kagamis.
So that means it's closest to SubaHibi!

I'll second Phenomeno and Umineko as they fulfill all 3 genres.

For thrillers, you can't go wrong with G-senjou no Maou, though not much of a mystery.

Remember11, 999, and VLR are good thrillers too, with atmospheres which can creep you out in some bad endings.

Shikkoku no Sharnoth is horror mystery. It's slow-paced, but the prose more than makes up for it, unless you dislike it.

    Everything is UnTL'd.

Sayonara wo Oshiete ~Comment te Dire Adieu~ has an ongoing translation, but it hasn't seen any recent progress.
Kusarihime ~Euthanasia~ seems cool and Higurashi-esque. Or the other way around, as Kusarihime came first.
    Shizuku popularised the genre, apparently.
Jisatsu no Tame no 101 no Houhou is considered one of the big three denpa names, if I have my info correct.
Then there's Tsui no Sora, how SubaHibi started out. I heard SCA-JI doesn't want people to read it though.
    Oh, and the unreleased Makki, Shoujobyou -Lyrical pop world's end. It will probably stay unreleased too. ;0;

I thought it was just stalled since the TL'er was working on SubaHibi.
Speaking of which, add SubaHibi to the list for all three genres. The editing is almost done. Hopefully we'll get it end of July/early August.
