From the looks of it, it looks like the keyboard is going haywire? Since it's selecting through all the options and such (i.e. the arrows keys are being spammed). Have you tried using a different keyboard or disconnecting/reconnecting the current one? EDIT: Looking at it closer, it looks as if the 'down' arrow key is being held down constantly...?

Also, it seems the game was updated at some point? I don't think I've seen any of the event suggested there though. Maybe I played the older version? Or did it got cancelled?

Another random thought: Your thoughts sound plausible, but I cant really discuss it since I don't remember most of the stuff. Maybe I will play it again to refresh my memory.

The Mirror Lied is an indie game made by Freebird Games, the guys who also made To the Moon. The game itself is very short, it'll only take you about 20 minutes or so to complete it. What's amazing however, is the abstract story it presents that is fully up for interpretation. You can get the game here. Play through it and do share your own interpretation of the story, I would love to see them. Here are my personal thoughts on what the plot is about:

Confession: When I was a kid, I got into a fight with my brother because he broke my favorite toy (it was a ship that can transform into a robot, pretty cool). After beating him up for a while, my mother heard the commotion and came in the room to check on us. As my 9 year-old self panicked, I looked at my brother lying on the floor groaning in pain and an idea struck me. I thought "If both of us are hurt, I wouldn't get into trouble". ... So I proceeded to throw myself onto the floor next to him and moaned as though I'm in pain. Nevertheless, my brother told on me and I still got an ass whooping ...
