  1. either you have completely missed the point of the manga or you just aren't the sort of person its written for. the whole manga is about developing emotional intimacy and trust rather than just rushing into a physical relationship. yes it is an ideal taken to something of an extreme but so are the ideals of many other manga. Magika no Kenshi to Shoukan Maou has the ideal of the strong hero who is irresistible to women, within a few months he ends up all the women in his dorm taking turns spending the night in his room and with him as one of the strongest people in the world. Again this is an ideal clearly taken to an extreme but that does not make the story any less enjoyable, its just a matter of whether its an ideal you enjoy reading about or not. Also I will point out that the suggestion of blue balls is somewhat unfair, he decides the he would like something more romantic then a simple kiss when Urabe offers to let him kiss her if that is what he wants. also on multiple occasions she does give him droll that gives him some very pleasant dreams. Oh and the anime in no way does the manga justice.
  2. Mysterious girlfriend X. this one if probably my all time favorite romance manga and disappointed that it has not already been recommended. some people have trouble with the whole droll thing but if you can get past that is in a wonderfully sweat manga. Koi Neko is also quite good assuming you have no problems with cat girls. Koharu no hibi. a word of warning on this one, the girl is borderline yandere. she never takes it all the way to murder or confinement, not even any real violence, but still. Yandere Kanojo. this one is a 4-koma and despite the title this one is Yandere free. Majo to Houki to Kurobuchi Megane is another 4-koma. this one is yuri, it also has a bit of a loli element to it but its presented in a clean and humors manner. Fujimura-Kun Meitsu. Unlike the others I have listed so far this one is a harem manga. Omamori Himari again this one is a harem manga but unlike the last one this one has Ecchi and supernatural elements, thought in all fairness i thing the magically appearing pit traps should have earned Fujimura-Kun Meitsu a supernatural tag. Sister Blood. I am mostly listing this one because being by the same person as onamori himari it popped into my head while i was listing that one. this one is a one shot and as the title suggests the romance in this one may not be everyone's cup of tea. Lucifer and the biscuit hammer. romance is a smaller aspect of this manga but still definitely a part of it and its simply an all around good manga.
  3. 1 Kuu from Goshujin-sama Daisuki why oh why could there not have been a route devoted just to her? 2 Sakaki Yumiko from Grisaia Is it wrong of me to hope that one of the two sequels shows her being bitten by a cat? 3 Yume from Hoshizora no Memoria 4 Hanako from Katawa Shoujo It was a close run thing between her and lilly but... 5 Fujinami Tomoko Canvas 2 honorable mention Matsushima Michiru from Grisaia she deserves an honorable mention not because I like her or her route, if anything could have made Grisaia any better it would been swapping her route for one with the principal, but because of what she brings to grisaia. Of all the Deres the only truly unpleasant one is the tsun so watching five of the most entertaining characters in any VN torment one ruthlessly was a true joy and her SM and self defense scenes with Makina, while not quite my favorite in the whole VN, are definitely up there.
  4. Grisaia: tormenting tsunderes since 2011 Lonely Yuri- winning the most accurate name award Yume Miru Kusuri- guilt limiting you to one route
  5. it is possible that the way I phrased this topic was misleading. I did not mean this as a technical grammatical question but one of attitude. I am somewhat more detached, enjoying the story of some interesting people while i think my friend tries to put a bit of himself and his attitudes into the main character.
  6. I have wondered for some time now how other people think about VNs. Do you think of yourself as playing or reading VNs. For insistence I mostly think of myself as reading them the same way I would read a book or manga but with the added benefit of knowing that the main character will not go insane and decide that he likes a blonde tsundere. However I know at least one person who thinks of it more like playing a game and plays through the first time making whatever choices he wants to make and after that changes just enough of the decisions to end up on whatever route he wants. EDIT to be clear this is not a question about definitions but a discussion about attitudes. do you try to put a bit of yourself into the game and make as many choices based on what you think the answers should be, while staying the route you want, or do you sit back and enjoy the story of the courtship or adventures of some interesting people

    Books!

I should probably say upfront that in addition to being a collage student I work part time in a library and that last summer I won a gift certificate because I read more over the summer then any other librarian in our library system, these two facts should give you an idea about my attitude towards books and reading. my top twelve authors are Brandon sanderson david weber jim butcher Glen cook J.R.R. tolkien Jack campbell Joe abercrombie Mark lawrence Patrick rothfuss scott lynch Steven erikson and H P Lovecraft in no particular order. I couldn't possibly say what my favorite book but I would say the best one I have read so far this year is Erin Morgenstert's the Night Circus and I have no idea how it managed to elude my for three and a half years.
  8. I must say first that personality is critical to what I find attractive, as couple of opposing examples I will use Lolis and tsunderes. As a rule i don’t find Lolis at all attractive but the right personality can change that quite a bit, examples being Tabitha from Zero No Tsukaima, Yuki from Haruhi, and Miyu from Fate Ilya, if those three had routes in a VN I would read them, though I don't know if the first two even qualify as Lolis or just as short. on the other hand if the most physically attractive character in a VN was a modern tsundere I would probably not read her route. with that understood this will be an examination of the purely physical. since clothes make the woman( a saying that even as a male I find more than vaguely offensive) we will start with the most appealing kinds of clothes. In general I find baggy and or rumpled clothes to be quite appealing and extra long sleeves are almost always a plus. on the proper sort of person it's almost impossible to beat a white sundress. while short skirts certainly have their points I have found that on people with darker or silver hair a long one can actually be more attractive. there are also some sweaters and hoodies that can be amazingly attractive. as my avatar should suggest I also strongly approve of yukata on the right people. I must also admit that I have something of a weakness for the only a Y shirt look. as for physical appearance in many ways I am not to untypical, I am a fan of big breasts and long hair. There are of course exceptions some people just look better with short hair and others some even look better with smaller breasts (and there are some breasts that are just to big). in terms of hair color I generally find darker or silver to be more attractive. in terms of eyes i find that almost all eyes can be attractive but there is a special place in my heart for blue ones, red ones and hetero-chromatic ones. long limbs in general are attractive with long fingers being particularly so. most of the rest of what I find physically attractive has do do with how the person holds themselves and looks out at the world and since that has a lot with personality I think I will end it here. I will say that I found this topic interesting as I had not spent much time thinking about what I found attractive about certain characters and it made me feel somewhat better about myself to realize how much of what I found attractive came back to personality.
  9. since based on the posts I have read we seem to have a decent number of loli fans here I thought this might be an interesting poll. I will use myself as an example For some time I believed that the term loli was either based on the word low or little, or on a Japanese word that I did not know. I came across the book while reading some other things the same author wrote and read it. so for the first question before that point I would have voted for answer three now I would vote for one.
  10. 8/10, 7/10 for cuteness in general +1 for the vine border, it's hard to go wrong with vine borders. I have to admit that even with a bit of googleing I couldn't figure out who she is, though she does look kind of familiar. it's from a manga by the same person who wrote Haruhi.
  11. I would probably have to go with Yandere, though Kuudere and Deredere are also vary tempting. I have always thought that if your a loyal sort of a person, and if you have quick wits and a silver tongue then there would be little better then a Yandere. Also I wonder what sort of a dere Urabe from MGX would be, because someone like her would give even a Yandere a run for there money.
  12. I would highly recommend Lonely Yuri https://vndb.org/v10569, assuming you don’t mind yuri. Also for a few moments after seeing your signature I thought about, lets say "being inspired by it", to create my of version only with Yanderes instead of Lolis and probably a different pic, then it occurred to me just how bad an idea that would actually be.
