  1. You'll need a lot .. a lot of time. This game is freaking long. Over 50 hours of reading. I put about, I think a bit over a hundred hours. It took me about 3 weeks and a half to read the whole thing (or play, whatever you want to call it ). The good thing is the story is linear. One ending, regardless of which choices you make (it really only affects few lines, no impact on the story or characters, everything stays the same, except the 'confession' of kasumi if you feel like reading it. It's a really cute confession and a bitter one). ^ What he said. You really gotta make time for AL. It's a very long, addictive, very deep story. Just when you think "wow, this is really good" the next part will blow you away. I pushed my University classes few months away while playing this. Before I started, I read some basic/surface story of Muv-Luv EXTRA/UNLIMITED from the group that translated AL (Alternative) and .. well I don't recommend that. After I beat AL, I went on ahead and played Muv-Luv EXTRA/UNLIMITED and I kinda regret not reading those two before Alternative. I can also relate this to Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua VN. I played that game for three weeks as well and I logged over a hundred hours in that game. Really, really, really good plot and story. The ending (Final Episode) is the best epilogue at the moment. AL holds the best bitter-sweet ending ... uh, seriously twisted, bitter sweet ending. That sounds good? Ah yeah, I played AL while holding two jobs and putting 55-70 hours a week of work. I remember, 10 PM to 7 AM for my night job, and 7:30 AM to 11:30AM-2PM. Nice money, cool people, but so wasn't worth the time.
  2. I played Muv-Luv Alternative last year during the summer. I loved every damn minute of it. The beginning was weird and all but once that incident that happens on 12/5 begins it changed my view about the whole series - story - characters, pretty much everything. Anyways! Yesterday I came back to Fuwanovel to see what's new and I saw Chronicles Volume 1 released. I stopped all my manga and anime and downloaded it and began playing it. I haven't finished it. I'm like 4 or 6 hours deep. I heard it's very short but I so don't care! I went a little overboard and went on a shopping spree for all the Muv-Luv stuff. :/ I even see that light novel this one and it took my breath away. I love the suits. I'm not a fan of mecha stuff, but Muv-Luv is an exception because of the depth and structure of the plot. I see that someone's working on Chronicles volume 2. >_<! Give it to Tatsu!!!!!!! Playing Chronicles Volume 1 is killing me again to play Muv-Luv Alternative all over again ... I played it twice, the second time I stopped before that PSTD phase (extreme gore and really fucked up scenes, can't handle it well). Oh yea, a new visual novel called Schwarzesmarken is in development by age. It's suppose to be out next year. The official site is here. I'm looking forward to it! Okay, yeah, whatever. I think I spoke too much.
  3. Question. I just finished the Shared Route and finished Suzuha's Route ... and now I don't feel like going through the other character's route since Kurisu's route will ultimately lead me to her ending, and I can take one of my near-ending saves and get the True Ending for the VN. I went to Save 1 as the walk-through said and now I choose like 3 or 4 different options but the dialogue is still the same ... is everything going to be THE SAME until chapter 6? I'm on chapter 4. I'm on Kurisu's route right now. I don't feel like reading things I already read but I'm not sure if there is anything new between now to Chapter 6.
  4. So I was chilling and trying out few builds for the 4770K i7, and decided to listen to Muv-Luv music and ... oh god please! I cannot go back and re-play this game! It's ... so good! Damn that Coup d'etat Arc flipped one switch it shouldn't have. Literally, the beginning ... the very beginning of that arc when [you know who] shows up, I was screaming "NO FUCKING WAY?!" lol. It was the most thrilling and best excitement I had from that moment and it kept pushing the bars so high. Each arc, each chapter and event was like "what the fuck? Is this gonna keep getting better?" It's like filling a cup with water, only you push both cold and hot water at maximum and make it over-fill non-stop. Ah man .... I did play it a second time, but I stopped right before Chapter 8 (that chapter ... it's brutal and not merciful). Anyways ... back to what I was doing.
  5. I just started today, as well. Thou' I read that EX/ME are still being translated and they have more scenes and h-scenes and fully voiced, I am wondering on what to really do. I want the full voice and extra scenes ... I hate re-playing a game for things like this.
  6. Muv-Luv EXTRA and UNLIMITED are essential to know and understand what's happening in those VNs. They're the set-up stories to Muv-Luv Alternative. EXTRA is a day-to-day life experience, as UNLIMITED you'll be sent to another world (a pretty fucked up world) and you'll get to understand the characters better and some of their background stories (not much to tell anyways). And I am with you, EXTRA is freaking boring and beyond freaking stupid (Sumika's route is really dump and not developed). I did enjoy EXTRA for it's entertainment and I also did enjoy Meiya's route better than Sumika. In my own case, I read a summary of EXTRA and UNLIMITED then played Alternative. Half-way through ... I wanted to go back and play EXTRA and UNLIMITED to get a better grasp of the character's emotions, but I ... was stuck - my freedom was lost all in Alternative. So I decided to finish Alternative then hit EXTRA and UNLIMITED. Alternative will take you more than 90 hours to beat up to 130+ hours (correct me if I'm wrong, but I put up about 110+ hours). I went back to EXTRA, and decided to go with Meiya because of how involved and important she is in Alternative (all characters are, and Meiya plays a very important role to Takeru). Meiya's route was pleasant, I really liked it. Sumika's was boring and stupid. I hit UNLIMITED and I laughed a lot and didn't have trouble understanding the characters since I played Alternative. Thou' the development and the routes and arcs in UNLIMITED are essential ... they are very important in order to give you an insight of who the characters are and what will happen in Alternative. I beat Meiya's route considering the relation and importance she is to Takeru (even the guide suggests to beat her route before the rest and you can just skip everyone else and go to Alternative afterwards - I hear they are about the same, only different words but settings are the same). If I can go back in-time, I would play Muv-Luv EXTRA and UNLIMITED before I play Alternative. You do what you want to do, but for a full experience and so you don't end up regretting it later - do what I recommend in this statement. There are characters from Kimi ga Nozomu Eien that make appearance in Alternative and ... I freaking screamed so hard just seeing them. No, not just Akane. I'll put Alternative in words for you to understand - it is way and above good to describe or to put into words. Alternative will suck you in and dry you - it's bittersweet, brutal, driven emotion, gory (explicit and mind-fuck scenes) - yet it's honorable, structured backstory (well put together, detailed in every corner you want to think about and explains everything - even why ... I won't even go there!), developed beyond your imagination, awe moments, respectful and ... just everything you want to have - everything in a VN is put together in Alternative. Alternative is worth it.
  7. Kimi ga Nozomu Eien ~ Latest Edition. That is the only thing I want to be translated.
  8. Exactly my thoughts. This is the best VN I've played. I was in awe moments in so many different events. Just when you think "oh this is really impressive" and you're shocked ... nope, it just keeps getting better. I even drew a map of how these characters are all listed as blocks and put more blocks from under-neath them and expanded it beyond the paper to a point of where I can't put blocks anymore. Those blocks refer to the "structure" of the development and story. I cannot put anything into words how freaking amazing Muv-Luv Alternative is and it is the #1 VN on VNDB with the highest scores possible. If I have to put it into words ... Honorable and ... oh god, I'm at loss for words. I beat the game about a week and a half ago. I'm also a very big fan of KimiNozo and I know the VN is really incredible (the Latest Edition is really good). Just seeing what they did with the parallel world characters (those who played it know what I'm talking about) had me screaming so loud "OMFG NO WHY YOU GUYS DID THIS? <3 YOU AGE!". My family freaked out and thought something bad happened, lol. Anyways ... this VN doesn't start, literally - it doesn't start until the Coup d'etat Arc begins ... holy fuck ... that, that arc ... oh god. -silences himself- And yea, those who having played Muv-Luv series, you gotta start from Muv-Luv and beat Sumika and Meiya's arcs in EXTRA, then in Unlimited you beat Meiya (suggested since she plays a big role in Alternative) and then start Muv-Luv Alternative and say goodbye to your free-time, lol. I don't like Sumika, they didn't develop her character well at all. Alternative did a good job developing it, but there is that hole I couldn't put up with it. My favorite characters are Kasumi and Meiya. You know why I like those two ... You know why!
  9. I uninstalled it. Went to regedit and this is what I have: I have two other games as you can see - Muv Luv Alternative, and KgNE ~ LE. Muv Luv isn't present (at least from what I can tell). @ Beato - Gonna do what you did and see if that'll work. Edit 1 - Alright ... FUCK YEA IT WORKED! So it wasn't in the registry, I uninstalled Muv-Luv ... then I went to the Control Panel just out of curiosity and there was Muv Luv DVD 1.0 or something - I believe it's that NoPatch DVD application (I believe I installed it few years ago when I tried to play it, thinking it will allow me to play it without DVD ... ha). I uninstalled that one, too. Then I did follow your steps and ... it's working! Woohoooo!!!! So to understand how the flow of the guide is in Muv-Luv Extra, in order to go for the certain female then you gotta eat her bentos and ... I think that's it. I'm only interested in Meiyu - I know I have to play Sumika as well in order to unlock Unlimited. Is Unlimited linear or are there choices to end up with someone? No spoilers please. Ah ... so glad this is working.
  10. I have installed this via the second option from the folder, which promoted me to install Extra and Unlimited. Yes, my computer has been Japanese uni-coded since the first day of this OS. -- So it's not able to find the data ... I have installed this several times, in different ways. Has anyone installed Muv-Luv on Windows 7 / 64-bit? I would appreciate it if anyone has, or if anyone is willing to try and figure out how to do it. I've tried about a year ago and it never worked, and now I'm trying again. I've uninstalled, erased, re-installed ... I just want to play this game. Please help me out. Thank you.
  11. I'm currently playing Muv-Luv Alternative (freaking awesome VN), already read what happened in Muv-Luv (the main storylines) but haven't played it. I want to play Muv-Luv. So let's get down to my problem. I have Windows 7, 64-bit. I have the Fuwa version of this game, and I believe I have another version which is the same one like Fuwa. Both give me different errors. I want to start with the first one because I think this is easier to solve. What does this thing say? What should I do?
