  1. cool you're from the Philippines as well looking for software? Try out Manga Studio or Anime Studio. Although if you're just planning to draw sprites for your game, use SAI. Color it there as well and add effects with PS or GIMP. Use Anime Studio if you're good with vectors and can draw proper images with them. You could also create basic animations if you're using Anime Studio. But remember that a visual novels doesn't only consist of sprites and software. You need a decent story in order for your game to be played. I'm assuming you already have a tablet, since you said you have tried other softwares. Well, I couldn't really tell much about tablets since I only use mine for osu! XD
  2. there's not much of a sequence but... First you should draft out all the ideas you have. Think about how the main menu would look. Think about what buttons to use. Think about the game's theme. And if possible, start figuring out how the loops and algorithms should work. Next, start coding. Begin with a prototype, then improve its usability. Make sure that the game feels good (how objects react to input). Then, start optimizing your code. Look for unnecessary arithmetics. Try to make use of the engine's built in features. Next, make decent graphics. Start replacing cubes with decent 3D models. Add animations to the characters and environment. Make the game look good and organized. Remember though that it's fundamental to keep your code intact so you don't break stuff. We all hate debugging, don't we? Next, the levels. Create levels for your game (if it has levels, of course). Set a specific minimum amount of levels. Once you reach that certain number, you're good to go. Next, polish the graphics. Check for weird pixels on textures. Check for weird character animations. Make the game look perfect -- it's what makes your game playable. Also, add sounds and background music. Finally, test your game. List all the problems and issues you encounter. Add levels if necessary. Having a team helps speed up the process. Especially when you have people specializing on specific areas.
  3. I heard the story was quite good, but since it was old, the graphics turned me down. I have both the first and the unlimited on my pc, and I haven't even played for an hour. It's up to you whether you want to continue it. It's just annoying to force yourself to read it. If you're really looking forward to the ending, just endure the first parts and eventually you'll finish.
  4. Let's just all be Aaeru, then! I shall call you Stevaeeru! Actually, yeah. I'll just take back what I said haha. We don't think as one!!~ lol sorry I really feel shit right now hahaha
  5. yeah, I agree! haha, I remember joining here because I fell in love with the Koiken Otome opening. I went looking for English translations, and I ended up as its current project's editor and image editor muhahaha :bd fuwanovel is a small community, which I think is a reason why it's easy to keep it friendly. No one but VN lovers would join this forum, so no random trolls lurking around. We all think as one, since we all love visual novels! I would have played shitty VNs if I haven't found this forum, and in a few months I'd stop playing. You guys are awesome T.T *sobs* lolwat okay, my english feels rusty. I can't edit right now hahaha
  6. some... corrections...? This, in my opinion, is a more casual/proper/common way to say those stuff in english. (ah, I don't always have time to go online in IRC :< can I just edit scripts offline in school on my phone if you'll let me help out edit?) no, Joshyan. Nobody wants you out of the team. Doing that would definitely slow things down D: and btw, I also use MT since I don't understand japanese at all. I just know a few common phrases from anime :3 (and I know hiragana, plus a couple more characters from katakana). I use rikai-kun (a GChrome plugin to display japanese text translations in a tiny popup) to get an idea of the sentence structure, so I know how words should be arranged when it gets translated to english. I don't think it really matters anyway, since I'm no translator. GChrome also has a built-in spellchecker so it's easy to spot errors.
  7. Key VNs are mostly Nakiges. It makes you on the first half and it makes you cry on the other. Little Busters! have more comedy stuff than Rewrite.
  8. Yeah, I could do that. Also, yeah, you're too productive when you're bored.
  9. lol the images hahaha well, I'm not really in a hurry but it would help if you can give it to me already (since I'm bored too D:). It takes some time getting used to the game's style and a bit practice would help make the sprites look perfect. And btw, are the sprites in PNGs? or BMPs? And how many are there? Edit: maybe I could just help edit for now? I can't understand a lot of japanese but a word per word translator (rikai kun ftw) should give me enough idea of what the sentence means, then I could modify the translated lines into something more understandable/decent/proper/whatever the situation requires the mood to be.
  10. btw defendos you could just multi quote several posts and then add a reply XDD
  11. hummmmm hey there is that you on osu!~? (yeah I think so lol) hello and welcome to this lovely site
  12. exactly. I don't think it's easy to find someone good with japanese on a forum about translated japanese visual novels. lol
  13. This might help. Also, if you don't mind having a drunk teacher, check out namasensei's http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9987A659670D60E0. I heard it's a good tutorial (I'm still downloading it) Let's all try to study Japanese together ) I only know hiragana atm, and I stopped studying since a few weeks ago 8-)
  14. yeah, I think so too. It's easier to appreciate visual novels if you're already into anime
  15. your mom?? :OOO that's cool ) so... who's the one that's actually gonna play it?? I would suggest Little Busters as well. And Planetarian for a short one. (Although I think it would be best to look for realistic stories sinceit's easier to relate that way if you're new to it)
  16. wow... that definitely isn't from fuwanovel :< I feel like downloading the patch you used, but since I already have this one working I'll just stick to it. Thanks, and feel free to mark this solved.
  17. Just a simple question about the game Hoshizora no Memoria... The settings dialogs: does anybody know a translated english version of these settings? Just images with translated text overlays would do. I don't need a patch or anything. I want to tweak the game to my liking but I don't understand a thing.
  18. this looks fun. I shall watch this topic hahaha
  19. Apparently some files were really corrupted This problem is now solved. Force re-checking the files with my torrent client fixed it. Thanks for helping me it's time to finish Rewrite hahahaha
  20. Also I don't think there's a Take Ownership option in windows 7. Are you using vista? okay so I found the Rewrite entries on my registry. aaaaaaannnd I redownloaded the torrent and downloaded it exactly where Rewrite is. I forced a recheck and I thought it would download just the batch and text files I renamed and the SiglusEngine I replaced, but the check stopped at 99.5%, so I had to download 36 more MB. I'm downloading at 5 kbps, but hopefully this fixes my problem. I'll post back once it finishes.
  21. Apparently I found that saves are stored in My Documents, so moving the entire folder around shouldn't mess with the saves. I tried restarting Moon route, it didn't work. I think the single entry I found on the registry doesn't look faulty. It points to the correct siglusengine.exe on my D:\ drive. Here's its value data: {0.0.0.00000000}.{dd0ecc71-2642-490b-83d7-3086115b2df9}|\Device\HarddiskVolume3\Visual Novels\Rewrite\siglusengine.exe%b{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} It also contained a subfolder with 4 more entries inside. I'm not sure whether it's good or not, but it doesn't look fishy. I'm totally clueless about how registry keys work, so yeah. Permission to read and write to folder? I'm not sure how I'm supposed to figure that out. And besides, I don't think I would be having this problem if the issue is about having the permission to read and write to folder. If I didn't have the permission to write to folder, I would probably be having saving issues since long ago. I'm starting to come to a dead end. Help me D:
  22. EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED If you're having a similar problem, some files are probably corrupted. Force re-checking the files with the torrent client you used to download it should fix it. Of course, redownloading should do as well. Before anything else... Warning: block of text. TL;DR can be found at the bottom. First of all, yes, I am running my 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate PC on a Japanese Locale. (with an English display) Next, the copy I have is from fuwanovel (r4 patch). It doesn't need an install so you just move the files to a folder and run some stuff to make it work. And as the title says, the game I'm having a problem with is Rewrite by Key. Sadly, this is my first visual novel, and when I'm about to finish it, it crashes out on me :< Now, on to my problem... My problem is a game crash. > This happens in the middle of a line transition in "Rewrite 【Reinforcements】" right after when Chihaya says 「They're coming!」. After saying that, her sprite starts fading out, then the game crashes midway, not letting the next line show up (so I assume something is wrong with that next line). > Can't find it? Here's a spoilerful of descriptions: I've also tried various hopeless attempts, such as letting auto read feature get through it, but it was hopeless. If I start from a few lines behind, then rush through it with Ctrl (fast skip), it crashes on my line「Yeah. We've been waiting for this.」, which is the line before Chihaya's. So, I assume that the program is pre-reading the next two lines forward whenever I fast skip. Then once it reads the faulty line, the game crashes. Stuff I've tried... I've rummaged through this forum's threads by searching for "Rewrite", and all I found was threads on making the batch file work or running Rewrite for the first time (also, there was one who tried running Rewrite on an OSX native system). I even googled my issue, but still I found none. Which means I think that I am the only one having this issue. I didn't bother posting the issue to Amaterasu's website, since I may still have to register for an account. (I can't even open their forums page) Next: - Reboot your computer > tried this, it was hopeless. - Uninstall/Reinstall the game > Rewrite (from fuwanovel) doesn't need an install. - Redownload the game > no way, man. That's 7.29 GB. Besides, I don't think that redownloading the game would fix my issue. - Try to run the game as an admin > I'm always running the game as admin so the security warning dialog gets skipped every time I open the shortcut. - Check your antivirus for quarantined files. > nope, nothing there. Besides, my antivirus should tell me something if it really did interfere with my playing. - If the folder you downloaded includes a Readme from the TL team, READ IT. Known issues are often handled there. > nothing seems to solve my problem either. And I tried the replacement SiglusEngines, nothing seems to work as well. More useless info which might bring up suspicions... How I acquired the game and how I made it work. > I downloaded the torrent. I moved all files to C:\Program Files\Rewrite\ > I renamed the batch file to something more decent before running it. > The game worked flawlessly after running SiglusEngine. > I played a bit with the screen resolution and some common settings, then I closed the game. > I made a shortcut of SiglusEngine on my desktop, and made it run as admin by default. Recently, I had to evacuate Rewrite into D:\ since C:\ drive was getting full > I copied the entire Rewrite folder into D:\Visual Novels\ > This was around a few days ago, when I've just started Moon route. > I ran the batch file once again, in order to update the registry info. > I opened Rewrite from my desktop shortcut to check my saves (which still pointed to the C:\ drive copy), and it worked just fine. > I later on realized that I ran the C:\ drive copy, so I modified the shortcut properties. > I deleted the C:\ copy, then tried running the game again. It was still working fine. > I played the game normally, but then this bug came up. TL;DR: Rewrite crashes on Moon Route right after when Chihaya says 「They're coming!」. Also, a minor issue: I can't seem to left-align all these stuff. Editor is a bit faulty after all. I just centered some lines then once I previewed it, all lines got centered already. Admins/Mods: Feel free to left align everything except titles and images if you can. edit: couple of grammatical edits
  23. this is bad. I think I just downloaded really long VNs T.T kamidori, hoshizora no memoria, muv-luv, muv-luv alt, and I'm still playing rewrite T.T you can find the length on vndb. it helps.
  24. osu! piqued my interest. I always come across eye candy VN OPs with videos of pretty girls and nice animations. The first one I found, I googled the name, which lead me to vndb. After that, I found more and more visual novel OPs. But every single one I search didn't have English releases (I thought I was just unlucky, but now I realized that the VNs are too new to have translations). April came (yeah this year) and I think I started browsing vndb. I was searching for good looking VNs then I came across Rewrite. (I was actually thankful that I picked an All-Ages VN as my first). I downloaded it and I started playing just this month. I was on my 4th route (that was May 18 this year) when I registered to FuwaNovel. Right now I'm done with all the heroines and I'm on the Moon route. Also, I finished downloading Kamidori, Muv-Luv, Muv-Luv Alt, Hoshizora, and Planetarian, thanks to all those recommendations you gave. Despite being here for less than a week, I am now part of an FTL (Koiken Otome) (actually that thread made me want to register, since Sword of Virgin was my favorite song on osu!) and I'm also trying to involve myself in other events on this forum. I'll be trying my best from now on to help provide fan translated visual novels with everyone~ <3
  25. about the images not showing up, puush was down when I uploaded the pic. Seems like a lot of people here uses puush as well.
