Site Work Failed, But We Didn't Die

Ugh. Still more roadblocks. Need to get an as-yet unknown password from Nay in order to get this sucker changed. For now, please enjoy the mess of a forums we've got, and dream of the forums we will probably never one day have.

Kaguya got a reaction from Xykros in 50 translated VNs you should read before you die
This list won't feature the VNs in order of "how good they are". Rating them would be way too much of a clusterfuck to me.
The VNs are not in their respective order. Meaning number 1 is not the best, and so on.

It may seem like an ordinary moege- the atmosphere is light, the story is full of cuteness, which you can note by the character design and soundtrack. It gets really good in the middle, and you'll be dying to know what happens in the end. A game with multiple perspectives, it's definitely one of the most enjoyable Visual Novels I've ever read.

I feel obliged to comment on this VN before suggesting it to anyone. It's an Alicesoft title, which speaks a lot for itself... If you don't know how it's going to be like, well.. Kind of tough to describe. Lots of sex, including comedy rape. Alicesoft tends to make the whole story a comedy until right near the end, where things actually do get serious. It's worth checking out, if you don't mind Rance's personality.

Kaguya reacted to solidbatman in Revamp Rules and Staff List
This comes out of a warning I received for spamming in a thread that was technically not in chatter but was nothing as chatter (the dumb mare loli thread that got featured). My spam in question was a single post I made with a reaction image. It was my first post in weeks as well, hardly something needing that silly warning garbage, Clephas.
This made me realize that there are two problems here. Severely uneven enforcement of rules by moderators (which has honestly been a chronic problem for Fuwanovel through its entire history), and secondly, I don't even know who the staff of the website even are anymore. I was never aware that Clephas had the ability to issue warnings like that, nor was I aware board mods had any power to give warnings. I was under the impression that they could delete/hide posts and what not but not cut off posting of a member completely for a time. That in of itself is not the issue. The issue is more that there is that the Fuwa Directory is completely out of date. I have no damn idea who does what, and who has what powers.
To solve both problems, there needs to be a retooling of the entire staff of Fuwanovel. Take a look at the directory and point out all of those who are not active, or no longer even run the project they are listed in. https://fuwanovel.net/about/our-team-fuwadirectory/

With this retooling of the staff (aka clean out the dead weight like myself), strong leadership absolutely needs to come down from the top and make abundantly clear what the rules of the forum are. The uneven application of rules needs to stop and more active leadership with clear lines of communication need to be implemented. This will give the mods much clearer direction of what is and isn't okay on this website.
And no, this isn't a batman bitches about a handslap post. This is a response to a recurring problem with the leadership of fuwanovel today as I've seen this inconsistent rule enforcement multiple times with certain mods recently, and it follows a pattern that goes back to the days of Steve being an admin here. Those were bad days.

I'm sitting here all day waiting for a VN (Ever17) to slowly skip to the next choice over and over again so I can see everything/progress down a different route (Don't you hate having to do that?)
So I thought I'd make a another thread while I'm alt tabbing in and out and waiting.
I think I fell in love with Mare S. Ephemeral from Hoshimemo a little bit (and Chinami too). I just keep thinking about her, her petulant "betsu ni" and her cute little shoulders.
Recommend another loli I might like just as much to cheat on her with? I'm hoping for another high quality nakige like Hoshimemo. (Is Hoshimemo a nakige? A moege? I cried a few times thanks to the drama of the moment and the sound track, but it was never really THAT sad).
Edit: From searching the forum and poking around other threads, there seems to be some sensitivity towards lolis and reaction towards people that create "I love lolis" threads or create lots of threads just to post images of them. I'm hoping my thread is relevant, because it's basically - "I like this character because she's smol and adorable, could you recommend another VN with a character I might like for the same reason?" If I have tripped over some taboo or triggered rage, please don't hesitate to delete my thread and let me know :>.

Kaguya reacted to Corrupted in 50 translated VNs you should read before you die
Sorry for the post necromancy. I thought the original poster, if they're still around five years later, might be happy to hear that someone else found their list useful.
"50 VNs to read before you die"

Well, guess what - I am literally dying and trying to read these 50 VNs before I do in the yearish time I have left. I just sort of stumbled upon this bucket list goal and I've already read a good 15 in a couple months (I have infinite free time atm and literally play all day).
No regrets from this course of action so far! It's an excellent usage of time given my circumstances and it makes me feel like I'm living multiple lives without having to leave home. So many ups and downs, so much catharsis. So much of it connects to the relationships and experiences I've had so far in life. I only wish I had discovered VNs earlier, but I do think I have just enough time to read all the good (translated) ones.
I've picked up a few random games not on this list as my interests broaden (went through a Yandere phase for example) and I'm sure there's at least one or two games not on this list I would really love, but in the end I think it's most useful just to have any decent list and goal and go at it instead of wasting too much time researching and waffling. In that manner, this list was perfect for my needs.
Waffling...waffle...wafu...wafter. That's right. If I'm going to have any regrets, I think it'll be only that games like Kud Wafter and Summer Pockets are almost certainly not gonna be translated in the time I have. Can't get enough Key.

A translator will just have to translate however he/she wants. A translator will never be able to satisfy everyone. Half wants a translation that's directly translated from its source language and the other half wants it tailored towards not only their language but their culture as well (which to me is incomprehensible, but that's my opinion).

    17_Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni

    18_Kara no Shoujo

    19_Umineko no Naku Koro ni

    20_Planetarian

    21_Ever 17
    Another top 10.

    22_Remember11
It lacks in the ending, but otherwise the story of this VN has enough to easily become one of my all-time favorites.

    23_Zanmataisei Demonbane

    24_Rewrite
"Could it possibly be rewritten, this fate of hers?"
Another one that enters the top 10.

    25_Narcissu

    26_Grisaia no Kajitsu

    27_Saya no Uta
Only if you enjoy dark and messed up settings.

    28_Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni

    29_Eien no Aselia

    30_Rose Guns Days (1 & 2)
There are small sections of gameplay on this one, but you can skip them by pressing the space bar, so this still qualifies.

    31_Sengoku Rance
I feel obliged to comment on this VN before suggesting it to anyone. It's an Alicesoft title, which speaks a lot for itself... If you don't know how it's going to be like, well.. Kind of tough to describe. Lots of sex, including comedy rape. Alicesoft tends to make the whole story a comedy until right near the end, where things actually do get serious. It's worth checking out, if you don't mind Rance's personality.

    32_Phenomeno
Want a short VN that can captivate you for their whole duration? Here is it.
Visual novel adapted from the youth horror novel written by Hajime Ninomae and illustrated by yoshitoshi ABe.

33_Ef- A Fairy Tale of the Two

    34_Dysfunctional Systems
Another one great for those who want short Visual Novels.

    35_Daibanchou
Another Alicesoft title. While Rouga is not near Rance's level when it comes to pissing off people, alicesoft's style is something which often doesn't please people.
    36_Yume Miru Kusuri
The endings pack quite a punch.

    37_Kikokugai- The Cyber Slayer

    38_Eden

    39_Hoshizora no Memoria

    40_Katawa Shoujo
Yep, it's somewhat overrated. Still, the fact that it is substantially easier for those who are starting to play visual novels to read should not be discarded, and overall, the story was good.

    41_World End Economica

    42_YU-NO

    43_Shikkoku no Sharnoth
Yep, there is a minigame on this one. If you download a save data you can skip the minigame, though. So it still qualifies. Another VN that enters my top 10.

    44_Muv Luv Alternative
The first Muv Luv didn't have enough to enter this list. You should still read it, though~
    MLA is definitely awesome.

    45_Dangan Ronpa

46_Comyu - Kuroi Ryuu to Yasashii Oukoku

    47_Hanachirasu

    48_Ayakashibito

Kaguya got a reaction from Tay in How big is Fuwanovel?
Can't see main site at all, but I can bring some neat forum stats!
We've been really about the exact same for the past year and a half. After we killed torrents there was a big decline, then a soft one until mid 2016 where we reached what we have right now, where it has been more or less stuck since forever. We get about as many new users as we lose old ones, and so the balance remains stable (note that we're approaching what has historically been out lowest period of activity in the year, as you can see by all the declines around this time.)
We can still consistently reach over 150 topics almost every month, which is already more than when I joined the forums.
The community right now is pretty stable, though we can't really match up to our relevance in the old days.
    But that's torrents for you.

Kaguya reacted to Tay in Survey: Community Improvements You Want
    Hi everybody,
It's been a while. I'll make a personal update post at some point, but for the moment I'm posting to ask our users to take the first of what may be a series of surveys we put out this Summer. This first survey is essentially an open invitation to tell me exactly what problems are bothering you about the site, anonymously. My site work this Summer will be heavily influenced by this survey, so if you care about Fuwa and want to see site improvements, please participate.
    Survey Link: https://goo.gl/forms/DHWvWdmusKKXZBh43
I want to thank @Emi for a recent email, @Clephas for some recent posts in the forums I've read which gave me encouragement, all our moderators, @Decay for his patience with my crazy schedule and a soft VNTS pause, and all of our users for keeping Fuwanovel alive. Much love to all of you.

This is something I'd like to post about on the front site. A community update is long-overdue and there's a lot to talk about. I haven't looked at the analytics for a few weeks, but the site's still growing traffic-wise. The front site's major traffic goes to VNTS and Reviews. Kaguya showed some of the forums data, I'll add that walkthroughs are still big. And VNTL-Moon, oddly, is still getting traffic despite being woefully outdated and buggy.
