Are you in the US like your profile says? I tried browsing from the US just now and I did not get any popups.

If you're okay with OELVNs, then Out of Touch! is pretty great. https://vndb.org/v31927
Screenshot #3 on the VNDB is from a moment early on. That scene is completely absurd and the tonal whiplash is meant to filter people out. Don't let it work on you!

Gonna level with you I'm not sure I want to know that number.

That said, I'm still hope that someday a publisher would willing to localize Mashiro Iro here, be it either Nekonyan, Shiravune, or if worst come to the worst Sekai Project.
When Koi Saku got picked up by Sekai Project I thought for sure that it was only a matter of time before they got around to Mashiro Iro Symphony. That never did happen though, and since then Sekai Project convinced me never to trust localizers lol.

Nah. This VN is great, but remake does nothing for me - unless they make Hi-Res PC port of PSP version (Mutsu no Hana), and keep it all-ages - now that would be interesting
(Most of the scenes that were added in all-ages edition as replacement for sex scenes were really good, and I'd take them any day over the h-scenes. Also PSP version had another additional route apart from Sana's - it was for new character Yutsuki, who is exclusive to console version)
Well, I'm all for the 18+ version, and I never got around to tracking down a physical copy of the original. So this is a good opportunity for me to finally get it. I actually do have a copy of the PSP version but no working PSP at the moment so I've never read it. I completely forgot about Yutsuki, and it is a shame that she's not included in either of these editions. Maybe in another 14 years they'll do another remake with something crazy like 16K resolution and also a Yutsuki version as a separate purchase

So I'm a little confused here. It appears that there is a remake, and a Sana edition. Does the remake not include the Sana content? Would be kinda weird if that was the case.
Necroing my own thread that got no engagement here, but yes, this does appear to be the case. The remake does not include the Sana route. The Sana edition is just Sana's route. In order to get all routes you need both versions.
I put my preorder in for both versions last night. Anyone else excited for the remake and/or the Sana edition?

Girl of the Bakehouse is ~4 hours of reading. It's the first story in what would eventually become the Girls Frontline franchise. So, it's one of the most influential VNs that no one has ever heard of before.

Kage no JItsuryokusha ni Naritakute is my gem for this season.
This is really the only thing I've watched so far. The premise is hilarious but 5 episodes in and I feel like I don't really know any of these characters at all.

I remember reading a bit of this probably a year ago. I dropped it pretty quickly because I really dislike the way Koikatsu character models look right out of the box. With some tweaks they can look fantastic like in Out of Touch (great VN btw) but something about the default settings just looks really weird to me. I think it's the proportions mostly. Like in 5:43 in your video both of the girls look pretty bug eyed and then at 8:00 the MC's eyes are waaaayyy too close together. I just can't do it.

There' the old Insani 'So you want to be a hacker?' series of blogposts. They do a pretty good job of explaining how archive files work and how to go about picking them apart. There's 5 parts I think and he writes a simple extractor script in Python in one of the parts.

I remember I had to pace myself for Higurashi. 1-2 episodes at a time but after that I had to put it down for a few days. I was having a good time but it was kinda just a lot to digest. I think I did stall out for a while after
the fingernail ripping scene
but I eventually went back and finished it.
Black Lagoon I think I was also kinda slow to warm up to but once I was hooked I was really hooked.

My guess would be that the engine looks at the name of the character who is speaking in the script, and then searches for that name in a list of character speaking animations that is stored somewhere else. If it cannot find an entry in the list called "Chinami." then it just won't play anything. If I'm right, you'll have to hunt for a list of these speaking animations and make sure the entries match the romaji names you are using in your translation. It might be at the bottom of the script you're working on, or it might be its own separate text file. It might also just be searching in a folder of speaking animations by name, but that seems less likely to me.
Or I could be totally wrong about all of this, who knows?

Wow, I completely misread that sorry.
that was embarassing

Your character wants to fuck girls, or he wants to fuck /with/ girls? Those are two very different motivations.

Gotcha. Where were the files hiding out?

I thought for sure after SakuSaku got licensed that Mashiro Iro Symphony would be soon to follow. Only took the better part of a decade lol.
