  1. Yes, somehow they're going to make a clean, all-ages version of a game rife with lolicon incest. http://www.dramaticcreate.com/monobeno/ Called Monobeno Pure Smile, it will include the additions from Happy End as well as lots of new artwork and story things (obviously to patch up the holes left by all the sex scenes they're taking out). Though my opening statement may have been pithy, I'm actually looking forward to this. Monobeno is absolutely gorgeous and has extremely high production values. Unfortunately the adult version also has lots and lots of sex scenes with very young girls, including your own sister and (if I'm not mistaken) your daughter as well. The Vita version will give people a chance to experience a beautiful game that actually has a pretty decent and dramatic story full of youkai and old mystic village stuff without having to wade through all the fetishy ecchi. Edit: Oh sorry there was already a news post about this on the main site.
  2. Anyone who is having trouble learning kanji should check out this site: http://kanjidamage.com/ It's not a perfect system, but it's a hell of a lot easier to remember and a much more logical progression than any textbook or other site will give you. The writer's language is pretty coarse and he uses a lot of Yo Mama jokes as mnemonics, but if you can look past that it is a super useful system. I was pretty much stuck in my kanji studies, forgetting as many as I learned, until I found this place. Now I can easily recall the meanings of kanji and even how to write them. It's given me a huge boost in a short period of time, and I imagine if I give it a full year or so I'll easily have all 1,300 kanji on the site memorized.
  3. Nosebleed asked me over so here I am. I'm a translator, here's my profile: http://vntls.org/staff/claymoresmiley Normally I try to avoid work on 18+ games but this one looks like the kind of project I could get in to. I'll PM Glitch with my contact info. I live in Japan now (and will for the next 3 years or so) so my hours are pretty crazy but if we talk by e-mail it should be fine. My plate is currently completely clear (besides work, of course) so I should be able to clip along at a steady pace. I may join up as a translation-checker with another project at the same time, though. That offer's still pending.
  4. This actually looks like something I'd really enjoy working on, so sure. Yep. I've checked for a few projects before. I will PM both of you my contact info.
  5. By bizarre coincidence I'm actually the guy who started doing the translation for that Gaia thread. Yes... once long ago I went by the name 'Manly Shun'. That said, the problem with Ryuukishi stuff is that he's really, really hard to translate. He uses sentences so long that by the time you get to the end you forget how it started. He uses metaphor and plays on words to convey ideas (hell even the VERY FIRST LINE in Higurashi is hard to interpret). And, to top all that off, Higurashi has already been translated. Now the DS version does have some new stuff, but it's hard to get motivated for such an enormous project (I mean it spans 4 DS games) when there's an English version of the main chapters readily available. Sorry, normally I'd jump on the chance to do a non-H game... especially one I already worked on years before, but... yeah.
  6. Now that I've hooked you in (assuming 'you' are the leader/promoter of a VN translation project) let me chase about half of you away with this: I want to translate something that is not porn. That is my one and only rule. No H-scenes. No 18+. I don't translate VNs I don't own and I don't buy porn. Any other game on any system or PC I will gladly go out and buy and translate but no porn. That's it. Reply here or PM me if you've got a project for me. http://vntls.org/staff/claymoresmiley ^ My translator profile. Be warned though it was made by a person who has a higher opinion of me than I have of myself so he exagerrated a little. All I did with Akatsuki no Goei was help their editor correct some BS translations. And I did maybe 500 lines of Higanbana.
  7. To be honest there's just not that many to choose from. Yuri and girls' love has nowhere near the market in Japan that yaoi and boys' love has. Pretty much any good one that comes out gets snatched up by someone to translate... it's just that there are so few 100% yuri games that even a list of the best ones seems pathetically small.
  8. http://vndb.org/v7301 Hakuisei Renai Shoukougun Re:Therapy (AKA White Robe Love Syndrome AKA Shirokoi) is being translated by yours truly. You can get updates on my progress by following @claymoresmiley on twitter.
  9. Actually Re:Therapy wasn't a sequel, just an expansion that added more scenes, an 'after story' scenario and a new character. It was also the only one ported to PC so that's the one I'm translating.
  10. Yeah basically I looked at my life and said 'I'm wasting a lot of time doing worthless things, I should stop doing those and do important things instead.' So I swore off video games forever, sold my PS3 & PSP and have now dedicated all the time I would have been playing video games to either reading Japanese VNs/LNs or translating them. Huzzah!
  11. http://wiki.yuriproject.net/white_robe_love_syndrome There's the site of the project. I'm just going to translate it following the order that the scripts are listed there. So far today I've completed the next script in order which was 537 lines. However, the lines in this game are significantly shorter than lots of other VNs, so even though Shirokoi has a sizeable line count I think it should go pretty fast. For comparison, when I was translating Haruka's route in Little Busters 500 lines would have taken me 5-6 hours probably across 2 days since I would burn out if I tried to do them all at once. Shirokoi's translation is much more smooth and rapid, though I'm sure it'll start slowing down a little once I get into the meat of the medical terminology. Spread the word and support the project!
  12. Never mind. Should have done some research first. There is already a translation project for it opened with all the script available through Yuri Project. Looks like it hasn't been touched in a year or so so I should have it mostly to myself if I pick it up there. Thanks for the offer anyway.
  13. Hey folks, ClaymoreSmiley here. Recently I went through a big change of life philosophy which ended up freeing up a lot more time in my day-to-day, which will allow me to get back to something I am really passionate about which is translating Japanese stuff. While I intend to probably stick with Light Novels for the most part, since they are (relative to other things) easy to do solo, I do have one VN that I have been dying to work on ever since it came out. Hakuisei Renai Shoukougun (White Robe Love Syndrome) RE:Therapy is a PC VN released by Kogado about yuri nurses. It was one of the best-rated and best-selling PSP VNs and enjoys very high reviews from Japanese fans as a PC port as well. It has been praised for the realism of the medical aspects of the plot, which were mainly provided by an actual nurse who knew what she was talking about. Slathered on top of the gritty, realistic medical drama is a very fluffy and enjoyable yuri romance with Kogado's signature art style and decent music to boot. And I want to translate it. Unlike many other VNs that are difficult to translate due to obscure puns or insanely complicated prose, this VN is accessible to anyone who would spend the time to look up all the medical terms, which I am since this subject deeply interests me and I love medical dramas. I am prepared to put in the extra time to make sure my translation retains the medical accuracy of the original. Alone or with help I will translate this game. But, while I can work on the translation by myself, what I can't do is extract the script. Without the script extracted I really can't do much of anything at all. I realize there are alternative means to script translation available these days, but I want to release this game in a format that people can play for themselves. The yuri community -needs- more love from the VN translators, and this game would be a real beacon they could gather around. So please contact me if you're interested. Due to its popularity this game is not hard to find. Together let's get this script extracted and start bringing a new classic yuri masterpiece out for the community to enjoy. They deserve a little love.
