I've been working on a tool that  incorporates texthooker, translation, OCR, script matching, and popup dictionary.
I have only shared it on the learn japanese subreddit and language learning discords.

    Website: https://game2text.com/
    More information:
Texthooker is a wrapper around Textractor, but I wrote my own text processing. (Textractor only works on Windows so text hooking is only available on the windows release).
Translation is provided by three online services: DeepL, Papago, and Google Translate. Translation services like DeepL may be limited for a single IP address.
OCR is provided locally by Tesseract or online by OCR Space. It's helpful when you can't hook a game or when the hook doesn't work sometimes. You can improve OCR within the app by applying image filters.
Script matching is a technique that automatically matches the OCR result to your game script to find the correct line. So far it has been very promising for games like Persona 4, Pokemon Dungeons, Nier Automata provided you have a clean game script.
Popup dictionary is a browser extension such as Yomichan or Rikaichan you can use with your browser.  Since the app runs in your browser, you can use whatever popup dictionary you are already using.
There are other language learning related features like Anki integration, but I suppose this app could be helpful for people who are just looking to translate their game.
If you prefer to use another translation aggregator or service, you can simply enable output-to-clipboard in the app and have chiitrans to translate your clipboard or manually paste it in your browser.

    Intriguing.
Too bad it just happened to be the worst time possible to launch a kickstarter campaign, but I wish you all the best.

Thanks. I see what you mean. Actually we launched before Sekai Project (maybe an hour or two hours early). They had a sudden launch too. I haven't posted on reddit.

I went ahead and bought the VN, although I don't plan on reading it till the CGs are added. I enjoyed what I played from the demo and can't wait to see the finished version. Best of luck to you!

Sekai Project should just contract out sales of its adult titles to Mangagamer or JAST.  There's really no point in them having their own shop.  Mangagamer can handle both physical and digital distribution.  JAST and J-List are equally capable (though JAST seems to have a no DRM stance on digital releases that might cause issues for Sekai Project).

Calling BS here.  Mangagamer doesn't use a different brand name for Steam.

I covered fruits of grisaia for its release. Would have written an article about it's kickstarter at the time if I had had a site then.

The reason it's not been promoted is due to how successful the kickstarter was, it's common for developers to only market their KS and if it does well do little else. They already secured a sizeable amount of profit for doing nothing more than a TS that was available for free, why bother trying to market to the IGN crowd who won't buy it anyway?

Meh, I'm not talking about success this and that here. I just wanted to say that this is not their first all-age ever, so it's not much of a "evolution" or something.
And it's not even a "real" all-age to begin with...

Pudding321 reacted to Narcosis in Should I tell them that "VN ≠ Eroge"?
By nowadays standards, eroge are visual novels with adult content. 18+ visual novel is basically an eroge. Your point is invalid.

Guy's you aren't seeing the true brilliance of what Winged Cloud is doing here. They are cleverly setting the bar so low, that with each subsequent sequel, the Sakura games can only improve. By gathering great publicity thought the notoriety of the first few games, they will shock us with the Shakespeare level quality they are saving for their last game.

Pudding321 reacted to Zenophilious in The Fruit of Grisaia Finally released on steam
Pretty simple.  They want titillation without the stigma of buying eroge.  Buying an all-ages Steam version gives them presumably just enough fanservice that they can fap to it, yet not enough to actually make it qualify as porn.

Nintendo already tried something like that with Mortal Kombat.  "Hey guys, look, people sweat when you beat the living hell out of them!  Fun for the whole family!"  It didn't work.  If people know it's censored, it generally angers them.  Seems to me like random people on Steam are buying it (because b00bs) that have no real knowledge of eroge or visual novels in general, hence the lack of anger over censorship.

A young photographer travels to Iceland in search of the Northern lights. There he meets a mysterious, hostile young girl who speaks about elves and curses. What is this curse? Who is she? Join them in an adventure on the barren lands filled with myths, nature, and love.

Hi everyone. It is our first project and we have just launched a campaign on kickstarter to fund the game. Check it out:

It's also on Steam Greenlight if it piques your interest.

After my trip to Iceland I have always wanted to write something about it, and I believe visual novels are a great platform that can aid the text with wonderful visuals and sound. It is going to be a 2-hour game with around 10 backgrounds. Instead of trying to incorporate every highschool niche character, this visual novel will focus on the interaction between the protagonist and one female character. We hope you would like her.

    Here are some screenshots.

    Our progress so far:

    Script: 35%
    Sprites: 100%
    CG Art : 10%
    Background Art: 30%
    Programming 35%
    Music: 30%

We have a dev blog for updates: http://purinproductions.blogspot.com

As well as a facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/purinproductions

I want to give a big thanks to all those who have helped me, especially Jackalico, Lexyvil, and Luna Chai who are also in fuwa.

Also thanks to Eclipsed for moving this to ongoing projects.
